Tulsi reaches $1,000,000 in donations

Tulsi Gabbard's campaign just hit the $1,000,000 mark in donations received. Here's the email she sent to her supporters a few minutes ago:

I’m writing with a full and hopeful heart, to say THANK YOU.

Last night I asked you to step up and close a $52,000 fundraising gap in just 4 hours ahead of our first FEC deadline of the year. Not only did we hit $1 MILLION with less than an hour to spare, we passed it by $32,000. If we keep this up, we're on track to hit our $1.5 million New Hampshire target.

This team effort meant that today we were able to extend our TV and digital buys, making sure we reach as many people as possible in these critical two weeks before voting begins. It means we’re still in this, still gaining momentum… and I have no intention of slowing down.

I’m blown away by the continued generosity and grit of our movement, as we continue to rise above every obstacle thrown our way, rise above partisan divides, and make sure the voices of We, The People are represented and heard.

I hope you feel proud today of what we did — and will keep doing in the days and months ahead — together. It is my great honor and privilege to be in this race with, and for, all of you.

Mahalo,
Tulsi Gabbard.

Warrior Tulsi.

The first time I saw her in 2016, campaigning with Bernie, I said to myself, "There's the first woman POTUS." Everything I've seen from her so far confirms that feeling.

Despite the corporate media blackout and attempts by the DNC to nullify her, Tulsi's campaign is experiencing a surge. It's going to be interesting (in a good way, I believe) to watch the primaries and caucuses play out.

I will be very surprised if she does not have a major position in the Sanders administration. She seems to be close personally to Bernie and Jane Sanders and Nina Turner. Bernie seems to trust her and feel comfortable with her.

This is turning out to be an exciting time to be alive.

And speculation about a Sanders-Biden ticket are just bizarre.

@snoopydawg And I screen grab all of them--so you may be seeing some again. Are your sources commercial secrets, the source of which you are forbidden to disclose--you know, like Chiaramella?

The stuff of nightmares:

Here's one for you... Bernie wins the nomination. Hillary insists on being VP in the spirit of unity. Bernie tells her to fuck off. She runs third party for president with Bloomberg as VP, screaming she had to do it coz Bernie's not a team player.

@The Voice In the Wilderness in garden fairies and unicorns and that Republicans really care about saving Social Security and promoting democracy around the world.

The HDS is really off the charts in some quarters on the left. Tom Steyer has a better chance of emerging as the nominee. Ditto Michelle, Oprah and Ellen. Probably Jimmy Dore too.

I realize it's still very early in the day, and summa youse are still getting the cobwebs out, would be my explanation for this embarrassing display.

Btw, that Hill piece is written by a Republican hack.

MeanwhileBiden's lead is shrinking in SC, with a rare poll being released there today. Sanders w/n 5 pts -- very interesting, and not entirely unexpected. Biden's SC numbers always looked suspiciously inflated and soft, ripe for the picking. And it was always my view that voters in SC would be looking at which candidates were gaining support elsewhere -- Biden is losing ground in most early states, while Sanders has been clearly moving up.

Lookie too at who's in 3d place -- the affable billionaire Tom Steyer. I don't live in SC and don't plan to, ever, in this lifetime, and I don't know anyone who lives in the Palmetto State. But a wild guess would be that Tom has been saturating the airwaves there with millions in ad buys.

@wokkamile

Like Donna Summer, he worked hard for his money. And look at all the good FDR did for working people! You want to deny him his freedom to do what he wants with his hard earned money? You a commie? (do I need to attach a "/s" ?)

Well, it does look like we will see soon enough what power the MSM still maintains.

If Biden sinks, who are TPTB going to go with? I'm surprised they didn't settle for Warren. They could have but they didn't. It'll be awfully hard for her to bring herself up again to viable status. It could happen but I doubt it. They'd sooner go with Bloomberg. And they really don't have the money to go with any other neoliberal.

@Wally @Wally inherited big time, but only Donald was raking in $200,000/yr from his Daddy starting at age 3. Upped to $1m/yr when he graduated HS or college. I doubt most of his low-information backers are aware of this. (Remind me later to reveal this to my current friendly but confused guest from a Euro country who seems to like Donald, mostly for his tough immigration and Chinese tariff stances. She seemed taken aback when I told her recent surveys have shown most Republicans favor Donnie Jr as their nominee in 2024. Her response: "That doesn't seem very democratic.")

Re TPTB, after seeing that Biden may not be able to survive past SupTues, they will not be looking for another loser who isn't capable of finishing strong, at least by denying Bernie a majority. Not Warren, who has fallen in the polls and does not look like a winner, not Klobbachair who has shown only a modest uptick, nor Bootajudge who shows only narrow support and who may have peaked in early Dec. Bloomie is likely their go-to guy. And he would probably enjoy the backing of the centrist bean counters and morons on Morning Joe, a waste of 3 hours show which exists to reflect the views of the MSM corporate suits.

But I still think this will not be another cycle where the MSM herds us into passively accepting another loser centrist Establishment candidate, because electable etc. Tony Perez and the DNC however will be working f/t to see that just this happens.

@snoopydawg Good grief, what a ticket -- two-two time Presidential run losers together versus Trump, a guy who's not lost? Great move, DNC, just hand the keys to the WH to DJT for another four years ...

@JCWeb
They can posture and pretend to be the Peo0ple's friend, knowing Trump will veto their bills even if they take the Senate. Meanwhile, the MSM, the fossil fuel industry, the banks and so forth MUST pay them Danegeld to get what they want. I suspect their ire with Trump is the Executive Orders (seem unConstitutional to me) bypassing their gate-keeping. If they have no power, they can't collect bribes!

She is the anti-war candidate and she happens to be an attractive woman.

I hope she polls at or over 5% Monday in Iowa and can push a strong showing into the New Hampshire contest.

Hope she can keep the momentum going.

FWIW - was looking at the cross tabs of a recent Marist NH poll that had her at 6%.

Among the interesting bits:

The percentage of independent voters there is much higher than I thought - almost as much as R's and D's combined.

Only Tulsi and Bernie have higher support from I men and women than from D's (Pete B's is higher from I women, but not men).

In Tulsi's case the difference is pretty extreme - for women, four times higher (1%-4%) and among male likely voters fifteen times (!) higher (1%-15%).

Not sure what else it means, but sure does suggest electability.

The latest poll up on FiveThirtyEight (which, bizarrely, still has Warren as most likely to win NH) has Tulsi a point ahead of Klobuchar and only three points behind Warren...
