"The senior gaslighter from the State of Vermont"

This video has been edited so I’m not sure what else Bernie said. Maybe he talked more about how he’s working on getting us more or monthly, but just the fact that he’s towing the party line pisses me off to no end. Gawd’s nightgown this ain’t rocket science but our f’cking lives that are at stake in this bill.

Here are a few responses!

- Idgaf if he is towing the party line. Schumer pushed Biden to go down to GA in the runoff & make the speech for $2000. It’s fckn maddening that you think you can gaslight poor struggling families on edge of homelessness like mine. Wait, no, it’s a very Democrat thing to do.

and his prime was never more than modest social democracy. Similar to the economic political positions of many Democratic politicians from 1930s through the mid-1970s and not nearly as robust as what was espoused by many of those politicians.

I personally didn't want Bernie to run in 2020. Hoping that a better, younger, and stronger voice from the left would enter the race and fill that slot. Someone experienced that has been quietly getting it right for a long time and understands the economic issues at a deep level. There are a few.

and he has pretty much gone back on everything he ran on. Twice.

Plus he has been tweeting nonstop since he quit the 2nd time about what WE NEED and WHAT CONGRESS NEEDS TO DO which gives people the impression that he will be working on getting them those things.

Edit- plus he is listening to big businesses and that commerce organization that also want parents back to work ASAP (sorry memory problems again) and not the scientists who are saying that it is not safe yet what with the new mutations that are just being recognized.

I too would like to know who you think is to the left of Bernie that had a chance to win. If you think Warren would have been to his left I disagree that she actually is. She showed her true colors during and more importantly after the primary.

So yeah in my book he has sold out and gone back on his word with towing the party’s f’cking line.

@snoopydawg Regarding "new variants" of the SARS-CoV2 virus, and whether they are actually any worse, Rosemary Frei is able to write intelligently about that:

https://www.rosemaryfrei.ca/laying-out-the-evidence/

A quote from the article:

According to what we hear from officials and the mainstream media, the new variants are the most dangerous and unpredictable beings since Osama bin Laden.

Everyone needs to stay safe from these invisible but murderously mighty microbes by shunning contact with the unwashed, unmasked and unvaccinated.

But is that drastic approach — which is accompanied by severe curtailment of civil liberties and constitutional rights — warranted?

It turns out that the case for the variants’ contagiousness and dangerousness centres largely on the theoretical effects of just one change said to stem from a mutation in the virus’s genes. And, as I’ll show in this article, that case is very shaky.

Gaslighting is a form of emotional abuse that's seen in abusive relationships. It's the act of manipulating a person by forcing them to question their thoughts, memories, and the events occurring around them. A victim of gaslighting can be pushed so far that they question their own sanity.

Refusing to be a victim might be an option.

People with Asperger’s syndrome / people on the autistic spectrum tend to be good at this. If you are more neurotypical, however, the Powers That Be will often succeed in overwhelming the evidence of your own senses with emotional artifice and razzle-dazzle.

The top jobs in mainstream media pay so well because their job is a tricky one: putting up a convincing front while denying the obvious and getting people to go against their gut feelings and common sense.

How sad to see this here. Oh well, free speech. I did not vote for Bernie and watched him with as open a mind as I could after 2016 to see what he would do. From his past actions I gave him the benefit of doubt. All the way till he dropped out. Gave it again after he kept the issues that he wanted Biden to address in the public view so I thought that yes he was working for we the people. Sadly this bullshit of towing the dem's party line is the last straw for me.

To be giving anyone "the benefit of the doubt" requires that there be some doubt. Bernie Sanders has made his position clear as day to anyone who paid attention. I honestly don't understand this pattern of repeatedly expecting a leopard to change its spots and then getting furious when it doesn't happen.

This reminds me of that old story about the scorpion and the frog... you know it: there is a flooded river and the scorpion asks the frog to carry it across on his back. The frog says I cannot do that, you will sting me! The scorpion says no I wouldn't sting you because then we would both die. So the frog relents and allows the scorpion onto his back and heads into the flooded river. Suddenly the frog feels the sting of the scorpion and is dismayed! "Why did you do that!?" he cries! The scorpion says "because I am a scorpion; it is my nature." and they both drown in the rushing river.

Bernie stays true to his nature, he is a DEMOCRAT. And he will act like one. Always.

(By the way. I am sorry to be a usage scold, but this grates on the nerves of my inner editor: it is toeing the line (as in keeping your toes on the line and not stepping out of it) and not towing the line, which would be to drag a "line" behind you -- which makes no sense. Smile

Carry on!

I have read your comments and essays for a long time now and you certainly are not stupid, and you bring up issues like this with Bernie as well as other people all the time. You are in fact one of the most relentless I've seen when it comes to keeping these people pinned in the spotlight for whatever disappointing, frustrating, or outrageous things they do on an ongoing basis. I guess if anything you are just too forgiving!

That is not a trait I share, by the way. I am more of the Maya Angelou school of thought: "When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time."

I am truly not someone who forgives or forgets things easily. My husband is more like you... for instance, he does not recall the anger of betrayal and disbelief when a "friend" and neighbor of ours once called us yelling and threatening to call animal control because our dog had gotten out and was on his property. I was like, wow, ok just let us know and we'll get her back inside! geesh. I never spoke to that neighbor/ex-friend again. But my husband was back to chatting him up and going out for lunches again within a few weeks. Did he ever even apologize, I asked? Nope. So why just let it go, I ask? Because, why not? he replies.

I think, because then I won't be slammed in the gut next time he turns on us. My husband is like, whatevers... every day is brand new. I guess it takes all kinds. Ah life.

I apologize for saying that you called me stupid. I was out of line since you didn't say that and followed up my comment with more good words. Thank you.

I'm putting this on a very ruff week pain and stomach wise. Been sick off and on for over 2 months and can't see my doc cuz I transitioned to medicare/medicaid and I do not have my cards though this has been in process for well over 6 months. But it is familiar event now. Wake up woozy in my tummy like I have a hangover tho I have not been able to drink for weeks cuz of high pain. Yack it and feel better til the next time I don't and go thru the rites again.

Excuses I know, but it has been hard. Try raising a great puppy when you just want to be in bed. Sam has worked around my moods quite well. Not anything bad, but tempers get frayed when you're pushed to ones limit.

I very much appreciate being advised what is the proper way to spell a saying and especially this one since I have seen both spellings being used. Same as I do when others point out that I am wrong on facts. Both serve a purpose IMO. Just like I have to rely on spell check to help me spell. Especially in the mornings.

THANKS!

I used to honestly view it as a small service to do things like that. Everyone wants to be a better writer and use the right words to communicate their meaning, right?

Then I learned that a lot of people really hate it. Oops! So I'm glad you don't mind. Smile

And while many sophisticated, upscale, and/or highbrow things had not yet come to Hawai‘i from North America, Honolulu did have quite a few bowling alleys where one could indulge in the lowbrow pastime. So when I got a chance to learn how to bowl as a phys-ed elective, I took it.

One of the first rules you learn in bowling is, toe the line! Stay within the line! If your toes go over the line, it’s a foul!

I wanted to say something about the spelling too, but as an Aspie, I have the feeling I’ve been annoying people without picking up on it all my life, so I was too cluck-buck-buck-awk! chicken…

and I might not have gotten the meaning of gas lighting correctly. I did not mean to say you or I are victims, bug that the definition I gave for gaslighting seemed to mean that the goal of a 'gaslighting person' is to influence you with the goal to make you feel like a victim and question your own guts feelings.

As for Bernie, I really didn't see him as a left democratic socialist. He seemed to be way too accommodating but to me and his speeches reflected basically that he had a bit more of a social conscience than others and wanted to help the average person.

As I was not allowed to vote in the US and also have left the US in 2016, I did not follow his speeches closely. I would say I feel let down by any of all the Democrats. I fell for Obama for the first months or so, I fell for Bernie as I believe he meant what he said in the beginning, I feel very let down and betrayed by Biden. Way back I didn't trust the Clinton guy or girl one bit. So, basically, I don't know whom I would trust today. Nobody, I would say.

Let the next generation come in. May be they can make it.

@snoopydawg

So now we are victims?

Always, snoop. Always. Every time someone, anyone, gains power or authority, we, the ordinary working folks, are victimized. The worst loser in the 2016 and 2020 USA Presidential elections was "We The People". Indeed, it's a healthy part of why you're so pissed off at Bernie, and rightly so!

How sad to see this here. Oh well, free speech.

And factual truth into the bargain.

And you're not alone here. In the classic prose of Lily Tomlin: "No matter how cynical I become, it's impossible to keep up."

This quote sums it up perfectly. But its something that we keep saying after we follow that ray of hope anywhere. Even though I wasn’t going to vote for Bernie for various reasons I did want him to be president. Who didn’t if they’re honest with themselves. Who wouldn’t want to live in a country that treated everyone equally?

I really should have learned my lesson after Obama who pretty much did what Clinton did. That was blow lots of pretty smoke up our ass and tell us that our thinking that Clinto/Obama betraying us was just because we haven't given him enough time. Well Clinton's welfare reform and Obama's FISA vote told me otherwise. And yet I still went for Bernie in 16. Go figure.
