Cuomo Resigns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

King Cuomo II has resigned! Effective in 14 days. August 24, 2021 will be the last day of the Reign of Terror that has lasted 11 years.

Kathy Hochul, the NY State Lt. Governor will serve out the rest of Cuomo's term which ends January 1 2023.

Sooner than my Labor Day Friday news dump but sooner is definitely great.

That frees him up for his presidential run! Win-win!

It'll be fun to watch all those dem heads explode when he runs for POTUS- you know he will... Form the exploratory committee, Andy, you gravy-sucking pig. Do it. Do it now. I'm sure that there are still more pockets to be picked in your future (at least in your mind, anyway).

I love to watch any thug go down. Truly, I do.

Today is a very good day. Murder won't get him impeached, but groping will? Must be something more than that. Maybe he insulted Chelsea once. Who knows? in any case, it is good to know that there *are* limits.

Betcha that the agreement to resign is sealed by court order...

On edit: whaddaya think about HRC running Chelsea for governor, as part of grooming her for keeping the family grift going, and then her eventual Presidential loss? That'd be damned near as tasty to watch as would AC running for POTUS hisowndamnedself. (munch)

Not to excuse sexual harassment, but the man killed thousands of old people and covered it up.

And no one gives a sh*t!

Somehow killing thousands of old people isn't nearly as important as fondling a few breasts. Just how f*cked up are we as a nation?

@NYCVG good and bad

In the context of Cuomo’s career, it’s a bizarre document. There are 2-3 flash allegations of genuine crime — a hand up a blouse to grab a breast, an apparent improper promotion of a female trooper as a come-on — surrounded by a mountainous chronicle of gray-area dickishness/inappropriateness/cluelessness, from referring to female staff as “sweetheart” or “honey” to “allowing senior staff members to sit on his lap” and holding “discussions about the age differences of partners.”

When Cuomo meets his maker I seriously doubt more than a handful of these episodes will make the first draft of what assuredly will otherwise be a lengthy case for hell. Morally, almost none of it compares to the other things we already knew he’d done: deliberately undercounting rest-home Covid-19 deaths to head off a federal civil rights investigation, taking money from Harvey Weinstein’s lawyers before halting an investigation into the handling of Weinstein’s case, keeping a right-hand man who took hundreds of thousands in bribes, or any of a dozen other episodes reflecting calculated transgression as opposed to generalized, anachronistic horniness.

With Cuomo as with anyone else in the Internet age, the important issue isn’t right or wrong, but whether or not he’ll survive. Bad People news stories now inevitably devolve into Twitter math contests, where the goal is to topple a career once the right ratio is reached. We see public opinion shifting against Cuomo, with 70% of New Yorkers calling for his resignation. If he quits, he goes into disgrace, a one-size-fits-all afterlife which is always permanent now — Al Franken and Louis C.K. get disappeared down the same chute as Weinstein and Cosby, and almost no one comes back from the other side.

Morality in this sense has become a pass/fail exercise, with everyone divided into just two categories, viable and disgraced. Which of the two one lands in depends entirely on how high levels of public disgust and emotion reach at the peak of viral mania, versus how entrenched the target is or isn’t.

@gjohnsit Brett Kavanaugh demonstrably lied to Congress several times--crickets. Call me old-fashioned, but once upon a time perjury was a crime and committing perjury would have been an automatic disqualifier for any judicial office. Now not so much. However, allegations of teenage groping surface (almost certainly true allegations Kavanaugh is obviously an ass) and the Dems can raise money off that so that becomes a matter of the gravest importance, worthy of full congressional kibuki theater before he, inevitably, but after much posturing, is approved.

When 40-some people get killed in anything titled a "massacre" it's a bold thing to make jokes about it. However, there is still room for humor...if you don't punch down!
But Trevor went and blamed the dirt-poor black miners of South Africa for running in front of police bullets and getting themselves killed. Imagine Trevor Noah telling jokes about how George Floyd got what was coming to him. That would be LESS offensive than what he did here.

So why did Noah punch down against the South African miners? Because they were striking. Because class means more than race. Obama and Noah prove that.

This got buried during Obama’s vaulted presidency.

A call to the Obama White House that some legal experts say is impeachable fits a pattern of the Governor smearing those who scrutinize him.

In April, 2014, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo placed a call to the White House and reached Valerie Jarrett, a senior adviser to President Barack Obama. Cuomo was, as one official put it, “ranting and raving.” He had announced that he was shuttering the Moreland Commission, a group that he had convened less than a year earlier to root out corruption in New York politics. After Cuomo ended the group’s inquiries, Preet Bharara, then the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, issued letters instructing commissioners to preserve documents and had investigators from his office interview key witnesses. On the phone with Jarrett, Cuomo railed against Bharara. “This guy’s out of control,” a member of the White House legal team briefed on the call that day recalled Cuomo telling Jarrett. “He’s your guy.”
…..
Cuomo’s outreach to the White House may have opened him up to sanction for violating state ethics rules and could be relevant in an ongoing impeachment inquiry by the New York State Assembly. “It’s highly inappropriate and potentially illegal,” Jennifer Rodgers, a former prosecutor in Bharara’s office and an adjunct clinical professor at N.Y.U. Law School, told me. Jessica Levinson, the director of Loyola Law School’s Public Service Institute, added, “If he, in fact, called a U.S. Attorney’s bosses and implied, ‘Stop this guy from looking into me,’ that could easily amount to an impeachable offense.” (Shortly after publication time, Cuomo announced that he would resign as governor of New York.)
….
Long before Cuomo’s efforts to discredit reports that he had sexually harassed women, he repeatedly interfered in another state probe that threatened him, the Moreland Commission. “Every single thing I’ve seen in the past couple of months was foreshadowed,” Danya Perry, a former federal prosecutor who served as the Moreland Commission’s chief of investigations, told me, in her first on-the-record comments about her work on the panel. The commission began with a sweeping mandate from Cuomo to probe systemic corruption in political campaigns and state government. However, interviews with a dozen former officials with ties to the commission, along with hundreds of pages of internal documents, text messages, and personal notes obtained by The New Yorker, reveal that Cuomo and his team used increasingly heavy-handed tactics to limit inquiries that might implicate him or his allies. “He did not want an investigation into his own dark-money contributions,” Perry recalled. “He was pulling back subpoenas that were gonna go to friends and supporters of his—it was just really unbelievable,” Kathleen Rice, a U.S. representative from Long Island who served as one of the commission’s co-chairs, added.

Andrew has long been a naughty boy and he shouldn’t escape justice for the nursing home scandal or anything else he’s done just because he’s stepping down. When the rich and powerful escape justice it makes a mockery of the rule of law.

Funny thing…Apple has decided that it’s never heard of Cuomo anymore. Each time I write his name it gives me Chomsky.

This article shows how long the corruption and bullying went on. Attorneys in Obama’s WH were well aware of it but said nothing until now. But others knew about it and helped cover it up.

Worth a read.

@snoopydawg @snoopydawg was known by all the political aware in NY at the time. And it's been cited by outraged citizens all along.

We watched as Cuomo disappeared Federal money designated for NYCHA and got away with it, as poor folks in highrise buildings had elevators that did not work, and no heat or hot water in the winter.

We watched as 9 members of his administatrion were tried and found guilty of fraud and corruption and marched off to prison.

We watched as the Federal billions for rental assistance has not been disbursed.

We watched as Cuomo promoted Charter Schools, Private Prisons and Private Immigration Detention Centers.

We watched as Cuomo formed and supported the IDC which kept Democrats out of power for 8-9 years.

But we were all powerless to do anything. Even though we turned out 500,000 votes for Cynthia Nixon and turned the NY State Senate and Assembly Blue.

The entrenched power structure, supported by the Real Estate and Insurance industries, control what gets into the newspapers and on our TV and radio. Completely. And until now, those interests have had their way.

Cuomo will be gone, but nobody here is so naive to believe that the successor will be a noticeable improvement.

@snoopydawg https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/567225-biden-says-cuomo-has-...

Biden on Tuesday said New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) has done a “hell of a job” on issues like infrastructure and voting rights, while voicing support for the governor’s decision to resign after a state investigation found that he sexually harassed 11 women.

“I thought he’s done a hell of a job, both on everything from access to voting to infrastructure to a whole range of things,” Biden told reporters when asked about Cuomo’s 10-year tenure as governor, distinguishing between Cuomo’s personal behavior and his policy actions. “That’s why it’s so sad.”

I wonder if creepy Joe used some of the same individuals to smear Tara Reade?
