Opening the door to the photo journalists among us. Tried fumbling with the camera, results follow. All said and done.
It's not so much what you see as how you see it.
Your perceptions may vary.
If you can stretch your imagination this looked like a face. Windows are the eyes, shadow is the nose, plywood shelf drying in the sun was a smirk, dryer vent a beauty spot?
@QMS
Add a guitar neck and some strings to the smile in the second shot and it would make a nice abstract guitar.

(riffed from some song).
Yeah, I like the idea of adding strings on a long neck. Fits.
Tonight, met a gal on the beach with a camera hanging on a strap around her neck the size of an elephant trunk. Axed bout it. Taking shots at autistic kids riding a surfboard with an instructor. Could click their expressions many times a second. Shown Is how they change emotion multiple times a minute. Pretty cool.
Then, went out-side and perceived an array of fire flies blinking in the bushes. Just wow. So much quieter than the urban warfare going on last night!

Everyone thinks they have the best dog, and none of them are wrong.

like our Alaskan Sourdough and Field Springer who lived to be 17-1/2 years old (not 'Mister B')--her features were much more delicate and sharper than a Bench Springer.
But, my 'guess' is that it's not a Field Springer.
A Border Collie, a Sheltie, or, an Aussie--maybe?
Am I way off?
Whatever--your photos are absolutely spectacular.
Again, thank you.

There’s something about cedar shingles that have always enchanted me.They make a nice weathered skin.
As of today I am domiciled for the next 2 1/2 months in Florida with my mom. Had a very bumpy descent and landing through the thunderclouds, and once outside I was greeted by the thickest air imaginable.
Thank you QMS for your wonderful support of community spirit and quirky sensibilities.

Scientists are concerned that conspiracy theories may die out if they keep coming true at the current alarming rate.
One of the most gut-bustingly funny categories of things ever is candid photography of bizarre signs, billboards, marquees, headlines, ads, graffiti, etc. I used to have (and still should, if only I could find it) a huge book published by National Lampoon that was just a huge collection of some of the funniest things ever. While that collection's more than a bit dated, the tradition continues:

I know that, but somehow in my current state I confused it. Must be a result of changing locations and climes and even hemispheres that my brain hasn't caught up with.

@janis b
it's a water lilly. Others will call it an iris.
I've spent three years trying to get close enough to make sense of it.
I call iris. (In three feet of water).
Maybe not.
@Pricknick@Pricknick
Great Iris photo! In case anyone comes back ... just to be proper about the name. Irises can and do grow in water or at water's edge, but also grow terrestrially. A Water Lily is an aquatic plant that only grows in water. A Water Lily has round floating leaves at the water's surface, the plant is underwater, save to top of the leaves and flower. Irises are monocots, like grasses, all veination in the leaves is parallel without intersecting. Leaves are long, narrow, and linear. Water Lillies are dicots with intersecting leaf veination. The Water Lily flower is a cup like affair, as someone posted a photo of last week maybe (of a weird orange one). The draping petals on your flower are typical Iris petals. Most Water Lily flowers are nocturnal openers which will remain open under overcast skies, but usually close in the sun. Yellow Cow Lily (Nuphar lutea or somesuch) is the common Yellow Water Lily across the southern U.S.
Great photo, beautiful flower.

Regardless of the path in life I chose, I realize it's always forward, never straight.
First a smiling (apparently happy) butterfly: Florida White - though this is the continental form, the Mexican Tropical White, a different subspecies, but still Appias drusilla.
A Black-and-white Warbler in the birdbath.
Yellow Flax - which seems pretty orange to me...
Red-tailed Hawk - this is the Fuertes' (ssp. fuertesi) Red-tail, of the southwestern U.S. They are very pale and almost unmarked below.
This is a juvenile Green Kingfisher out of the nest but still begging, making sure mom has noticed that it has noticed she has no fish for it.
Have a great weekend all!
Thanks everyone for all the great stuff, comments, music, thoughts and ideas.

Nice smile theme, QMS
Add a guitar neck and some strings to the smile in the second shot and it would make a nice abstract guitar.

It's a lot to describe the magic there. Pin pricks of light, blinking at random. Communicating by the frequency of the flashes.

Here's the closest I've come in years to fire flies

And I thought the dog was trippy.

Thankfully there's a pool at my mom's, and that I love swimming. Always happy to see you too snoopy.
