The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) has grown from 7,000 members to 50,000 since President Trump was elected.
Last November, elected DSA members went from 20 to 35.

That was nothing compared to 2018.
At least 46 Democratic socialist candidates and two DSA-backed ballot measures have won their primaries in 2018.

Of those, 14 were endorsed by the national DSA chapter (but the other were endorsed by their local chapter.)
Four of their candidates are running for U.S. House; the rest are running for state-level office, like state House, state Senate, and city council.

For people on the right, this is absolutely terrifying.
The Commie/Fascist/Feminist/Atheist/ScaryWord people are coming for your money, your freedoms, your guns, your pets, even your children. If we don't freak out and panic right now, it'll be too late, and the Pol Pot will have won.
Let me give you some examples.

The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) claims to be “the largest socialist organization in the United States,” and, despite preceding its socialism with “democracy,” it believes in total government control of both the economy and society.

As a group, the DSA aspires to overthrow the socioeconomic foundations of the United States. The Marxist DSA may be considered a small-c communist group. Its members seek the abolition, not the mere tempering or regulation, of capitalism.

The United States’ largest Marxist organization, Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), is being trained—and guided—by an extremely well-funded network of “former” East German communists. Many of these German communists were documented informants for the notorious former East German intelligence service: the Stasi.
...DSA takes pains to portray itself as open, “democratic,” and completely opposed to the totalitarian socialism of the former Eastern Bloc. DSA claims to be all about Sweden and Norway; not about Bulgaria, Cuba or the former Soviet Union. The reality is completely different.

Radio host Michael Knowles said on "Fox & Friends" that Democratic Socialists are urging Socialists to become teachers because they can't win a "fair fight."

A pamphlet by the Young Democratic Socialists of America (YDSA), in conjunction with the Democratic Socialist Labor Commission, outlines a push for socialists to "take jobs as teachers" as a way to move teachers unions "in a more militant and democratic direction."

Knowles said Saturday that he believes Democratic Socialists are targeting the teaching industry and as a result, students, because they can't win against adults.

"They can't win in the battle of ideas," he said.

He said that instead, Democratic Socialists are trying to cut off any thought of freedom by students and replace it with socialist ideology.

Under capitalism, the mere existence of buyers reliably gives rise to suppliers. Relying instead on democratic decisions would pose a big risk for Muslims. And Sikhs. And Hindus. And Jews. And maybe even Catholics.

Right now, under capitalism, vegetarians and vegans have more options every year. But there aren’t very many of them. Five percent of Americans are vegetarians. Three percent are vegans. Would “the workers” find a societal need to produce vegan meat or milk substitutes? No one knows the answer.

As insurgent hard-Left socialists become the face and the “future” of the Democratic Party, their connections to anti-Semitic organizations and attitudes are becoming more apparent.

The latest democratic socialist candidate to have ties to anti-Semitic groups is Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, the Democratic candidate for governor in Florida. Gillum is “pleased and proud” to be endorsed by groups that support the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement.

How 57,000 Socialists and Communists Are Planning to Take Over the Democratic Party
...Broadly speaking, there are two lefts in America. One side is the anti-Democratic Party left—which consists of the Revolutionary Communist Party, Socialist Alternative, Socialist Party USA, Party for Socialism and Liberation, Party of Communists USA, and so on. On the other side are the groups willing to work inside the Democratic Party—that is, those organizations signing on to the strategy outlined above.

These organizations are not to be underestimated. Separately, all these groups are dangerous. Together, they spell potential disaster.

Most of the new DSA comrades genuinely believe they are working for a better America. These indoctrinated souls have no idea that by joining DSA, they have become part of the international communist movement.

DSA claims to be working for an America that looks more like Scandinavia—yet it harbors many members loyal to Cuba, China, and even the old Eastern Bloc.

In fact, the rapidly growing Marxist organization has many serious communists in leadership positions—including convicted East German spy Kurt Stand, who was a long-time DSA national leader even before he was forced to serve a prison sentence for his role in passing U.S. secrets to East Germany’s Stasi secret police.

And this is an abbreviated list. I could go on and on.
If someone identifies on the left, that means that they are a hardened Stalinist. They often aren't aware that they want a totalitarian regime straight out of Orwell's 1984, but deep down they are all alike.
Government social programs that don't involve bombing third-world nations or throwing people in prison, like universal health care, all lead directly to communism. It's impossible to help poor people, because helping poor people will inevitably lead to totalitarian government.
Anyone who calls themselves a socialist is ignorant of history and doesn't know what socialism is. Only people on the right-wing get to define what socialism is and what history we can consider. For instance:

The policy statement of the Democratic Socialists of America acknowledges the value of markets and eschews government ownership of large, nationalized enterprises. Instead, it favors reforms that turn control of corporations over to workers and communities.

That betrays an ignorance of the role of investment capital in making markets work. But it’s not really socialism in a way that is markedly distinct from liberalism. If the term “socialism” is to have any real meaning, it has to include government dictating the allocation of resources and owning and operating monopolistic corporations in major industrial sectors.

I'm guessing that this guy has never heard of a co-op. He's also never opened a dictionary and read the definition of socialism.
But it's the DSA that is "ignorant".
