Insurance Companies Are So Afraid Trump 'Wrote' An OP-ED
Imagine that, Mr. Trump wrote an op-ed. Nope. Can't imagine it.
Trump's USA Today op-ed on Medicare is full of lies — but does anyone really believe he wrote it himself? https://t.co/Rxrjw5UAuY (column by @hiltzikm)

Insurance Companies Are So Afraid Trump 'Wrote' An OP-ED
They, along with big pharma, big hospital, have been spending huge amounts to stop Medicare for All.
NEW REPORT: Organizations from health care-related industries spent $660 million on at least 3,335 lobbyists in 2017.
More than 75 percent of the lobbyists were working on behalf of big pharma, insurance and hospital industries. https://t.co/TR1nktoZ1H

And what do they have to show for it? Heh.
Even majority Republicans in one poll are supporting Medicare for All.
We’ve reached a turning point in our politics. 85% of Democrats and 52% of Republicans support Medicare for All.
Now it’s time for action. A new Medicare for All bill needs Rep. Kennedy’s backing to get onto the floor for a vote. @RepJoeKennedy, can we count on your support? pic.twitter.com/4dTXoUZO9D

Comments
Just found out there was a cancellation so going for annual
eye exam this afternoon. Will check back for comments later.
EXPENSIVE!
Wouldn't go but my mother had shots in her eye for macular degneration so want to stay on top of things.
Never have had dental or vision insurance. Would love to be covered!
A truth of the nuclear age/climate change: we can no longer have endless war and survive on this planet. Oh sh*t.
I'd like to hear how your mother is doing with
managing the disorder. I left the field just as this treatment was being studied. Eye diseases are covered under medical insurance.
I'm guessing which way they will vote. Trump is the best puppet money can buy and it didn't come from Russia.
Scientists are concerned that conspiracy theories may die out if they keep coming true at the current alarming rate.
She took the shots for a year or so and things improved.

Not a lie - a threat.
If mainstream politicians ever do a MFA plan it is sure to provide as little as possible. It will be designed to fail, made to be hated, and mandate a "Medicare advantage plan" that will cost more than any previous health insurance policy while also providing less.
On to Biden since 1973
Thank you for this essay, DO! Between
tracking the carnage in the path of Michael (including potentially our property), I'll be back to comment on several of the articles that you've linked to. The idea that DT wrote the Op-Ed--or, does anything beyond 'Tweeting' and watching 'Fox and Friends'--is laughable, as Michael Hiltzik stated.
I've found '7' different MFA proposals in a quick search this afternoon, and will post their titles/descriptions so that folks can check them out (on their own, if they'd care to). Unfortunately, due to 'Michael', won' t have time this evening to provide a great deal of detail.
(We're in total dread of what the next several days may bring, since our property has massive numbers of huge pine trees, which could be uprooted/snapped. Fingers crossed!)
Later . . .

Most welcome! Will look forward to your post.

I did, DO--if you mean Ives' piece. Already
commented at EB. Of course, I come at it from the perspective of looking at MA from the outside (as you know). Guess with ACOs nipping at our feet (those of us in Traditional/FFS Medicare, that is)--we'll all be in the same boat, eventually.
Know that you and JB have a better than usual MA plan, in several aspects (thought your RX plan was especially good). Hope it's working out well for both of you. Don't know, but, I suspect that what your teacher's union is sponsoring for you Guys, is much better than what folks could get buying into 'individual' MA plans.
Will drop back in a few, and leave the names/titles of the MFA proposals I mentioned. Hopefully, some of you Guys may have run across some info on them, and can fill in a few blanks. I can only remember bits and pieces, so, would rather wait until I have time to provide links, to say much about them (for fear of mixing them up).

Biggest problem is we each have $500 deductible.
out of pocket deductible.

Trump can't read, write, or tell the truth.
I have my absentee ballot open on my table. I've pretty well decided how I'm going to vote. I just wish it mattered.

Yeah, a decided lack of enthusiasm.
Still, some are out there working ....

Bad news, good news, and next step from dems
The bad news is that even horrid propaganda works. The good news is that the ideological battle over health care policy is going the way of Medicare for all such that Trump has to engage his base to generate opposition to Medicare for All. Tapper propaganda at CNN and the lackeys at Fox ain't working.
So what will corporate dems with their anti-Medicare for All leader Hillary Clinton do? I wonder if they will go on this "I am fighting for Obamacare" bullshit as a way of not supporting MfA.
Hi, Mr W! I could be wrong, but I'm
'guessing' that pre-midterms, even the most conservative/corporatist of Dem lawmakers will (at least) feign support for MFA. I say that because even TN US Rep Jim Cooper--Greater Nashville, etc.--claims to support MFA.
Couldn't be more of a joke, since he's a member of the New Dem, Blue Dog, and No Labels Coalitions.
Tenure
Cooper is a member of the Blue Dog Coalition[1] and the New Democrat Coalition[25] and generally has a moderate voting record.
Cooper voted for the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act in March 2010.[31] In 2009 the ThinkProgress website reported that a Daily Kos poll "found that 60 percent of his constituents disapprove of his handling of the health care issue."[32]
In July 2011, Cooper was one of five Democrats to vote for the Cut, Cap, and Balance Act.[33]
In January 2013, Cooper was the only Democrat in the House to vote against an emergency bill to provide disaster and recovery funds in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.[38]
Whew!

Faking it seems the way it will go.
Okay--finally cobbled together a MFA list--
sort of a rush job, so, can't guarantee that there aren't more MFA plans. But, for starters,
1) [Universal] Medicare-for-all bill from Sen. Bernie Sanders
2) A Medicare buy-in bill from Sens. Tim Kaine and Michael Bennet - aka Medicare 'X'
3) A Medicaid buy-in bill from Sen. Brian Schatz*
*My bad--subtract this proposal from MFA buy-in plan list; clearly, a Medicaid buy-in plan.
4) A Medicare “extra”-for-all proposal from the Center for American Progress, an influential liberal think tank that has strong ties to Clinton-land
5) This new Medicare buy-in bill from Sens. Murphy and Merkley - aka Medicare 'E'.
Below's a link to the five related plans, above.
Democrats now have 5 competing plans to expand government health care
6) Medicare at 55 Act
7) Medicare Buy-In and Health Care Stabilization Act
8) HR 676 - Expanded & Improved Medicare For All Act (John Conyers, Jr)
Hopefully, once everything normalizes--maybe by next week--I'll try to put a little more meat on the bones, as they say.
Have a good one!
