That's Not How To Win, Joe

A young woman asks Biden "How do you explain the performance in Iowa and why should the voters believe that you can win a national election?"
Biden's response: "You ever been to a caucus?"
Woman says yes.
Biden: "No you haven’t. You’re a lying dog-faced pony soldier."

Biden was speaking at the first of two scheduled Sunday campaign events in Hampton, NH. The latest polling shows Biden in fourth place, only one point ahead of Senator Amy Klobuchar.

oh....so that's real, then
I saw reference to this quote and didn't bother reading the back story. Fascinating.
What??
People don't say that do they?
They do ...
if they wore the Gray in the late, great War of Northern Aggression.
I've never heard it before--
but I'm a Floridian, which to some makes me less Southern because I'm too far South.

In other words
it's something from the North South, but not something you would hear in the South South.

LOL
Yep, that's about right.
My favorite is, however, when Northerners tell me I'm not a Southerner. LMAO!

I was having fun.
I've never actually heard it before, either, but it sounds like something from a dime novel -- A former Confederate soldier, now a bad guy gunslinger terrorizing the wimmen and chilluns in a town Out West, says to the town's mild mannered newspaper editor, "You're a lyin' scurvy yella-bellied milksop and a damn Yankee, too!"
My boyfriend has been playing Red Dead Redemption
which is a game about being a cowboy, and your comment fits hilariously into the script of the game!

The correct phrasing is
vote for someone else
I thought Joe's 'vote for someone else' campaign was pretty effective in Iowa.
We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.
Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.
both - Albert Einstein
Clearly ...
... Joe didn't think it was effective enough, so he's stepping up his game. It's all part of his master plan to build momentum. First he has to drive his performance down, way down. Let's say he gets about a dozen votes statewide in NH. Then he follows up with about a 2% performance in NV, followed by an 8% performance in SC. Then, riding his cresting wave of momentum he will win everything on Super Tuesday.
And here I thought "malarkey" was quaint.
EDIT: apparently the whole phrase is from some John Wayne movie.

So, not so much Confederate soldiers per se
As Confederate soldiers, who, after the war, went out west to massacre Indians.
How does that apply to this situation? I haven't had coffee yet.
Might have been a bad idea to click on an essay about Biden before coffee.

John Wayne
I haven't been able to track down the actual movie, probably something from the 50s when Joe was a teenager and bought a ticket for the matinee for a dime. I think it's his attempt to connect to the young, hip voters.

Twas a joke.
I apologize for any confusion. My comment was a joke in response to gjohnsit's "People don't say that do they?" comment. The term pony soldier is from a 1952 movie and is not connected with The Confederacy or The War of Northern Aggression.
Sorry, edg--
I got it now. It's just really hard nowadays to tell what is and is not a joke. I'm sure you understand!

NOT The Onion!
Biden campaign any time now: "The comment was taken out of context."
Close.
USA Today and Huffington Post are reporting it as "Biden jokingly said...".
Please let there be video of this.
I anticipated Joe stumbling and tanking as he’s done, but he continues to impress me with his efforts to chase voters away. I predict before this is over he’s going to slip and say something so offensive, the wokes in the party will be demanding he drop out.
Idolizing a politician is like believing the stripper really likes you.
Here it is. He says it at the very beginning.
Clear enough!
Also, he doesn’t sound well. I know the acoustics weren’t exactly perfect but his voice was lower in tone and had a scratchy ness.

Good old Dementia Joe.
This guy is not going to be President. Can you imagine what it would have been like had Dan Quayle run for President?

Agree about the dementia
Back in the early 90s
One of my friends joked that there were all these new Quayle campaign posters on the side of the highway. They said “Slower traffic keep right”

Potatoe for Prez!
The poor kid who pointed that out must have been thinking Quayle was, well, an idiot.

He has even more contempt for potential voters than even Her Heinous. Eat shit Joe!!
This shit is bananas.
I thought, when I read it, that goofy Joe
might have been making a stab at being funny. Upon viewing the video, he was angry and damn well meant what he said.

Now in spin cycle.
Here's the headline from USA Today: Joe Biden jokes voters is a 'lying dog-faced pony soldier' in N.H.
[Emphasis added by me; incorrect pluralization of 'voter' by them.]

Is he going to have any left by the time the convention rolls around?
