AOC & Bernie, sittin' in a tree ...

Without further ado, I present:

thumb_Kissing Cousins.jpg

AOC, Sanders dine at Burlington's Penny Cluse Cafe (Seven Days article).

Two admissions:

1) Personally, I don't much care; and

b) I've vowed not to engage in Silly Season discussions aside from making snide comments about the duopoly and its candidates (so the joke's on me!).

That said, I do know that others here feel differently and may not have seen this bit of news.

If #1 above weren't true, I'd be wondering whether Bernie was merely courting AOC's endorsement, or if this were a discussion about a potential VP pick. Hmmmmmm. What do you all think?

(Third admission: I've been so buried in deadlines that I've barely stopped by the last several weeks, so my apologies if this has already been covered elsewhere).

Happy discussing and hope everyone's well!

If I get to a tipping point, which may happen come March 3, 2020 (Super Tuesday), I won't care and given having reached the state of not caring, I won't see any reason to discuss politics anywhere.
Others think/feel differently, I'm sure.

My guess on AOC endorsing Bernie is that it's just a matter of timing. She's being a tease which is smart politics all around at this point in time. The matter has been discussed in detail on The Rising:

@Wally "She's being a tease which is smart politics all around at this point in time." That may be true for the typical corporatist BS, but I see no reason why AOC shouldn't be up front about it. She didn't win by being coy, and it doesn't serve her well to start now.

@tle

She makes some excellent points worthy of consideration.

Right now, all the attention is on impeachment, so I don't think it's a bad idea to wait so a carefully timed endorsement can make more of a splash.

But yea, the sooner the better.

@tle unethical or sleazy about AOC operating on her own timetable before associating her name prominently with a candidate.

Politically it's wise for her to take a little time on this decision as we are still 4 months or so from IA. And she might find it useful to see whether Bernie's recent slight dip in the polls relative to Liz is a trend or just a temporary blip.

Not that endorsements matter for much. Though if they have some positive effect, AOC would be one of the very few whose endorsement does bring a small boost.

@Wally for AOC, my early morning math says she would be eligible for VP or P in the next presidential cycle. She turns 30 on Oct 13, per wiki.

Would be nice if she ran for Schemer's senate seat or Cuomo's job to get a little more seasoning before the 2024 cycle. Nice but not essential.

Meantime, I'd rec she stay away from small planes, and from going into the kitchen to shake hands with workers after giving a ballroom speech. Also, per Jackie, always make sure she has a reliable, loyal driver who can't be bought off.

Heh - right. Totally spaced on her lack of eligibility.

Joke #2 on me!
