US Troops killed in Syria; Eric Prince Wants A Piece A That

We should end the illegal US troop presence and bombing of Syria immediately. We need leaders who will make this happen, not mercenaries who will deepen the quagmire.

I had missed the announcement related to withdrawal a few days ago:

Plan calls for US troop pullout from Syria to take months, bringing hundreds more troops in to assist
By: Robert Burns, The Associated Press

Interesting timing of Eric Prince interview:

Canova raises an interesting question:

Saudis, for example?

A while back Warren had called for withdrawal. Wonder how many will make that call now?

I believe this was done by our own government in order to keep us in Syria. Cynical? Indeed.

@Raggedy Ann want these wars to end. Others have a vested interest to keep those dollars rolling in.

A truth of the nuclear age/climate change: we can no longer have endless war and survive on this planet. Oh sh*t.

Blackwater, the company founded by Mr Prince in 1997, received hundreds of millions of dollars in US government contracts during the Iraq and Afghan wars, providing support for US forces and guarding officials and installations.

In 2017, The New York Times reported that Mr Prince had been tasked by then advisor to Mr Trump, Steve Bannon, to come up with an alternative to sending more troops to the country. Mr Prince had donated $250,000 to Mr Trump’s presidential campaign the year before.

His plan involved a force of 6,000 private contractors, made up of former US and European special forces, and training for Afghan troops, running to a cost of around $5bn a year. The plan reportedly found a receptive audience in Mr Trump, who has grown frustrated with the spiralling costs of the 17-year conflict.

I thought we'd get a false flag attack that could be blamed on ISIS which would prove that they are still active and therefore we couldn't possibly leave, but to kill our own troops to make the point never crossed my mind. But then I am not surprised by this. I just wish Americans would see it in this light, not some sacrifice by our brave troops trying to protect our freedoms which they never say how ISIS could take them away from us. Especially since Bush did most of them when he passed the Patriot Act.

@snoopydawg would be a miraculous withdrawal?

We are not alone in wanting that, but we are in the minority still.

is that ISIS is so upset that we are leaving that they decided to pull this bone headed move. This is what we were supposed to believe when Assad 'poisoned his citizens' just as Trump was pulling them out last time.

I can't believe how many people believed that Assad did that, but they did. And they are the same people who used to be against 'stupid wars.' They were also upset that Trump didn't do more damage when he lobbed those 59 bombs at Syria. And why 59? Why not 60 or 55?

@snoopydawg FWIW Pence says still pulling out.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6600081/Terrifying-video-shows-...

Pence first made the claim in a State Department speech and doubled down on it in an afternoon statement invoking President Donald Trump.

'President Trump and I condemn the terrorist attack in Syria that claimed American lives and our hearts are with the loved ones of the fallen,' Pence wrote. 'We honor their memory and we will never forget their service and sacrifice.'

He went on to say: 'We have crushed the ISIS caliphate and devastated its capabilities. As we begin to bring our troops home, the American people can be assured, for the sake of our soldiers, their families, and our nation, we will never allow the remnants of ISIS to reestablish their evil and murderous caliphate – not now, not ever.'

Just walking around your home town and boom. Those people would be alive if ... The biggest if is our country stayed within its borders and played nice with others. Parents, spouses and kids are grieving today because we don't.

According to this site there is one being planned in the next few days. This is being planned by the offshoot of AQ of course just like the last two times Trump has wanted to withdraw the troops.

It also states that lots of trucks loaded with troops has come into Syria from Iraq. What a cluster f'ck ehh?

Great plan, Hillary. Who cares if people die because of it right?
