Inspired by Cassiodorus: Move your diaries off of DKos
Why should the Great Orange Satan benefit from your work? Everyone who has come here should start moving all their old diaries off the site and put them on Wordpress. I've begun transferring my old diaries. Unfortunately, I can't delete my stuff from DKos since they long ago banned me. So far I have two of my diaries on DKos moved over to my new blog on Wordpress: penspages.wordpress.com
Niger Yellowcake and the Man Who Forged Too Much
And The Usual Suspects Pt 1: Richard Perle, the Prince of Darkness
I'll be posting the entire Usual Suspects series up this week. Anything else I can post up I will. Can't delete my posts on DKos, however, since they long ago banned me for pointing out they are a Lie Factory run by the CIA.
Make sure you post one final dairy on DKos however: Announcing you no longer wish Markos to benefit from your work and giving links to your new blog and to this website.
Were it not for someone posting a link to this place on DKos, I'd have never found you guys. Spread the word, spread the links!!!
DELETE DKOS!!!

Already doing it, but...
I'm not going to give Kos and his sycophants the opportunity to condescend towards me.
Far as I'm concerned, they've forgotten about me, and I'm FINE with that.
I do not pretend I know what I do not know.
I totally understand
I think it's very important for there to be a successful and politically relevant progressive website to counter DKos, however, and this place is our only hope. We have to aggressively market this website and get the word out that we are here. The best place to do that is on DKos.
So those who do post there still, don't forget to link this site.
I wrote hundreds of Diaries
…at Daily Kos. Before I left, I carefully removed and archived every single one, then deleted all of them at DK, leaving my entire blog page empty.
Thus, I have a great deal of intellectual property to refashion and publish when I am ready to do so. Some specific topics are moving into an ebook at the moment.
And you are right, Scott
…about leaving a forwarding Diary.
I suspect, however, that the story of what happened at Daily Kos (which is still unfolding) will be published in the New Yorker and other venues. It's a compelling story about virtual communities, presidential politics, social media, and think tank laboratories (which is what DK actually is and how it is funded).
Think tank laboratory?
I think it's used as manipulation and emotional torture laboratory, just to see how the heck those human rats are behaving and then write smart books about it.
I knew a kossack, who watched out for and studied a lot of diaries and comments, then realized he himself being used as guinea pig of those "think tank" researchers and overlords.
Took a long time to admit to myself how much that disturbed me. I feel used like a guinea pig. Saying bravely, one doesn't mind to be used as a guinea pig, doesn't help. It's still very disturbing and very abusive. But most of us became "Good Germans" and accepted the conditions of being used that way.

Well, one way to look at it
…is that most of the folks at c99 who are expressing themselves and exploring their experiences and healing their hearts are the lab rats who failed the Third Way reprogramming. Heh.
What's interesting, are those who abandoned the traditional values of social fairness in the Democratic Party. Some of it is abuse syndrome, and those are the sad cases that extend out into voting blocs who receive most of the abuse. It's tragic. The successful lab rats are perfectly obedient hall monitors who are cognitively and emotionally blind to the egregious inconsistencies. In many ways, I envy them.
where did you store your diaries, and did you store comments?
I am literally in the process of doing this, but want to find a better way to do this

Sometimes it's good to archive diaries by category --
So for instance if you go to my "about" page you can find one link to my book reviews and another to my classic diaries...
"A reminder: the US has the #1 most expensive healthcare system in the world, yet we rank roughly #42 in life expectancy." -- Luigi Mangione
I store all comments attached to the Diaries
…which I do by saving the opened Diary as a "Web Archive" to my hard drive.
As for my own comments, those are accessible at any time by searching the site where I left them.
Lately, I've started writing comments that are longer than some of my Diaries were. Not sure why I'm doing that, but I've been saving those in an appended text file I created when I noticed what I was doing.
(I rather like my new rambling comments better than my essays. I say more interesting things (to me) in the comments, and entertain more new ideas. That's probably because the comments are so transient, and moving fast like white water or meteors; there's less risk and more freedom for the writer. I don't think about influencing the influencers anymore with compelling essays. I pretty much know what the outcomes are going to be from 18 months out. Beyond that, there are too many threads of probability, and you need an entire team to game the future.)
How do you delete your diaries?
Can someone coach me on how to take down my "presence" on this website? I didn't publish much, but would like to "dissappear" and remove from GOS. Could someone walk me through steps?
Open one of your Diaries.
Look for the "edit" button.
You will find buttons to "unpublish" and to "delete". If you delete, it will be gone forever. If you unpublish, it will be stored in your Drafts.
Wonderful, scott. I've forgotten about my handful of content
there, but I'll migrate it here. Kudos, and best wishes,

In the spirit of that one...

I do not pretend I know what I do not know.
I still go back and reread comments
of some of my older diaries. They have always helped me get through tough times.
My husband is right now telling me how he will help me save my diaries. Or at least try to.
I just want the ones about my personal stuff like autism and the kids as well as my Codepink stuff.
Egads... ten years I was there. Ten years of friendships.
I'm was working on writing about what it's like to leave a straight job and work in medical marijuana as a wife and mom. Yes it's legal here in Oregon but medical and legal have issues and it's still risky. Hell, we're not sure to do with next year federal taxes. it's hard just getting paid. LOL I also want to share about how to make balm. I always thought I was juggling kittens and bowling balls because my son is disabled. But now that I am working alongside with people whose kids were told to go home and die either due to chemo or lack of coverage.... it's all very sobering. There's funny times at work and extremely serious times. I'd love to share that here if it's okay.
Tossed in with a little street action, off the wall rantage and some hockey thrown in. Plus a little kayak meditation zen time.... after I find out how to get my damn ruby glitter lips icon thingy uploaded. Priorities, sheesh.![Biggrin](https://caucus99percent.com/sites/all/modules/smiley/packs/kolobok/biggrin.gif)

I deleted all my diaries over there, last night.
I saved a few but most I deleted without saving a copy. I also deleted the comment threads of all of them. That was even harder than deleting my own writing, but I couldn't honorably hang on to other kossaks' writings without their permission. Sauce for the goose, etc. It was a long, painful night saying goodbye to 11 years of friendship cards. I'm still a member; I won't GBCW until either 6/8 or 11/9.

OK.... Lame Question
Is there and expedient (lazy and fast) way to offload our work?
I have noted that the change in format makes it harder to crosspost at other sites.
Just wondered.
