For those who prefer not to read at DK, the post over there says that OPOL died suddenly of a massive heart attack.
I am sad that he is gone. At the same time, feel that for him, it was a gift to go suddenly without suffering a long illness.

Many have experienced the pain of small deaths, incrementally eating away at us. Think I'd rather take his approach. A very thoughtful man.

of the C99% screen where it points to his book. Hope his life was happy -- sounds like it was -- and that he's in a good place now among all the gentle souls who went before him. Wear your love like heaven, OPOL. May we all be together again someday.

This shit is bananas.

...and romancing a futuretopia that was such a dynamic and enlightened place, with a superb views of the of the entire cosmos. It was a recurring visual mood in his writing, regardless of the topic. If you clicked on one of his essays, there was a chance you might be pulled into his utopia where you would scroll and scroll while love would fall like rain and peace would break out across the sky — because that's how nature rolled in that place. I never doubted that OPOL had somehow caught a glimpse of this exuberant utopia, across time. And I don't doubt that's where he is now, wearing his love like heaven.

he always talked so friendly to me, I will not forget him. Will go over to TOP and read some more.

As we all try to take our love to heaven, we'll meet again, there. Rest in peace, dear OPOL. You were a friend. And that was a gift. Thank you.

@mimi
and the many names joining in there I do remember made me really sad that I can|t log in there and join them. So many of them I remember fondly.

What a strange enterprise TOP has become.

"Obama promised transparency, but Assange is the one who brought it."

I just reread one of his essays on Sunday about diet. What a wonderful and compassionate man he was. Like many have said, glad his passing was sudden.
A great loss for our community and keep your love flowing on the other side. Will miss you OPOL.

Sad news indeed. I had a fair bit of interaction with Randy, both in public and in private. He was truly one of a kind. Passionate in his political beliefs and a friend to many, he will be missed a great deal.

RIP, my friend. You did good in life.

and friends--real life and virtual.

Actually, I never knew him at DKos, but, from what I've read of his writings, here, know that he was a kind, compassionate, peace-loving, and very decent soul. His presence will be sorely missed by all.

Rest In Peace . . .

I’m gutted by your loss, and reaching at the same time for consolation that you have found the peace you always prayed for and inspired in others.

With deep appreciation for your ever-lasting love and presence that I'm sure will always live in the life of others.

Altogether wonderful and online by clicking here

In the short week that I managed to survive at TOP without really realizing at the time what I had stepped into, I do recall OPOL's essays so vivid and poignant with all his mindblowing graphics.
