Your pictures are so clean, can almost smell the faint aromas emanating.

Somehow reminds me of a Donavan tune ..

@Socialprogressive

But our Hydrangeas are now in full bloom. The bees love them. The tree off the deck is wildly heavy with white blossoms. The bushes to the north vary in color from blue to pink, depending on the acidity in the soil. A few other butterfly bushes are still attracting monarchs, but the hummers have headed south already. Must be fall is in the air.

Cheers!

on Tuesday, I stopped by the pollinator garden hoping there would be some monarchs around but there was no butterfly activity. I was surprised two weeks ago when I saw the first white pelican already in town. Normally they don't start to show up until late october.

Most of my flower pics that have come out have thorns, but this is one of my faves that doesn't - a desert aster in the middle of split mountain, out southeast of Ocotillo Wells on, you guessed it, split mountain road:

@enhydra lutris
Nice desert aster. I'm hoping we will get enough rain in the desert this winter to get a decent spring wild flower bloom. It's been two years since there was a good bloom.

Current plans are to be out east, though I guess we could slide home via Yuma to Brawley or Blythe to either Indio or Brawley, get our desert fix and then snake on up through Fillmore to Pismo or therabouts, etc.

flowers or not. We'll be off out east, though I guess we could slide back via Yuma or Blythe to Brawley, catch ABDSP and then zig up thru Fillmore to Pismo and then on to home. Dunno, without the trailer these trips play out a bit weird.

@enhydra lutris very cool EL! Attsa nice botanical specimen! Great background too.

P.S. Don't Hydranga have a cyanid in them? I think so. Not good for the head, unless you want it really dead. Wink

really good looking plant. I'ts really cool for me to see it, because we used to use Manuka honey as a wound treatment for birds and animals. It promotes healing and seriously reduces the chances of infection and all that. I once understood the theory, but now all I remember is that it works very well. We even considered getting some to keep around the house for minor wounds and abrasions.

and an equally good choice for you and others. Manuka honey is highly antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. I have used nothing other than this remedy for wounds for decades, and it has always done the trick.

@janis b
at our patio togther with the bird house and two bird baths in front and at the side of it.

Our "gardener" (aka known as car mechanic and unprofessional caretaker for my not totally demented, but slightly 'out of the loop of timelines' sister) takes care of the Hydrangea bush. Birds love to hide in there and they love the bird feeder, which hangs at the side of the bush, so that my sister has always good company and can have interesting conversations with the birds.

As my sister forgets to drink her coffee in her cup as long as the coffee is hot, the strawberry hydranger gets a lot of cold coffee thrown at its blossoms. So it is just a matter of time that the blooming blossoms turn brown.

It is a very useful bush in our patio-life-centered environment. Smile

Hope everything is going at your satisfaction in your corner of the world. Have a good Sunday.

@mimi first cream-colored. Then as they age they turn Strawberry colored from the bottom up. After that they turn tan too brown and dry out. I am hoping I can dry some for indoor Winter flowers before our current river of rain turns them to mush.

Very nice flowers. The strawberry hydrangia is a first for me. Are the butterflies regular visitors to your thyme? I have rosemary that attracts tons of bees but hardly any butterflies.
