Tulsi goes on the View to hit back against the smears
Rep. Tulsi Gabbard fights back against Clinton's remarks, calls them 'demeaning'
In her third appearance on the show this year, Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, appeared on "The View" Wednesday fighting back against those who have questioned her loyalty to her party and the country.
"It's offensive to me as a soldier, as an American, as a member of congress, as a veteran, and frankly as a woman, to be so demeaned in this way," Gabbard told the hosts. "I am a patriot, I love our country ... I have dedicated almost my entire adult life to protecting the safety, security and freedom of all Americans in this country.”
"Hillary Clinton throughout her career has led with a foreign policy of interventionism and being the world's police going and toppling dictators in other countries that has caused such destruction and loss of life. I'm against that," Gabbard clapped back after the hosts asked her about the confrontation. "I'm running for president to change that. Rather than actually debate me on the issues, she and others are resorting to these smear tactic campaigns seeking to undermine me, smear my character and sending a message to anyone who dissents toe the line, or you too will be smeared."
Joy Behar wasn't going to let Hillary take a hit like Tulsi gave her and she asked her why she goes on Fox News. Just who decided that it's unacceptable for people to go on any show when they are running for office?
When "The View" co-host Joy Behar asked Gabbard why she appeared on Fox News, she said she wanted to speak to the entire electorate.
“I am here to speak to every single American in this country about the unifying leadership that I want to bring as president, not just speak to those who agree with me," she said. "But to speak to those who may disagree with me, recognizing that I'm asking for the opportunity to serve every single person in this country.”
Video compliments to Humphrey!
I can't embed the video and you have to watch it to see the full effect of how snotty Joy was. Joy asks Tulsi what proof she has that Hillary is a warmonger. Seriously, Joy? That Tulsi even has to address the smears against her in the first place is one thing, but for other women to take part in them just irks me to no end.

I saw it posted
somewhere. Tulsi doesn’t back down. She’s not afraid of confrontation. I like that about her. Joy is a bitch - plain and simple. But Tulsi is not afraid to confront her accusers and set the record straight. I’ll bet it was tweeted out.

Agree with you on Joy
She comes across as a total tool for her pay masters. This was tweeted out and it's getting lots of hits. This is how I found it.

They're all assholes on that show,
so fucking ignorant. And yet, I know women who watch that shit, every day, and swear by it.
We wanted decent healthcare, a living wage and free college.
The Democrats gave us Biden and war instead.
It was tweeted out
What Joy Behar did was first try to interrupt Tulsi as she was speaking, Tulsi shut her down on that point. Then second, Joy repeated the Russian asset assertion which is, in effect, accusing a sitting Congresswoman who has very high level security clearance and a Major in the National Guard of committing a crime which could be punishable by death. This is more than just a smear. It is a serious allegation and the Hillbots and their bought off media are continuing to push it. It is a very dangerous road they are going down and it pisses me off regardless of who is being smeared.
Joy Behar is a tool of the oligarchy and a hack. All of them on The View are hacks, but Joy Behar has been the most annoying of late.
Do I hear the sound of guillotines being constructed?

Agree, all around.
Joy is slandering Tulsi. It's beyond the pale! I'm very happy Tulsi confronted her on a very popular daytime show that, I'm sure, many record and watch later.
Anyway - I agree with your comment, gg, thanks.

I think it's amazing that they've had her on the show 3 times. Do they like being made to look like complete idiots? Because it's so obvious that Tulsi is 100 times more intelligent than all of them put together. But also, other than Tucker Carlson, who else has had her on their show (in the MSM)? I mean, I like that they've had her on, I just don't understand why. Because this is the MSM. MSM prefers propaganda over truth. Do they think they're making her look bad every time she goes on there? I'm sorry. It just confuses me. Maybe that's the point?
I think the reason people are saying that no dem should go on
Fox is because Warren said that she wouldn't do it because their views further sexism and misogyny. Since then every dem that has gone on it has been slammed by the ID politics crew. Why any candidate would limit themselves to just going on a left or right viewed program is dumb. Tulsi and Bernie have said that they are running to be pres of all Americans. Which is as it should be.

I'm not criticizing
It just confuses me. I guess that's what happens when you know the MSM lies all the time. Always trying to figure out their reasons for doing what they do.
Edit: Fixed the subject line
I didn't think you were doing that
I meant to include this in my comment, but it's morning and I forgot...
But it looks like I misread your comment. I thought you were asking why people had a problem with Fox, not the view. Since Warren said what she did it is now bad for any dem to go on Fox cuz of reasons that don't make sense to us in the sane world.
Good question indeed. I don't know why they would unless they wanted to again drive home the point about what Hillary said. If so, Tulsi handed them their buttocks. Bigly.

Well, I think they have her on the show because
it gets people to watch their show. The View appears to be all about controversy and loud arguments. I don’t watch it myself, but I have this impression because I’m always seeing headlines in the “entertainment” section of the news about that show and it’s always who blew up at who, or who walked off the stage in a huff, or who said something outrageous that caused a ruckus. People apparently love a cat fight. So inviting a person with controversial views is not surprising to me. In this case they had parroted Hillary and called Tulsi a “useful idiot” so it was personal and likely to be a slam fest. Good for ratings.
Here’s the thing: I don’t believe that every moment on television is all about political messaging. TV shows exist to make money. That means getting high ratings and a large audience tuning in. I think that’s what they care about, and making Tulsi Gabbard (or anyone else) look good or bad is secondary at most, if it’s even a consideration at all.
I did watch the clip, out of curiosity, and personally I didn’t find it came across as very beneficial to Gabbard. I thought it’s a shame that her campaign has gotten bogged down in defensiveness about Hillary’s wild accusations. On The View she didn’t get to talk about her platform, it was all defending her honor against Hillary’s stupid attack and those View women who parroted it. I thought she’d handled that well enough already and should move back to her core message. That’s just my personal impression of course.
It's a floor wax AND a dessert topping
These things needn't be mutually exclusive; it's very easy for both to be true at the same time.
TV shows exist to make money, for sure, but they are also very useful for messaging and that they are frequently employed for this purpose is not at all at odds with making money. Once a show like The View has an established audience, that show is both a moneymaking tool as well as a tool which can be used to manipulate its audience. This is why shows like Ellen, for example, book guests like W.
Look at sportsing events for another example. The NFL exists to make money, nobody doubts that. But if you've seen how the football programs have changed over the past decade or two, you can't really doubt that they're also being used to increase nationalism, support for the wars, and a kind of military worship in general.
Of course
I thought I’d said that these activities are not mutually exclusive. My apologies if my post was unclear. What I’d said was, not *every moment* on television is about political messaging.
This doesn’t at all mean that *no* television is ever used to embed political (and other types) of messaging and subliminal manipulation. Another key point to television In general is to sell products, of all kinds. And, of course, to set societal boundaries — sometimes to stretch them, often to reinforce and tighten them. This is why I don’t watch tv much, am selective in what I do watch, and am always on the lookout for (some might say hypersensitive to) manipulations on tv. And this actually applies to all content, including books, movies, news, essays and articles, and blog posts.
Looking for the magicians tricks is always on my mind.
Anyway, back to this discussion, I was responding specifically to Jen who wondered why The View invites Tulsi Gabbard on their show. In my opinion (and it is only that) — I still believe it’s part of their strategy to draw viewers, as they often have guests on basically just to argue with them. I just saw another headline that they had Donnie Jr on, and something something was said ... and someone took him to task.... blah blah.
If you think they have some kind of coherent political agenda behind this pattern, I’d love to know what that is... because I really don’t see it. Well, other than the overarching agenda of “normalizing” this kind of show, with name calling and heated arguments and nobody listening to anyone, as just what political discourse should look like. But if it’s to benefit any specific political agenda beyond bring a popular money making show, what would it be?
I wouldn't call it coherent, heh
It's the same agenda as is being broadcast on ABC news or MSNBC, just aimed at demographics that don't like to watch the news and would rather get their infotainment and political views from daytime talk shows or SNL or Comedy Central.
Sorry if my earlier comment came off in any way argumentative, it wasn't, I was just trying to share a slightly different perspective.
The name Joy for that woman is
the most unfitting name I would say.

Thanks for the Kim video
This is a must watch. The revolving door between government and the military has got to stop. How though...
Ugh! Just listening to Herheinous speak is like fingernails on a chalkboard!
Good lord, Whoopie. Are you surprised about the bots and being demeaned by Hillary? No shit she is surprised!
Joy saying that Hillary believed the lies about the wars is just bullsh*t. The PNAC gang sent a letter to Bill about wanting him to start the Iraq war and I'm pretty sure that Hillary knew about it so she would know that Iraq was on the table.
Very interesting info on the think tank and who is in it. We know that a new Cold War with Russia is one reason for Russia Gate. Too bad it's working on so many people. Putin kicked out all American NGOs before the last election and that was why he won with over 70%. Smart guy.
Kim should send the video to Joy. Hillary saying that Putin doesn't have a soul? Pot - kettle, Hills!
Boy did we luck out when Her lost! Bitter. Angry. Sorest loser in history.

Proof?
Is it ok to call Hillary a warmonger but not Warren? Just askin' for a friend.
Was Warren ever under fire in Bosnia?
I've seen lots of changes. What doesn't change is people. Same old hairless apes.
huh? - Warren ?
neither Clinton nor Warren were to my knowledge. or did i miss the snark in your comment?
What a bunch of frigging idiots on the View. Can't believe what Whoopy has become. I think they need to be sent into a war zone, may be that will cure them. O lord, save us from women gone totally nuts.
I am really happy to not be able to see US mainstream TV here in Germany. The few clips I see through this site are enough to kill myself if I wouldn't still be needed by some people.

Hillary told us that she landed in Bosinia
under sniper fire, but the video of the event showed that she did not and was welcomed with a ceremony with little kids at it. This has hung around her neck since she said that.

I remember that well, just didn't get the snark with
asking about the same for Warren. Jokes and snarks and irony is hardes to understand for me for a non native English speaker. C'est la vie. Sigh.

Yes, I should have added a tag.

Ummm Wally
The show was about HILLARY calling Tulsi a Russian asset and Tulsi's response to it. Why would anyone bring up Warren in that situation? BTW.. was Warren secretary of state or had any other role like Hillary did? Come on... BTW do you have anything to say about the things Tulsi said?

warmongering
There was another recent essay where folks were being called to task for using the term "warmonger" because we should somehow be "better than that."
I have often called Warren a warmonger because of her two votes for Trump's military budget plus increasing it. There are other reasons that I think justify the characterization as well.
Tulsi rightfully imo called Hillary a warmonger. I was wondering if by the same line of reasoning it was ok to also call Warren one.
I really don't think it was so off topic to bring it up, especially considering that many people here have been hoping that Tulsi calls Warren out on US foreign policy.
What do I have to say about Tulsi? I've sent a few monetary donations her way but have stopped because I have developed some concerns about her militarism in general and I'd really like a better sense of exactly under what circumstances she would apply US military force.
I'm glad she's going to be in the debate.
Eh, I find the
When Liz starts talking about going to war somewhere, then I will reconsider. Until then, while her military budget votes are very fair game to ask her about in the debates for instance, and I'd like to know her rationale, they just don't amount to warmongering. A Pentagon enabler yes, but not quite a warmonger.
Re Tulsi, my sense is that she wants to withdraw from foreign hot spot military adventures -- Iraq and Syria -- while tending to strictly limit use of military forces for things like combatting actual active terrorism where it can be fought realistically. Note, I believe she is definitely not interested in using a war on terrorism policy as a cover, as GWB did, for US colonialism.
While I would prefer she go still further and call for US troops to be removed from all foreign outposts, such an ideal position would be getting way too far out ahead of the public. Perhaps it's something for the 2028 cycle, if this country is still around then to have another presidential.
Voting for those budgets funds those wars
And increasing that funding to boot all amounts to warmongering in my book.
In my view, that's what's extreme.
It will be interesting to watch how Tulsi deals with Warren at the next debate. At the last debate, she posed questions to Warren at the end of her allotted time which allowed the moderators to cut her off. When she went after Harris, she made the criticism that needed to be made and asked no questions. I hope she opts for the latter strategy vis-a-vis Warren this time around. It would be nice for her to go after Biden, too, like Bernie has done or even more extensively for his Iraq vote and his backing of Obama's droning policies.
Decide for yourselves who the warmongers are.
The Council on Foreign Relations has reviewed them both.
They featured Tulsi Gabbard's Foreign Policy positions in their Blog:
Election 2020: Tulsi Gabbard, Democratic Presidential Candidate
Elizabeth Warren wrote a Foreign Policy paper describing her views for the Council on Foreign Relations' magazine, Foreign Affairs:
A Foreign Policy for All — Strengthening Democracy at Home and Abroad.
You forgot Bernie's article in Foreign Affairs
Ending America's Endless Wars
A snippet:
I didn't really forget Bernie.
Just saving him for a different topic.
The CFR has a compilation of all the candidates' foreign policy answers, HERE.
It's a good link to keep handy.
From the 6 min
clip I saw, Tulsi gave as good as she got. Better even. Strong showing.
Just wish she had mentioned the New McCarthyism infesting the Dem left, on full display with some on that View panel. Also she could have fleshed out some more why she goes on Tucker -- 1) unlike some Dem candidates, she is not going to hold a media outlet to some ideological purity test, and it's a way to reach some possible reachable voters on Fox, and 2) the other major outlets -- CNN and Msnbc -- don't invite her, at least on their prime time shows. A mention of Rachel Maddow shutting her out would have been appropriate, and it would have been entertaining to see Joy's reaction.
Very glad Tulsi will be in the next debate. Will expect her to continue some pointed questions at Liz, and hope she has one or two for Boot.
This
I don't know if she has addressed that or not. I am thing she has, but it would have been great if she had thrown the View's McCarthyism in their face. Maybe Tulsi should watch the Kim video if she isn't aware of the think tank wanting to get a war on with Russia.

Tulsi looked so dignified and calm
But I may be biased. The TV cameras did the View no favors. I was looking around for reactions and went to The Young Turks first. Ana Kasperian just used the appearance to bash Tulsi. I stopped looking around. I know what I saw.
My hope now is that Tulsi will change the conversation over foreign policy away from neocon warmongering to that of diplomacy first. I think she would be a tremendous Secretary of State, but I don't see that happening regardless of which democrat wins (if they win at all).
Here is the View's take on their show
Sure. Just every one else in the world knew who she was talking about. And most of the main stream media thought that she was talking about Tulsi. Other than that.

Hey Joy..here's your proof
Any questions on whether she is a warmonger? Oh you still have some? Look up what her role was in destroying Libya and killing Gaddafi. You did see that video of her cackling with glee after watching him get murdered? I hope people are writing to the view womin and giving them lots of crap. If it'd do any good.

Hmm..I wonder why Joy didn't interrupt lil Don?
The Judge and Megan are very quiet for some reason here. But yeah talk about unreal. ABC stashed their story on Epstein's ties to the Clintons and prince Andrew, but has lots of strength to carry water for Hillary. Oh wait..is there a tie there between both stories?
