How Bernie & Squad Actually Support Corporate State. w/Chris Hedges

This discussion includes so much more than just Bernie and AOC. Chris points out how our prison system is a slave labor institution that works for the big corporations. And much much more.

Chris talks about how when we the people decide to rise up against the totalitarianism that is soon to be upon us the PTB will respond with a massive crack down using private mercenaries such as Erik Prince's BlackWater. He talks about how the laws have already been written for this act which I have been saying since Bush passed the Patriot act that Joe Biden wrote and Obama signed the 2012 NDAA that revoked habeous corpus allowing the military to arrest anyone on the president's order, lock them up indefinitely without a trial or access so a lawyer. When rights become privileges.

I am thinking that FEMA camps are no longer CT. Where will they put everyone?

wanted to post it myself in today's open Thread. Glad you did in a separate essay.

If you want a laugh today look at what people are coming up with since they are bored from staying home. The site has some other great photo essays. Thanks Janis for posting the one of the art gallery in Friday's photo essay. Both are great.

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

I'm reading another article about what people are doing to stay sane during lock down and keep coming back to the pictures here.

Take a look it's worth it. Roomba shuffle cracked me up.

By bowing before TPTB the progressives can still continue to discuss issues that were unthinkable not long ago. Hedges admits that he has been marginalized. Sanders can continue to address the issues that the majority of Americans want. Those issues are no longer unspoken.

Recently we have seen wildcat strikes by teachers whose salaries were inadequate and who were no longer willing to accept it. Right to work has segued into the right to earn a living wage. I have to attribute it to Sanders. He may not be able to do much in Congress, but I doubt much can be done there under the current power structure.

As long as he walks the knife edge, he can awaken people who had given up hope. That may be his plan. Those “woke” neoliberals are only out for themselves. People who have begun to see a way forward for themselves and their children and grandchildren are the only hope for this country.

The neocons played the long game, getting candidates in at the grassroots. I hope that progressives can do the same.

I just finished watching it and it so intriguing from start to finish. At times in the past, Hedges could be a downer for me, but in this interview I found some optimism, not for the state we find ourselves in, but for how we care about each other. It is obvious that Hedges deeply cares about his students in the prison where he has taught for the last several years.

One person said that even if Biden had raped 100 women she would still vote for him because Trump is so bad. I cannot fathom how people can think like this. How can they not see that the reason Trump got elected was a direct result of the Obama administration and the policies he brought? Or that even Trump ran against some of the policies Biden's responsible for?

I've been seeing it for two days now and people are rightfully appalled by it. I will grab it next time I see it. But if you read the ones on this tweet you will see others saying things like it, but not as bad. Lots of Russian bots and Putin lovers too. Guess I can understand why people won't look at Biden's history. They probably just watch MSN or MSDNC, CNN and Rachel Rachel Rachel.

The number of people who write like this is endless. One guy disqualifies her because she wrote something nice about Putin. The number of reasons he/she gives is long. It looks very close to defamation and slander. Hopefully Tara pulls a Tulsi and sues a lot of people.

Dang it this tweet doesn't show what she is replying to. It was a doozy.

- The picture of her doesn’t get any better, does it? A charmless grifter.

- I would rather say she has mental issues.

- After reading this, the term "borderline personality disorder" comes to mind.

- I’m waiting for the laundered payoff she’s getting from Putin. A large quantity, believe me. In an untraceable account, of course.

Why? Because of this article written by two brothers who got banned from Twitter. I don't remember why, but they trolled every tweet Trump did. It was annoying as hell because they just went on and on and...and you couldn't read others tweets.

Hey you looky loos if you see this then yes you should feel ashamed that it was posted there. Great job on becoming red state.

This is in response to Biden picking Larry Summers.

- Keep your eyes on the prize. Don’t get distracted by these minor side issues. Summers is a Democratic economist who knows a lot. Biden will listen to a wide range of economic advisers (Jared Bernstein...) Good ideas will get a fair hearing and Obama era lessons will be remembered. Biden will put on a moderate, reassuring face, but will do what is necessary. We won’t get miracles or 100%, but he will move the ball.

- Lawrence Summers is a Democrat. Joe Biden is a Democrat. If you're going to get mad every time Joe Biden hires a Democrat whom you view as impure, then you're in for a long 8 years. Joe demolished all the other candidates in the primary, and therefore he runs the show now. You may not like it, but that's democracy, the people chose Joe and the people collectively have more say than you alone.

- This diary is filled with lies. Summers or no one in the Obama administration “gave” money to banks. It is pure garbage.

Okay we'll just ignore the $29 trillion that they got during Obama's tenure shall we?

Tone deaf much? Summers got Epstein to give money to Harvard and after Epstein got out of prison he partied with Summers, Bill Gates, and lots of other DC insiders.

- When discussing Summers bio you somehow forgot to include that he has served as Secretary of the Treasury and President of Harvard University.

@snoopydawg The Trump derangement syndrome is real. If Trump is so evil, why have the Democrats approved everything his administration has asked for, fast tracked judicial appointments, and even gave him more money in the defense budget than he requested?

Based upon the Democrats' actions in Congress, I can only conclude one thing. It is not about what Trump is doing. It is about the style in which he is doing it. They all work for the same people and it is not we the people.

People don't see the dems doing that. Period. Nope democrats are once again the sane party that tries to stop Mitch and Trump from destroying the country on Putin's orders, but they don't have the power to. I copied some comments from a diary that was about both siderism which gave the dems an excuse for not getting help to us. It wasn't in their power to do so even though they control 1/3 of congress and the power of the purse.

On the bailout it was just the GOP that gave the rich their corporate heist bailout whilst Nancy and her fellow dems were doing everything they could to help the rest of us.

- Political access journalism has allowed Republicans to destroy the country and blocked efforts from Democrats to stop it with their both-sides nonsense.

- I am so disgusted and angry, that is the best I can muster. A blue government would never have done that.

(Somehow this got attributed to the GOP not to Rahm Emmanuel)

- Never waste a good crisis.

- Putin's wildest dream come true.

Dems good, GOP bad. It is that b & w for them.

Thanks very much for grabbing that tweet that I failed to get. Amazing huh?

This season' slogan should be: Vote for the lesser rapist. Just like evil can't be quantified neither can rape. And yet many of us have voted lesser evil for decades because we didn't see the trap that we now do.

I understand this. I do.

How can I vote for a man who may have possibly made another woman suffer the same life-draining pain I’ve suffered since I was assaulted? Voting this year makes me feel like I’m having to trade my sanity to support [an alleged assailant], or to not vote and help Trump win.”

HuffPost spoke with 15 survivors of sexual assault about Reade’s allegation and how it affected their view of Biden’s candidacy. Almost all found Reade’s account highly credible. Some plan to vote for Biden nonetheless because they see him as the lesser of two evils and worry about the damage Trump would do with another four years in the White House. Others are more reticent to line up behind the presumptive Democratic nominee and say they plan to sit out the election. Some of these survivors said any allegation of sexual assault ought to be disqualifying.

Regardless of how ― or if ― they choose to vote, every survivor was dismayed at how Democratic Party leaders had minimized Reade’s allegation. Many said that the whole episode was emblematic of how the political system ― including the Democratic Party ― dismisses the concerns of survivors, sending them a clear message: You don’t matter.

But this is on the democrats because they have been voting for almost everyone of Trump's bills and the senate is allowing Mitch to appoint those judges that he blocked during O's tenure. Why can't Schumer do what Mitch did? He can. He just doesn't want to because the donors want the judiciary to overturn decades of laws that help the workers. But why people don't know that isn't on them entirely if they just get their news from the main stream and don't have the luxury of time like I do to search for the truth. But still.

Democrats still have the option to can Biden. For one thing they know about his mental health issues, but to ignore both issues and leave him on the ticket? Willful dereliction of duty if you thought they had our best interests in mind.

Plus this and his problem with groping kids have been well know for years and years and yet people ignore that he has done more that grope a few kids. It looks like fondling. Everyone of those girls showed how uncomfortable he made them feel. You see it. But hey he ain't Trump right?

Last year, eight women came forward to accuse Biden of inappropriate touching.

Bottom line for many women:

All agreed that the choice between Biden and Trump makes them feel as if their stories and their trauma are irrelevant.

“How can I trust them? Is it truly too stringent of a purity test to demand that no candidate be accused of assault?” she continued. “Call me crazy, but I think one assault should be disqualifying. Neither of these men should be president. And if that means I’m dead to Democrats, then maybe they never saw my humanity to begin with.”

Biden's campaign is saying what they will do for women if he becomes president. One is to end the rape kit backlog. Well then someone should ask them why they didn't do that when they had the chance during O's tenure? This is just empty promises because apparently it is too much to ask to end what many survivors have to go through. This is a decent article that seems to cover the women's concern so if you're interested in their thinking it's worth a read.

I am only speaking for myself here.

Our duty is to support Biden 100 percent in the canpaign and vote for him. And I do think beating Trump fixes the problem, because Biden isn't going to veto any Democratic bills that pass the House and Senate.

Guess this guy isn't paying attention to what Joe has been saying. Which was if the congress passes MFA he will not sign it. Oh well this a newer member that has been Biden cheer leading and putting people down for not getting 100% behind Joe.

I can't wait to see how they square Joe putting Bloomberg and Dimon in his cabinet. Too bad I can't eat popcorn. Or cornpop either.
