Friay Night Photos Feeling Horny Edition

Just some critters with horns. What were you expecting to see here?
Post whatever you got.
Finally got some much needed rain on Monday and today. Mondays rain brought along thunder and lightning. That was the fourth time since mid July we have had a thunder storm. Normally we get one during the summer.

I took a trip to San Antonio
and we stopped in for lunch at the famous Buckhorn Saloon. We had lunch in the hall of horns. We skipped on the museum of the Texas Rangers.
This is what we just had to buy from the gift shop.

Better judgement tells me to refrain from commenting about a horny beaver.

That's probably for the best . LOL!

Africa has far more large fauna than any other continent
Some say, and I believe them, that the reason large animals weren't wiped out in Africa is that humans and the wildlife evolved together such that the wildlife learned how to not easily end up in the cooking pot.
When humans came to N America we already had many tools for hunting as well as dogs, and not too long afterwards the bow and arrow. Almost every large animal in N and S America was either hunted to extinction or died off in competition for prey with humans.
I'm not optimistic much African wildlife will make it past the next 100 years. Most current conservation is via hunters and African hunting is unsustainable. Fly half way around the world to shoot something for tens of thousands of dollars is nuts. And we can't expect local people to put up with dangerous animals like lions and elephants, nor can we expect them to give up land to wildlife that could be used to farm or ranch.
Extreme climate change will also drive many extinctions, and all tourism that involves air travel needs to end.
Oops my bad

Thanks for hosting again SP
Heard and saw a great horned owl once, sitting in our black walnut. That's about it as far as horned things go.
Here's a path into Mirkwood, taken on a trip to Middle Earth a few years ago.

Hi Social
What amazing adornments horns are. Your sharp close ups feature them beautifully. They all seem to fit the face perfectly. Thank you.
Is this horny enough? ...
Evening, Janis
Plenty horny enough. It reminds me of a cave painting from one of our artistic ancestors.

Thanks Social for another vision of a still-life
that has adorned a shelf for a couple years and still gives me pleasure to look at.
Not mine but you set the tone
Horned tomato worm.
Regardless of the path in life I chose, I realize it's always forward, never straight.
Evening, Pricknick
It's been a really long time since I've seen a tomato horn worm.

GREAT pics SP!
Wonderful horns there SP! Great photos! I think those are indeed all horns... Maybe things have changed but the way zoology was taught at college level in 60-70's, the difference between horns and antlers is that antlers are shed annually, whereas horns are retained and not shed. So deer, elk, Caribou (which are reindeer), all shed their 'horns' so actually they are antlers. Velvet = antlers. Whereas Antelope, or cows, do not shed their horns and those are true horns. I have not kept up on mammalian things, but that is how and where the line was drawn and taught for decades on the issue of horns vs. antlers.
Bison

A blurrey bucko sticking his tongue out at me.
Hope everyone is well! And next time BR heads for middle earth he lets us know!

Evening, dystopian
Nice action shot of the blackbucks. That bison looks like it's got a serious case of mange going on.
