Why are so many black women becoming Bernie Bros?
A new survey came out yesterday and it was reported by mainstream liberals in a familiar way:
New Survey Done With Women Of Color Finds Kamala Harris As Top Nominee In 2020 Election
In a new poll conducted by She The People, 264 women of color political organizers, donors, activists and party leaders overwhelming show that Sen. Kamala Harris is their front-runner in the 2020 election. Harris received 71.1% of the votes, while Sen. Beto O’Rourke came in second with 38.3%, former Vice-President Joe Biden had 25%, Sen. Cory Booker (24.2%), Sen. Elizabeth Warren (22.3%), Georgia Democrat Stacey Abrams (15.2%), and Sen. Bernie Sanders came in with an underwhelming 12.1%.
...It’s interesting to see Biden and Sanders on both lists, but many Black women will never forget how Biden threw Anita Hill under the bus or the fact that Sanders still doesn’t appeal to some Black women.
Clara Jeffery, editor-in-chief of Mother Jones, was even more direct with what she thought of Bernie.
Survey asked black women to say who's among their top three candidates:
Harris: 71.1%
Beto: 38.3%
Biden: 25%
Booker: 24.2%
Warren: 22.3%
Abrams: 15.2%
Bernie: 12.1%Bernie's never going to be the nominee unless he turns these numbers aroundhttps://t.co/7LLdFoGIIt

There was only one problem with this narrative: the facts.
To show that Bernie lacks support among black women, Clara Jeffrey circulated a poll in which 1) Less than half of respondents were black women 2) All respondents were self-selected operatives, politicians, and donors. Expect lots more of this junk https://t.co/i1iabOcvmU

Oh, right.
So in other words, a poll of the establishment favors Harris over Bernie.
Color me less than surprised.
Creating false narratives smacks of desperation, sets up yet another loss for Democrats.

So when called out on her lie, what does Jeffrey do? More spin.
I mean, as with any group, those who are the most engaged tend to be not only the reliable voters personally but super influential among their peers, so.

Judging by the replies, this response fooled no one.
The truth, as you probably know by now, is that Bernie scores big with women and minorities.
Interesting — out of all the Dem candidates polled by CNN, Bernie Sanders has the best favorability ratings among non-white voters https://t.co/O8yifu5EWb

However, establishment liberals will not be sidelined by facts and evidence anymore than Fox News, MSNBC and Trump. The narrative lives on.
Over the past week we saw Jonathan Martin of the New York Times (who happens to be white) claim that Sanders "has done little to broaden his political circle and has struggled to expand his appeal beyond his base of primarily white supporters." Meanwhile, Clara Jeffery, the editor-in-chief of Mother Jones (also white), recently presented not only Sanders' supporters but the left movement in general as white. Linking to a written exchange between two Splinter journalists about Sanders, she tweeted, "In which white lefties have a debate that somehow does not discuss the fact that Bernie has no real purchase among the POC base of the Democratic party. And that problem has not improved for him, if anything it seems larger…"
... On social media people who happily call Sanders #FakeJews, and defend Hillary Clinton's use of prison slave labor, continue to vilify Sanders as somehow "racist."

Hacktacular!!
As Mother Jones surely would have said.
Fits right in with Snoopy's post on Little Napoleon below.
Gëzuar!!

Somebody explain how the hell.....

Beto: 38.3%
Biden: 25%

It's a shame how Mother Jones has turned into an establishment rag. It disgraces the memory of the real Mother Jones.
I like all the snarky replies here, . . .
. . . but this actually makes sense when you look at the question:
"Top three" means the total could be 300% if everyone agreed (or if the pool of potential responses were narrower).
The poll is still stupid, disingenuous, and intentionally misleading.
Yeah
I caught that too. It's a worthless poll as are most.

Good point.
I'm in favor of accuracy even when I'm dealing with a bunch of disingenuous, deceitful crooks.

Apparently there is a rush to get
lies and distortions started early. A six to ten month buffer from the midterms would have been nice before starting on 2020.

Hey! If it's good enough for Nate Silver, it's good enough for

Again, the purpose of polls, especially this far out from November 3, 2020, is not to reflect public opinion, but to shape public opinion.

Reminds me of the CNN polls during the 2016 primaries where Hillary had these insanely high numbers. Problem was, when you looked at the demographics in the crosstabs of said polls, they never even bothered to poll the 18-35 year olds. Wonder why?
It'd be humorous if it weren't so infuriating.

As a friend posted not so very long ago:
That's going to get worse
as time goes on. Pretty soon they won't talk to anybody under 40. Then 45...
Actually, I'm surprised they talk to 35-45 year olds now; in my experience, they're a mixed lot with plenty of anti-establishment types mixed in. Even the 45-50 year olds seem to have a fair number of anti-establishment types included. I guess the percentages work out so that they can still assert a majority, or at least a plurality of establishment opinion in those demographics.

Harris...

Once more I bow
to your superiority in ferreting out the truth. This going to be reported as gospel all week, and cast in concrete every time someone mentions Bernie.
Yah yah, but who is Putin favoring?
As he controls our elections.
Good question. I asked our AI overlords
Who conveniently linger on the internet at various public forums in case any of us have any questions to ask of our ruling super intelligences.
Mitsuku: Hi, I'm the world's most humanlike conversational AI.
Mitsuku: Hello Mitsuku
Mitsuku: Hi there. How are you?
Me: I'm fine. I was wondering who you think Putin favors in the 2020 elections?
Mitsuku: Glad to hear it. What's new?
Mitsuku: I could tell you but then I would have to kill you.
Me: So then.... does that make YOU a Putin-bot too?
Mitsuku: Then what? What are you expecting? I don't know whether or not I am minus. I am a machine.
As far as I'm concerned, there you have incontrovertible proof that bots are in cahoots with Putin. Notice the subtle deflection at the end... turning the question towards the obvious (machine) rather than what I was really trying to ask.
