CNN Moderator Abby Phillip

After last night's debate debacle, I decided to find out who this terrible journalist that CNN forced upon the nation was. Right at the top of a google search was this, even worse article from the WashPo.

There’s nothing stunning, after all, about a CNN debate moderator staying true to the reporting of a CNN political reporter. MJ Lee, a veteran political correspondent, broke the story and based her description on “the accounts of four people: two people Warren spoke with directly soon after the encounter, and two people familiar with the meeting.”

On that basis, the story alleges that Sanders indeed stated that “he did not believe a woman could win.” The headline: “Bernie Sanders told Elizabeth Warren in private 2018 meeting that a woman can’t win, sources say.”...
Including Sanders’s denial, however, is something different from crediting it. Which is to say, CNN didn’t headline the piece with wishy-washy language such as Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren provide competing accounts of private meeting. It’s the considered judgment of Lee and her editors, in other words, that Sanders made this statement.

I don't believe that I have to explain this to the WashPo: That's not how journalism works!

You don't get to decide what is true and what isn't without proof. If you can't prove it then it's only an allegation. Reporting a rumor as fact is propaganda, not journalism.

And speaking of not journalism.

Did CNN report with excessive certainty an exchange that may well have been squishy and fluid? Perhaps. As The Post’s Ruth Marcus notes, the dueling versions of the meeting aren’t actually dueling; instead, they’re separated by “only a few shades of nuance" — the difference between calling out sexism and submitting to it.

Oh really? Those are the only choices.
The idea that Bernie was telling the truth is beyond consideration, huh?

Let's get back to Abby.
She was assigned to cover Hillary's campaign in 2016.
Let's look at a couple examples of that.

Yeh, no bias there.

And the other two moderators were both nasty af. Mostly to Bernie but also to other candidates aside from Warren. They acted like prison camp guards or the Soup Nazi on Seinfeld. CNN is a disgrace to journalism.

Meanwhile a welcome settling tweet from Jane Sanders:

I'm having a problem accessing twitter. I'm not a member and they keep making it more and more difficult for me to embed or copy tweets. You can probably find the methodology if you go directly to the US Politics Polls twitter source or otherwise look it up online. I'm done for today. Gonna watch some travel vlogs or sumptin to get out of the political vortex. Hang in there!!!

They can't all be psychopaths.

Yet would he follow through in the unlikely event he became President? I doubt it.

Cliche though it may be, my first thought in reaction to the "considered judgment" line was to recall this famous story: https://trivia.net/what-filmmaker-was-offered-honorary-aryan-status-by-j...

If you were to read any of the rumormongering WaPo articles about Russia colluding with Trump, or about Russia hacking of the 2016 election, or about Russia hacking a power plant in Vermont, or (going back a ways) about Saddam Hussein having weapons of mass destruction, you'd soon learn that WaPo gave up on journalism decades ago.

So it wouldn't be surprising for them to be another Pravda. Or another Der Sturmer.

he talks about war or potential war. As he started off the questioning at the debate with the topic of war, I thought I saw those boners in his eyes.

He's a mess. And the fact that he is the elevated chief of CNN's reporting teams, it's no wonder that Phillips was so unprofessional in her questioning.

in the first few rows while boarding.

Everywhere I go I wear a subversive t-shirt. It was a no-brainer being in that cesspool of a town on a gig that I'd have on one made by my friends in Socialist Alternative which says, "Make Socialism Great Again," in the exact same layout as Trump's.

I opened my button down shirt a little wider to make sure the whole thing read clearly, and caught eyes with that odious prick.

I'm pretty sure he saw a scary socialist on his plane ride giving him to the 1000 year stare.

Fuck these people. We've got to get in their faces more.

I get compliments. Grocery checkers, food service workers, random people on the street.

I often think one of the best things you can do is just put a bumper sticker on your car - just to let them know we are here, we are not going away and you can join us. It doesn’t even have to be “Bernie Sanders because fcuk this shit” level - just grabbing a bit of mind share is good enough.

Can not tell you just how many really good conversations have been initiated by the stacks of progressive t-shirts I rotate from my drawer onto my back every day, and the wearing of pins on one's jacket or shirt too. It used to be music for me, with band t-shirts actually leading to lifelong friendships. It's that same kind of power, but for real stakes.

To me t-shirts are one of the best ways to initiate conversation. Agree about bumperstickers also. We carefully consider them before putting on. Currently the three most prominent are "Corporate Media: The Rich Telling the Middle Class to Blame the Poor," "They're Lying," and "Not Me, Us." To me that paints a pretty good and broad picture to get someone to start thinking.

Another favorite is to scrawl some simple subversive idea onto a wall in a well-trafficked part of town. "Tax The Rich," "Abolish The Police,""Prosecute the Banks," or "Wall St Economic Terrorists" all work.

Graffiti is like a public conversation on a wall.
