Biden is open to appointing Jamie Dimon to treasury

All You Need to Know': Biden Reportedly Weighing Billionaires Michael Bloomberg and Jamie Dimon for Cabinet Posts

"The establishment wing of the party didn't fall into line behind Biden despite the fact that he'd put Bloomberg and Jamie Dimon in his cabinet. They did it because of that. This is who they are."

Joe Biden is reportedly considering appointing businessman Michael Bloomberg and JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, both billionaires, to powerful leadership positions should Biden win the Democratic presidential nomination and defeat President Donald Trump in November.

Axios reported Monday that the former vice president and his campaign advisers are weighing Dimon for treasury secretary, a cabinet position tasked with overseeing the U.S. financial system. Biden is also considering Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Bank of America vice chair Anne Finucane for the top Treasury post.

Bloomberg, who dropped out of the presidential race last week and immediately endorsed Biden, "would be top possibility to head the World Bank" under a Biden administration, according to Axios.

Progressive observers were appalled, if not surprised, by the preliminary list of potential Biden appointees, which Axios reported just 24 hours before Democratic primary contests in six states.

"The worst," Jones added, "is that he'd empower people like Bloomberg and Dimon and actively make the U.S. a worse place than it was when Trump was elected."

Biden advisers told Axios that the former vice president's cabinet picks would be tasked with implementing "a Return to Normal plan—a reversal of President Trump's unorthodox, improvisational style."

"Biden wants known, trusted people around him—many from the Obama years," Axios reported.

Hillary picked Kaine, but at least she waited until after she won and didn't want to throw Bernie's supporters a bone. But this? Wow. Just wow. He is not even trying to hide his contempt for the working class. And guess who gave him a pass for this?

Biden has been particularly cozy with MBNA, a financial services company from Delaware

Biden was a Senator from Delaware, a state of 600,000 or so. Their main employers are DuPont, Credit Card companies like MBNA, Beach towns, and chicken farms. Really not surprising that he would get support from and support the major employers in his state.

Bingo!

"There are no substantial political differences between the Democrats and Republicans ... The culture wars mask the reality. Both parties are full partners in the reconfiguration of American society into a form of neofeudalism. It only depends on how you want it dressed up."

@snoopydawg … Great clip that says it all, but somehow, at least thus far, Bernie hasn't been able to drive home the point in the debates as clearly as done in that clip. One past candidate whom I voted for that did do so, was Ralph Nader in his Green party run in 2020, except Nader coined the term "Corporate Welfare," given that the word "welfare" had such a negative connotation at the time. Perhaps because Bernie's campaign has been focused on bringing home a positive message, he's missed out to some extent, IMHO, in phrasing that could have enabled him to effectively counter some of the attacks with the "S" word that must have been anticipated coming his way, either now or in a General vs Trump.

Own goal. Whatever you want to call it. A stupid mistake to make at this point.

Fact: Bloomberg repulsed the Dems electorate. Leaking a possible inclusion of that guy is a direct insult to Democrats.

The rest of the list is pretty appalling, too. I'm disappointed with his handlers (who I believe are responsible for this). It's a show of incompetency.

As you are an astute observer of the political milieu (swamp-like as it is), I am surprised you think JoJo's going to go the distance. Ain't happening. No more likely to occur than an alligator winning the Olympic High Jump contest. But heck, I'll try. I hear Beagles are good at Limbo.

This is the best I can do, even with a little help from my friends

but that isn't the point of the essay. As Shar says it's a self inflicted goal. See my tag.

This says it all.

the job and yet today he endorsed him anyway. Okay. But Warren got into politics after Biden got the hideous bankruptcy bill on the past and it's going to be harder for her to endorse him.

Rising takes this on too.

@snoopydawg She has to wait until it’s too late for her to help Sanders at all so it’s not as obvious that she has not intent of helping him anyway.

@gjohnsit I’ve already been getting the “you don’t really think there’s little difference between Biden and Trump” from some vote blues. This helps make my point.

A detailed look at JPMorgan Chase By Philip Mattera at The Corporate Research Project;

JPMorgan Chase, a prime symbol of financial sector misconduct and reckless behavior in recent years, represents the consolidation of several of the most powerful New York and Chicago money center banks as well as the investment house founded by the legendary financier and robber baron J.P. Morgan.

From WallStreetOnParade:

The other news item making headlines yesterday was that the Chairman and CEO of JPMorgan Chase, Jamie Dimon, has received a pay raise to $31.5 million based on his “performance” for the year 2019. The massive compensation comes at a time when the federally-insured bank is under its fourth criminal probe by the U.S. Department of Justice, all of them occurring while Dimon sat at the helm of the bank and all occurring within the past seven years.

In 2013, JPMorgan Chase agreed to pay $920 million to various regulators for its so-called London Whale scandal. Under Dimon’s watch, the bank had used deposits from its federally-insured bank to make wild gambles in derivatives in London, losing $6.2 billion of depositors’ money along the way. No charges were brought against Dimon; he was not barred from the banking industry; and his highly-compensated Board of Directors kept him at the helm.

Just think. Jaimie could be high up in the Biden administration because MyBoss didn't think it would be fair if he went to prison. You know just like Gina the bloody torturer who is head of the CIA instead of serving decades in prison for crimes against humanity.

Thanks Obama. Hmm I wonder who Joe will put in the intelligence agencies? I guess anyone who turned a blind eye to what the Biden family has done during his time. Saagar has a show on how ByeDone's brother has made millions from grifting off his brother's name.

We were discussing the sorry state of the Democratic Party’s chosen one. She said we had to get rid of Trump and that she’d vote for a Ham Sandwich rather than have Trump for four more years. She didn’t care that Biden was crumbling before our eyes. She said “...at least he’d make good cabinet picks.”

My response was that I did not believe Biden would make it to the nomination, that he was a placeholder, and that Biden would probably throw his support and his delegates to his good friend Hillary, assuming he could still form one more coherent sentence. “Oh my God” she shrieked, “I hate her so much I could never vote for her!”

I think I ruined her day.

Then Biden went and announced his interest in Dimon and Bloomberg for cabinet and World Bank. She had voted for Bernie in the primary, but was ready to go with the “unity pick”. Hopefully she’ll be rethinking the situation and sending another contribution to Bernie ASAP.

I've seen comments like hers on many sites, but what people don't get is the reason why someone like Trump could get elected in the first place. This is what needs fixed and Biden's administration won't fix it.

@ovals49 I have heard everyone of those arguments all my life to justify voting lesser evil. And every time lesser evil has won, they’ve continued moving the Dems to the Right with all their picks. I don’t know why people think a right wing Dem is going to surround themselves with lefties. That makes zero sense and history hasn’t shown that to ever be the case. (And given the lack of willingness to show any compromise to the Bernie wing of the party, I’d expect the odds of that happening are even lower now.)

@Dr. John Carpenter

Remember that rallying cry? This election is very important because there are going to be openings on the SC. Well gee there actually was one during Obama's tenure and he let McConnell walk all over him. As did the democrats. Obama might have made a recess appointment for Garland who wasn't very progressive in the first place, but not by the book Obama. Then there's all the things democrats could have done to force Mitch to bring him up for a vote, but oh no they couldn't possibly try to do them either.

We heard for years how the republicans blocked Obama from passing any decent legislation, but the minute democrats were in a position to pay him back....they were eager to vote with them on just about everything!

So vote blue no matter who folks like your life depends on it. Yeah right!
