Ayanna Pressley is a phony progressive

Jimmy Dore killed it on this one.
So I did a quick search and found this.
Pressley has long been a Democratic star in the making who's been closely watched since her 2015 speech at an EMILY's List event headlined by Hillary Clinton -- but, with no members of Congress retiring, had no path to the national stage.
AOC she is not.

Comments
Interestingly, like AOC
she also went to Boston University.
Must be the new 'progressive' hotbed.
Gëzuar!!
from a reasonably stable genius.
It appears
Obviously,
A spontaneous, proletarian uprising is in the making.
Gëzuar!!
from a reasonably stable genius.
A revolution hatched in the Hamptons, and
mapped out on Martha’s Vineyard!
Spontaneously.
The times call for more radical politics
...from the Democratic Party.
They might get some traction in 2018 if the Party Leaders keep a low profile and push the candidates from behind. But once they show their faces or have a convention, it's going to get ugly. Can you imagine Democratic Debates from their old Center Right incremental position? The only thing I can think of that could take out Trump is if they go BOLD radical humanist and demand a fair deal for all families. End the homeless camps, the hungry children, the medical bankruptcies, and the crippling debt that denies liberty to ordinary Americans just starting out in life. Demand that the economy work for all citizens.
Maybe you’ve forgotten what happened with
Hopey-Changey? He went all’radical’. He was lying through his teeth.
Screw the Dims. They can’t be trusted.
And neither can old sheepdogs.
I'm tired of this back-slapping "Isn't humanity neat?" bullshit. We're a virus with shoes, okay? That's all we are. - Bill Hicks
Politics is the entertainment branch of industry. - Frank Zappa
AOC is also a phony.

Modern education is little more than toeing the line for the capitalist pigs.
Guerrilla Liberalism won't liberate the US or the world from the iron fist of capital.
This guy turned me off
when he bad mouthed OWS.
Occupy Wall Street did nothing.
Modern education is little more than toeing the line for the capitalist pigs.
Guerrilla Liberalism won't liberate the US or the world from the iron fist of capital.
People who slam popular movements
because they don't succeed have very, very different values than I do.
Judging movements based solely on winning leads to authoritarianism.
He's a Bolshevik loon.
I made the mistake of clicking one of his videos and now they show up in my YouTube feed. Yuck.
We wanted decent healthcare, a living wage and free college.
The Democrats gave us Biden and war instead.
And ineffectual liberal idiots are actually worse.
At best, candidates like AOC and Andrew Gillum are controlled opposition. They will capitulate to the Capitalist Party or they will be ground up by it. Either way, they still win.
Modern education is little more than toeing the line for the capitalist pigs.

Yeah right ...
And Stalin got a bad rap.
We wanted decent healthcare, a living wage and free college.
The Democrats gave us Biden and war instead.
Without those bolsheviks you whine about....

Thanks for the history lesson.

I don't think you give nearly enough credit
to the domestic labor movement.
There was a whole lot of struggle and sacrifice in this country.
I'm not saying the labor movement in the US doesn't
Ineffectual liberal protest like the White Women's March (Yes, I'm well aware Kshama Sawant led a segment of the march, but she was ignored in favor of pink imperialists like Steinem and Wasserman Shill. They may as well have had boardroom feminist Christina Hoff Sommers with them, too.) or Occupy Wall Street won't get the pigs to relent in any way, shape, form or fashion. And if people are going to strike, they need to do it longer than a damn week. Otherwise, they're just begging for bigger crumbs.
Modern education is little more than toeing the line for the capitalist pigs.

Just another liar just like Barack Obama.
No @$%@% way I'm voting for blue.

Good Post, thank you
It's true that Pressley is worth worrying about. Between the 2016 "mansplainng" bid and her present-day hair style, Pressley is clearly and emphatically running on identity politics. (Vote for me because I'm a black person! You really do want me in office because I'm a woman!) Experience teaches that identity politics--i.e., Obama--works like Lucy holding the football for Linus. The discussion can't remain there--thinking has to move in a more universalist direction. Will Pressley be on board? I share Jimmy Dore's conclusion!
I remember the 2008 primary race between Obama and HRC, watching with astonishment as the Ted Kennedy faction of the dem party actually took over the race and sidelined the Clinton wing. That gave us Obama, already groomed at Harvard, seen and selected by the Kennedy machine. Kennedy liberalism won out over Clinton liberalism in a last ditch power play within the party. By today the "party" is "unified" (ha!), meaning that the Clintons and the Kennedys have learned to play ball together.
Pressley is deeply rooted in that old, rotten liberalism, which has a record of selling out all the people in our society--regardless of race or gender--whose livelihoods, needs, safety, education, and so on are not being met. When I look at the way the wealthy party bosses of both political parties use a black face to betray black people the steam starts pouring out of my ears.
The Brown University thingy also causes for worry. IIRC Brown University was home to Martha Nussbaum, celebrity academic, for many years. Nussbaum is/was an NGO-type, who went around the globe spreading identity-based American-style liberalism, playing out the Clinton version of "nation building". Politics out of Brown U. are not impressive, IMO.
