SURPRISE! Joe Biden announced he is running for POTUS.

This is the most unexpected news since someone reported that, roughly every twenty-four hours, the sun rises in the east. Please try to recover from the shock.

Creepy, privileged Joe Biden finally formally entered the race for the Democratic Presidential nomination.

CBS This Morning described him as "Uncle Joe, regular Joe," who will get the working class votes Democrats lost in the 2016 Presidential. Meanwhile, any reader of Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr.'s wikipedia article knows better. But, why on earth would we expect an alleged newsperson on a major network to know as much about a politician as his wikipedia article contains? And, if they don't know, it doesn't matter: They'll give you the establishment version of the hair inhaler anyway.

Oh, yes, they also said he was "considered" the frontrunner. Funny, I never heard that said about Sanders, who has led in most polls for months. I wonder why that is?

Speaking of the hair inhaler, he said he knew that he had to enter the race because America is facing the biggest threat it has faced in his lifetime.

Well, that, and he has obviously wanted to be President for a long time, which I happen to believe is the only reason he has enlarged an already large Democratic field.

The number of Democrats who have announced for the Presidency is now about 22. Remember all the snark from the Democratic faithful calling large Republican fields "clown car?" Please don't hold me to it, but I think this Democratic field is larger than any Republican field in the last decade. But, I don't expect the kings and queens of hypocrisy and double standards to say a word about the size of this field.

Bit of hubris there, to imply that, with all those Dems in the race, America needs to be rescued Joe Biden. What the hell does that say about the rest of the Dem field? And what makes Joe Biden so different from them? Oh, that's right: He "gets it." Or so he says, just before making it crystal clear that he doesn't get it.

but the expression itself was the title (and subject) of an article in her privately published magazine, The Objectivist. I think it may have been written (coined?) by Alan Greenspan.

This was forty and more years ago, and my recollections have become (mercifully?) vague, but I still recall the annoyance I felt at Poppy Bush daring to steal, so openly, from such a source.

@WIProgressive Dems will be seeking someone who's the opposite of Trump (per a former GWB political adviser), Tulsi would be one obvious candidate.

She has a very tough mountain to climb however, and it must start with making a breakthrough in the early debates.

Joe Biden has been making his 2016 deliberations all about his late son since August.

Aug. 1, to be exact — the day renowned Hillary Clinton-critic Maureen Dowd published a column that marked a turning point in the presidential speculation.

According to multiple sources, it was Biden himself who talked to her, painting a tragic portrait of a dying son, Beau’s face partially paralyzed, sitting his father down and trying to make him promise to run for president because "the White House should not revert to the Clintons and that the country would be better off with Biden values.”

It was no coincidence that the preliminary pieces around a prospective campaign started moving right after that column. People read Dowd and started reaching out, those around the vice president would say by way of defensive explanation. He was just answering the phone and listening.

But in truth, Biden had effectively placed an ad in The New York Times, asking them to call.

Before that moment and since, Biden has told the Beau story to others. Sometimes details change — the setting, the exact words. The version he gave Dowd delivered the strongest punch to the gut, making the clearest swipe at Clinton by enshrining the idea of a campaign against her in the words of a son so beloved nationally that his advice is now beyond politics. This campaign wouldn’t be about her or her email controversy, the story suggests, but connected to righteousness on some higher plane.

throated support of Obama in 200--AND not challenging him in 2012--was a promise from Obama, Biden AND Democratic Party PTB that they would do all they could to clear the way for Clinton to be the Democratic Party nominee in 2016. I don't believe for a second that Biden didn't run in 2016 because his family son had died.
