Democracy Awakening and Democracy Spring

Not an essay, just links to two motivational pieces of info for a genuine reality-based community that sees how things work (and don't). and why. Piefighter Extraordinaire posted this info at the reddit subthread. It stoked my feel the Bern fires, and I thought it might have a bellows effect for others here as well.

From Jim Hightower's Hightower Lowdown: "Mavericks and mad-as-hellers march to Washington for a pro-democracy rebellion. Because it's time."
Link: http://www.hightowerlowdown.org/democracy#.VvnOYtIrKt_

April 2 - rally in Philly at the Liberty Bell
April 16 - teach-ins, workshops, and non-violent direct action trainings
April 17 - protest march
April 18 - "Congress of Conscience," direct action and advocacy

And on April 11 - Cenk Uygar: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVu4xnuDDiw

"The convening groups and the rank-and-file people energized by the mobilization will be taking the demand for action back to the grassroots and directly into the myriad 2016 campaigns for public office. Two large coalitions, Democracy Awakening and Democracy Spring, each distinct but mutually supportive, are coordinating this pro-democracy rebellion."

It's time. No, it's overdue--way past time.

Enough is enough.

Should be front paged, imo.

I appreciate this info because I did see a clip of Cenk talking about this demonstration but didn't know the groups behind it - I particularly find it exciting that they're going to do teach-ins, which is just what every Bernie rally really is.

I'm going to follow this story. Maybe we can live blog it. I know that Bernie2016TV is going to cover it.

I expect these events will be reported--at a minimum online--by the two co-sponsoring organizations, and maybe by The Young Turks. It would be great to get the word out via social media. My first trip to DC was during my first year of college, to protest the Cambodia bombings. I ran into high school classmates from across the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, and NE in the throngs around the Washington Monument: all of us excited to be dirty-commie-pinko-hippies against the war. Similar activities, even on a far smaller scale, could help to activate more young people and maybe keep them engaged, if a framework exists to maintain their involvement.
