The Long Night Of Trump Appointments: Medicaid Predator To Be Hired?
Early warning predator alert: woman with experience at state level for sabotaging Medicaid is reportedly coming to the Trump Admin.
gjohnsit told us recently in Republicans come for Medicaid and Food Stamps what an absolute horror story the zombie attacks on poor people in this country is.
So who better to lead the expansion of this catastrophe but another Trump appointee?

She is about as terrible of a person as one can be. A perfect fit for the Trump admin. She got run out of Maine after a failed Gubernatorial bid. DC can have her.

Mary Mayhew "destroyed Medicaid in Maine now she will destroy it in the whole country."
by
Jessica Corbett, staff writer
Provoking immediate warnings about what is now in store for the most vulnerable people in the United States, President Donald Trump on Monday reportedly tapped Maine's former health commissioner Mary Mayhew—who was instrumental in Republican Gov. Paul LePage's efforts to block Medicaid expansion in the state—to run the program at the federal level."Make no mistake, she was hired for her cruelty with the express purpose to dismember Medicaid."
—Diane Russell, Maine politicianCritics such as Zak Ringelstein, a Democratic U.S. Senate candidate from Maine, rapidly denounced her appointment as "horrifying."
People for Bernie co-founder Winnie Wong warned, "She's coming for Medicaid."
"This is horrible news," responded Maine-based Dr. Cathleen London. "She destroyed Medicaid in Maine now she will destroy it in the whole country."
I am watching this closely because my mother's long technical nursing facility stay, which would have bankrupted her 5 children, is covered by Medicaid.

Heh. Healthcare defined.

I could not expect anything less
from Herr Drumpf. The nasty GOP that's been in charge in the recent decade, has had plenty of people try their dirty tricks at the state level. Now, Herr Drumpf is tapping those folks to undo everything meaningful. It's part of the plan - our overlords desire to vanquish us from the planet (see recent essay, "I, for one, do not Welcome our new AI Overlords" for reference.
Cut any and all healthcare for the masses. We, the people, are expendable.

Agree wholeheartedly, RA!
I have sneaking suspicion that corpaDems have not fought for Medicaid as much as needed because not a priority for their donor class. Maybe the New Progressives will be held to years working for healthcare for all.

We can blame the Koch brothers and the
Heritage foundation for the states that didn't expand Medicaid. I wish there was a way that it could have been mandatory for the years that the government was paying for the whole amount. This would have made it much harder for states to end it after they started paying some percentage of it.
But where the blame really lies is with Obama and the democrats for not passing single payer when they had the chance to. And they did have the votes to pass whatever they wanted because it only took 51 votes to pass it because they used reconciliation. If they had then McConnell wouldn't have the chance to do this. Thousands of people wouldn't be dying every year because they didn't have health insurance. But then that might be part of the plan. Cutting Medicaid hurts the poor, the elderly and the disabled. The people who aren't productive and are using the resources that the sociopaths in charge believe are theirs. At one time this would sound crazy. Not anymore.

I know it's cruel, but BRING IT ON B'RER WOLF!
The only way we're ever going to convince America to give up worshiping the capitalist predators and go to single payer is to hit them over the head with exactly how evil the "system" really is. Hillarycare failed because it was supposed to. Obamacare was nothing but pretending to be "affordable health care", and some people are still fooled by it. We need health care now, and the only way we are going to get it in 2020 is to give Bernie a few million people clogging ERs on camera, (and those ERs closing their doors because their owners can't make enough money off of poor sick people) otherwise the voting class will go to sleep.
On to Biden since 1973
Hey d1304, yeah, if my mother and our family was not
I never supported ACA, but I didn't fight against Medicaid expansion.
I have always been a single payer advocate, my sig line at TOP for years reflected that.
FWIW

Disclaimer:
I am an extremely hypertensive diabetic (now with parkinson's) I am only alive today because CA accepted the Medicaid expansion. So it is indeed "cruel" for me to suggest that it is necessary for others to take that risk - that hit.
BTW, "doh" stands for duke of hell, because it would not be the first time that I have profited, or taken advantage, or luckily avoided taking hits, and I demand that I not be allowed to forget it.

I have read and reccd your comments at TOP over the years and here as well. Thanks for sharing something about yourself. You are appreciated.

Umm, no
I understand your point, but there are too many people dependent on not only Medicaid, but the other safety net programs. I'm one.
There has to be a line that if congress crosses will be what gets people to stop sitting in the warming pot of water while they keep turning up the heat.
ETA - I didn't see your other comment on this before I wrote it. Sorry to hear that you too are reliant on something that can be taken away because of people's disdain and cruelty. I've never understood why any person could do what they do to others just because they want to keep their position and the power that comes with it.
One of the republicans who voted against the ACA now has a grandchild that has a serious medical condition and has no health insurance. People sure wake up fast to the consequences of their votes when they find themselves in the position that they want others to be in.

What sticks in my head lately
is how many Repugnant voters who are currently living on SS have voted for just this, for decades. Nice middle class people who think they are the "good Americans" who want for very little somehow get their cruelty on full bore and vote away any crumbs for anyone who needs help - willfully ignoring that it just might be their very own sorry ass that might need that help one day! My own father bitched endlessly about paying taxes yet died on MediCal for God's sake.
How fucking cruel and ignorant are these people? And to bring it right back to those who worship Capitalism and the market, how in hell is cutting these programs not going to further decimate an already shitty economy? I asked my finance guy that one day, couldn't help it, and OF COURSE I heard no real response on that, this being the same guy who thinks I'm batshit crazy to think a recession or worse is coming and who consistently has advised me to keep my money in the stock market and I'm quite sure has indeed voted Repugnant all his life. These people never have an answer to that, nor do they care. So many sitting in their nice houses and screaming to high heaven about poor people... I think we know just who in this country should be assassinated, at least I have some very personal preferences on just who should go. Sadly, there isn't enough ammunition in the world to purge this country of the willfully ignorant and proudly cruel.
