Here's Mayor Mike defending raising taxes on poor people

Regressive taxes? Hell yeh!
We should all embrace the elitism of the uber wealthy
Michael Bloomberg: “Some people say, well, taxes are regressive. But in this case, yes they are. That's the good thing about them because the problem is in people that don't have a lot of money. And so, higher taxes should have a bigger impact on their behavior and how they deal with themselves. So, I listen to people saying 'oh we don't want to tax the poor.’ Well, we want the poor to live longer so that they can get an education and enjoy life. And that's why you do want to do exactly what a lot of people say you don't want to do.The question is do you want to pander to those people?
That's it. Bloomberg has won my vote. /s
BTW, "left wing billionaire Mike"???

Where did this guy grow up
In what sort of background to have these attitudes toward anyone who isn't rich and white? Does he think if you are not a millionaire, you are not quite human? That is how it comes across.
It's social darwinism
Money = intelligence/ability/worth
He has true Victorian/Tudor values.
Maybe he'll bring back branding for the crime of vagrancy.
My home village
still has its ancient Stocks. Perhaps Medieval Mike can reintroduce those also.
Gëzuar!!
from a reasonably stable genius.
He should be put IN the stocks
along with a long list of corrupt officeholders and officials.,...
There is no justice. There can be no peace.
Hey, let's hear it for humanitarian Bloomberg
Rah! Too many poors. Let's not give them money (or food stamps) so that they can die off without our direct intervention. Pander to the poor? Unthinkable.
Mike Bloomberg: "I'm just spending pocket change extolling my great humanitarian virtues" but after the suckers vote for him, they'll just be obscure obstacles who briefly blocked Mikey's ascendancy to the throne.
There's a pair to draw to ...
Neoliberalism personified. Mayor Mike and Christine Lagarde in a frank discussion of the neoliberal agenda.
Mike is in second place now, they say, for the Democratic nomination.
Christine runs the ECB.
They should both just go away now.
They've done enough damage.
We wanted decent healthcare, a living wage and free college.
The Democrats gave us Biden and war instead.
Buying influence
Nobody likes the poors.
With apologies to Randy Newman.
[To be sung in a nasally Bloombergish voice]
Poor people got no reason
Poor people got no reason
Poor people got no reason
To live
They got little gold
And rotten health
And they talk about
Taxin' rich folks wealth
They got little houses
And sickly little wives
They got no healthcare
In their nasty brutish lives
Well, I don't want no poor people
Don't want no poor people
Don't want no poor people
'Round here
a better song
