Green Acres, is the Life for Me!
First and foremost, I just wanted to thank everyone here for their support. I would not have been able to do this with out you. So, with all of my heart, thank you!
Most important news first, Gigi is adapting and we're back to belly biscuits and being kitty furniture.
The view from about 15-20 ft. in front of my cabin.

I gotta say, I'm actually loving this new life style. It's an adjustment, but I really like it. One adjustment I'm dealing with is my wife's laptop battery only last for about three and half hours, then takes about three hours to charge.
My cell phone has taken on new meaning, against my better judgment .
I'm getting a lot of exercise, chipping in with some manual labor, earning my keep as it were. The people are great, we all have our health issues, but everyone get's along.
Gigi sure hates the leash. She's like, "I'm supposed to lead you around human". I'm like, "No, you can't eat the chickens". We saw our first chickens today on our walk exploring outside our tiny cabin. We saw our first longhorn bull yesterday, just walked about 20ft in front of our cabin.
I'm been studying the local chamber of commerce, what businesses are in town, and in the area. Additionally seeking out companies that have online CMMS systems as potential for either consulting work or actual employment opportunities.
I've found two so far with potential, both are based in Canada, and neither can send reps into the US because of COVID. One of them I talked to today, was just considering how they were going to handle Texas. They have a decent client base in the Oil and Gas industry down here.
Apologies I have to cut this short and haven't uploaded any photos. I have to scale them down so they don't take all the bandwidth from by gracious neighbors. Another one of those adjustments.
I really just wanted to let everyone know I'm alive, safe and adjusting favorably to this radical change, and that I really do thank you all for your support. I truly could not have done this without you.

Nice! Very good to hear from you.
It looks like wide open spaces around you. I'm happy for you and hope things continue to go well.
That's great!
It gets old climbing the telephone pole to make a call, but its amazing what you can get used to. All the best in what sounds like a much better situation.

All good news, RR!
Glad to hear Gigi is back in love with you!

humm the Green Acres theme on a regular basis. We live fairly rural and things are different in the Texas country. It is great, we love it, and wouldn't trade it for any city life. Your place looks like it would be GREAT for bird watching. That pond is perfect. You should get ducks and shorebirds stopping by, surely either Vermilion or Scissor-tailed Flycatcher will nest near it. Scissor-tails just got to the southern Edwards Plateau a couple days ago.
They will be there soon.
Glad to hear things are falling in place for you! Good luck!

Yay!
I have been wondering how you were and if things were going well for you and kitty. That is a beautiful view you have and I bet you’re feeling like you are on vacation and just feeling the stress melt away. Hope everything keeps going your way. I can’t wait to hear about your neighbors.
Give Gigi a scritch.

Excellent news!
I'm envious. Big change is scary but sounds like it's good scary. And that's OK. That's growth, right? Being unplugged 24/7 from the madness? Damn, I'm jealous of that.

I’m glad to hear you are happy in your new home.
It looks like your view is expanding, and with it your potential. I hope Gigi enjoys the view from your lap. All the best!

Man I hope you can get some kind of job
just to help out you and your communal pals.
If I didn't have so much office and yard work to do this weekend, I would take a drive up to your place!
Make a communal plan for mosquitoes. They are already starting to buzz around. I am near a lake, a creek, and a spring. I hoarded some citronella. Let me know if you need some.

Hola, that place needs definitely some kind of a rooster.
It looks so lonely without one.
Hoping the best for your future endeavous RR.
I considered to get a black sheep for my sister, so that she doesn't think I am the only one in her garden and our family. A black sheep and a rooster would make those green acres a little bit more exciting.

Wonderful! Thanks for letting us know. Scritches for Gigi.
Intentional communities, sound like the thing to do. Especially in our age demographic. Love your view and potential for outdoor physical work. Good for all of us and keeps the machinery working.
Can't wait to see more when you have a chance.

Anyway...
When I was a volunteer with the Pomona College Farm, I was witness to part of an episode in which a number of students, drunk or high or both, wandered into an auction in Chino and purchased a dozen chickens. The chickens were subsequently let loose upon the Farm, no coop, no enclosure, nothing. There is a path running through the Farm which dog-walkers customarily use. After about two weeks nearly all of the chickens were eaten by dogs except one, who managed to survive a couple of weeks further by living in a tree.

Wass that? You need a rooster? Take mine. No really
take the one that wakes me up every gd morning way before the sun is up and keeps doing a crackly crow all the damn morning. Look I appreciate that families want eggs, but it sure upsets a lot of folks around the neighborhood that only gets less sleep from the damn thing. Can their voice box....no to heinous to consider. A muzzle?
