Amazon guarantees third-party drivers for its Flex program a minimum of $18 to $25 per hour, but the entirety of that payment doesn’t always come from the company. If Amazon’s contribution doesn’t reach the guaranteed wage, the e-commerce giant makes up the difference with tips from customers, according to documentation shared by five drivers.
In emails to drivers, Amazon acknowledges it can use “any supplemental earnings” to meet the promised minimum should the company's own contribution fall short.
“We add any supplemental earnings required to meet our commitment that delivery partners earn $18-$25 per hour,” the company wrote in multiple emails reviewed by The Times.
Drivers have long suspected that Amazon uses their tips to hit promised wage targets, according to five former and current drivers who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisal.

Instagram was pulling the same crap
But workers organized and got them to stop. Imagine that!
We can’t save the world by playing by the rules, because the rules have to be changed.

okay, but how would
Amazon even know of any tips??
And, if a multi-$Billion company can't afford to pay drivers a Minimum of $25 /hr., well... how cheap can you get?? wtf

If you pay the tip with a credit card
the money first goes to the company. You're trusting them to give the tip to the delivery person. Yeah, right. That's another reason they want a "cashless society".
On to Biden since 1973
Ahh... see, I Rarely tip
with Plastic.
I always leave a cash tip on the table /counter.
Unless I have no cash. Again rare if I know I'm going to leave a tip.
So, I forget most people (especially under 40, brought up on Plastic) just add a tip on the card.
Figure if I leave cash, at least it gets in the Server's pocket. What happens after that...
So... "so, we noticed you got $40 in tips this week... consider it part of your hours... "
"and, thank you for all you do!"
gawd I love this country!!

Same thing with waitresses
And they have a lower minimum wage. Time to organize!
I always try to tip with cash. I'm not sure anyone but management gets those tips I leave on the credit card. Even if they are collated at the end of the day, how does the server know what I gave and who I am? A generous cash tip always brings a smile when you return.
I fully support a $15 minimum wage for restaurant workers.
I've seen lots of changes. What doesn't change is people. Same old hairless apes.
Is why I leave a cash
tip, too.
After a few times the Server matches the mug with the tip.
"hey, Wink, how you doin' today... "
Or at least a smile. Makes a difference.

Break up Bezos, grind up his bones, and sprinkle
