ByeDone endorses MyBoss 2020

With his lead in the polls shrinking, the former vice president is summoning the spirit of his old boss

New Joe Biden Campaign Ad Endorses Barack Obama

Joe Biden’s pitch as a presidential candidate is first and foremost about the eight years he spent next to Barack Obama, and the the 76-year-old former vice president has not been shy about touting his relationship to America’s most popular Democrat. Biden cites Obama regularly on the campaign trail, and his 2020 platform is largely a testament to everything the Obama administration accomplished prior to Trump taking office. In June, Biden even tweeted a picture of a “Joe” and “Barack” friendship bracelet, complete smiley-face and pizza-slice charms. “Happy #BestFriendDay to my friend, @BarackObama,” he wrote.

Most of Biden’s displays of reverence to the 44th president came when he had a commanding lead in the polls. Ahead of the third debate, however, Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders are well within striking distance of the longtime frontrunner. The Biden campaign responded on Thursday by dipping into its emergency reserves of Obama nostalgia, releasing a new, minute-long campaign ad in which Biden praises the former president before reminding Americans that it is the “Obama-Biden” legacy they should be so proud of.

“We should step back and say something we don’t often say enough as a party or as a nation: Barack Obama is an extraordinary man,” Biden says in the ad, speaking to a campaign-trail audience as images of Obama Ken-Burns-effect across the screen. The crowd roars. “I watched up close,” Biden continues. “He has character, courage, and vision. He was a president our children could and did look up to. He was a great president.”

The ad has a not-so-sub subcontext: It’s a broadside against the progressive candidates who have at times explicitly or implicitly criticized the former president’s record as they push the party to the left. Warren and Sanders have both pushed for legislation that would replace the Affordable Care Act’s coverage system with universal coverage, and candidates across the field have vowed to cut back on some of the anti-undocumented immigration measures — namely, various types of deportation — that the 44th president oversaw.

We’re convinced. #Obama2020.

Here is another article that talks about why ByeDone should drop out of the race.

This article talks about his legislation that hurt blacks

This is why he was asked this question at last night's debate:

“I do not buy the concept, popular in the ’60s, which said, ‘We have suppressed the black man for 300 years and the white man is now far ahead in the race for everything our society offers. In order to even the score, we must now give the black man a head start, or even hold the white man back, to even the race,’ ” Biden told a Delaware-based weekly newspaper in 1975. “I don’t buy that.”

Here is the transcript of his answer

Right on, Jimmy! But I think Booker is more like James Kirk the first.

There were problems with running a campaign of Joy while committing a genocide? Who could have guessed?

I think we’re getting to that point.

And I was about to give Joe backhanded credit for at least being consistent when it comes to his towndeafness on race rather than dashing out a disingenuous pander line. But it occurred to me, not only does he not think there was anything wrong with what he said, he couldn’t put together a bullshit response on the fly if his life depended on it. Again, this is why I say these “gaffes” are him accidentally saying the quiet parts out loud. It’s really simple as that.

@Dr. John Carpenter that one day Joe Biden would overtake Sarah Palin on the frequency and magnitude of word vomit eruptions!

Agree regarding gaffes. When one "misspeaks" all the time, is one actually misspeaking (and I detest this as a dodge from accepting responsibility for saying stupid shit.)

I am fatigued by the corporate media's attempts at gaslighting us about how allegedly well Joe Biden is doing in this campaign. He's a non-stop debacle with what my eyes and ears are subjected to, but then I read "news" outlets fanning themselves that everything is coming up aces and Joe is The Man. Ughhhh it peels the emamel right off my teeth.

@Le Frog which is why they’re in freak out mode over Castro. “How dare you question Biden’s mental capacity?” Uhh...he just accused him of going back on something he’d said earlier, which used to be a standard thing at debates. Some of the defenders are doing way more harm than good.

@Dr. John Carpenter of calling out Joe Biden. The fact that Castro is being criticized for pointing out the obvious is madness and I am disgusted by how Castro making a perfectly true observation is the bigger transgression than Joe Biden acting out of his mind and spewing racist nonsense. It's infuriating how blatant the bias is.

@Dr. John Carpenter in an upcoming debate, after Biden has invoked Obama a few times, that's a great line to throw back at him -- "Joe, you were right to call out Giuliani in 2008 for running on A noun and a verb and 911. And your reason for running can be boiled down to A noun and a verb and Barack Obama".

Simple, and kind of obvious, but I don't recall seeing it before. Rec you send along your excellent suggestion to the Bernie camp -- David Sirota perhaps.

It ain't just the matter of word salad it seems. Just a few examples:

@wokkamile Alas, it’s becoming new pretty clear Biden is off limits. Who knows though? If another bottom ticket Dem gets desperate enough, maybe someone will try it?

I think they mean "Lead" as in lead-balloon or lead zepplin or lead anchor.

Once it was clear that 1) the majority of voters were pro-equality and 2) none of his owners vetoed equality, then yeah, sure, he led from behind on that one.

Biden, Castro and Buttigieg all represent the Obama donor wing.

So it's not a good sign for the Obamabots when Mayor Pete has to break up a spat between his teammates on live TV.

The current working assumption appears to be that our Shroedinger's Cat system is still alive. But what if we all suspect it's not, and the real problem is we just can't bring ourselves to open the box?

. . . now I'm wondering:

Seems like they broke up if that's true.

Maybe Warren really is firmly in the Herheinous camp.

I dunno.

Whatever the case, Warren's twice voting for and increasing Trump's military budgets was deal breaking to the max for me.

But Warren is doing such a good job pretending to be a Progressive that Hillary is having a tough time convincing her retrograde corporate donor base that Lefty Liz will be a team player once the election is over.

Overall, both traditional Dem powerhouses are fielding especially weak and divided squads this season, which makes it the perfect opportunity for a dark horse like Team Bernie to win the playoffs.

That is, if the refs don't steal the Series again....

What about Hillary and Kamala?

Maybe Herheinous is just playing both Warren and Kamala (and others) towards stifling Biden from getting the nomination on the first ballot. Shudder, shudder.

In any case, it seems to be the case that there's a Obama/Biden vs Hillary and whoever fight going on that's not being addressed much and certainly not in the MSM.

@Wally @Wally
Team Hillary races Warren, Harris, Booker, and Klobuchar.

Team Obama races Biden, Buttigieg, Castro, and Yang.

Team Bernie races Bernie and is allied with Tulsi*, who bolted Team Hillary in 2016.

(*I don't say Team Bernie 'races' Tulsi because small money Progressive campaign organizations aren't run "top-down" the same way big money Corporatist ones are. Bernie and Tulsi are more like an alliance of independent outfits.)

Beto's an interesting case because he originally tried playing on Team Obama but then later flirted will Team Hillary. He's a bit of a free agent at this point, which may actually end up being an advantage in the long run.

My take on the Team Obama flameout is that Castro doesn't like being relegated to third in the Team Obama racing order. By taking out Biden, he figures to make it a two way race between him and Buttigieg for top Team Obama driver - a race he thinks he has a good shot at winning.

For all his ramblings, Joe actually had his best line of the night against Castro:

CASTRO: It automatically enrolls people regardless of whether they choose to opt in or not. If you lose your job, for instance, his health care plan would not automatically enroll you. You would have to opt in. My health care plan would. That's a big difference. I'm fulfilling the legacy of Barack Obama, and you're not.

BIDEN: That'll be a surprise to him.

Then notice who jumps in:

STEPHANOPOULOS: Andrew Yang?

YANG: Come on, guys.

BUTTIGIEG: This is why presidential debates are becoming unwatchable.

KLOBUCHAR: Yeah.

BUTTIGIEG: This reminds everybody of what they cannot stand about Washington, scoring points against each other, poking at each other, and telling each other that — my plan, your plan. Look, we all have different visions for what is better...

CASTRO: Yeah, that's called the Democratic primary election, Pete. That's called an election.

Buttigieg saw what was happening and tried to step between Biden and Castro, then Castro turned on Buttigieg.

Not a good look for Team Obama when your stable of candidates are spatting publicly over the rights to your namesake's legacy like a dysfunctional family bickering over a will.

And yet another example of how Big Money simply does NOT have its shit together AT ALL this cycle.

. . . when Castro was attacking Biden?

Any inkling what that was about? It struck me as odd.

Your horse racing team analogy may well be apt.

That Castro diverged from any possible kind of script, though, indicates there is at least some degree of individual agency.

The next debate, btw, is again going to be on two nights, with five candidates on stage each time.

...just how much individual agency Team Obama is willing to allow.

Corporatists really don't like when their agents don't follow script.

Whether Castro can survive the consequences of his petty rebellion remains to be seen.

Someone wrote about her MFA plan and said it leaves a lot of questions about what she is doing....first comment was

I am finding it unpleasant the degree to which policy details are being dissected when the #1 point is to defeat Trump and the GOP

Okay then let's just stop having the candidates campaign and no more debates and shoot straight to voting. We can just be surprised by what the president does after he/she gets in office. From there it went to defending the ACA through incrementalism and for gawd's sake don't get rid of the insurance companies! Lmao.. from "I didn't get a pony" to I don't want a f'cking pony anymore! I like my employer insurance dammit!!"
