Julian Assange in imminent danger of being arrested?

Conspiracy emerges to push Julian Assange into British and US hands

Julian Assange, the WikiLeaks founder who provided the world’s people with the truth about US war crimes in the Middle East and many of Washington’s coups and regime-change intrigues around the globe, is in escalating danger.
Moves are afoot to force Assange out of Ecuador’s London embassy, where he sought political asylum close to six years ago and has been forced to live as an effective prisoner. If he is taken into custody by British authorities, he faces being handed over to the US government, which has long sought to place him on trial on espionage charges that potentially carry the death sentence.

Manning was charged under the espionage act and he was not allowed to have anything but a show trial. The truth is not allowed to be entered into evidence under the espionage act.

Ecuador’s government gave Assange political asylum in June 2012, when his legal appeals ran out against extradition to Sweden to answer questions over fabricated allegations of sexual assault, and likely rendition to the United States. Swedish authorities finally dropped their trumped-up investigation in May 2017, but Prime Minister Theresa May’s British government still refused to cancel an arrest warrant against him, nominally for skipping bail when he sought asylum.
Rafael Correa, Moreno’s predecessor, recently told journalists in Madrid that Assange’s “days were numbered” because Moreno, his former protégé, would “throw him out of the embassy at the first pressure from the United States.”

Why has Ecuador decided now to turn Assange over to the USA? Because he exposed their war crimes and other crimes that this country takes great pains to hide from us. And if Ecuador's new president Moreno doesn't want to see himself regime changed then he better play ball and do what we damn well tell him to do! That's why.

Since his election, Moreno has carried out a sharp turn to the right, with tax cuts for big business, cuts in social spending and attempts to reduce Ecuador’s dependence on loans and investment from China in favour of closer relations with US imperialism. {yeah, I'm sure Moreno is doing this to gain favor with this country. He's doing it to save himself, not his country or Assange. sd }

Ecuador’s government cut off Assange’s communications just one day after it welcomed a delegation from the US Southern Command (Southcom), the Pentagon’s arm in Latin America and the Caribbean, headed by General Joseph DiSalvo. Southcom said discussions were held to strengthen “security cooperation.”
There is no doubt that the US intelligence apparatus and political establishment are driving the conspiracy against Assange. Last year, WikiLeaks began publishing more incriminating files about the CIA’s global operations. US Attorney General Jeff Sessions said putting Assange on trial for espionage was a “priority.” CIA director Mike Pompeo, now secretary of state, declared that WikiLeaks was a “non-state hostile intelligence service.”

The plot against Assange is bound up with an intensifying campaign by the American government and its allies to impose far-reaching Internet censorship and suppress freedom of speech and broader democratic rights. Unsubstantiated allegations of “fake news” and “Russian meddling” are being used by Google, Facebook and other conglomerates to restrict access to websites—including WikiLeaks and the World Socialist Web Site—that provide critical commentary and exposures of the capitalist class and its agencies.

There's more to the story in the link and I hope that you will read it. I'm so disgusted with how people's lives mean nothing to those in power in this country who could give a rat's ass if people live or die as long as there is money to be made.

Good luck, Julian. Stay safe and know that there are many of us pulling for you and hoping that one day your long abhorrent nightmare is over and you can be reunited with your family again. Thank you for your commitment to the truth!

I've been wondering what was going on. They kill journalists in Mexico, we indict and imprison them. Especially those who tell the truth.

Ecuador's swing to the right explains a great deal. Thanks again.

edit to add...this interview with Guillaume Long, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ecuador under former President Rafael Correa. Most recently, he was Ecuador’s Ambassador to the UN in Geneva under current President Lenín Moreno but resigned last January because of political differences with the Moreno administration.

I am scared to death for Julian. I can't imagine how scared he is. I can't believe we do this to people. But I know, we have been doing it a long time, to lots of people. Anyone that won't do what TPTB want them to, or any that expose their evilness. Julian is a true hero, just like Snowden, Ray McGovern, Jack Kiriakou (sp.?), and many like them. The media silence speaks volumes, and none of it is good. It is a horrible situation, which now appears as though it is not going to end well. We, the US, and UK primarily are openly torturing this person publicly, and the media is quiet except for hit/smear pieces. It is among the most disgusting things I have seen in my life.

@dystopian I am scared too, and I want to do something, but I have no fucking clue what I can do.

Will I be reduced to prayer?

on him. While he was able to provide truth, he created income for the the MSM, so they actually gave him some attention.

Of course, they gave far MORE to his critics, because what's the point of giving the person who actually is DOING SOMETHING money, right?

Now that that particular revenue scream has dried up, they'll gleefully remain silent...

Until the show trial of course.

@detroitmechworks

the media haven’t been silent about him, but have been attack dogs against him! in my coverage from two days ago i’d mentioned several hits from the guardian via former UK ambassador craig murray:

‘The Guardian Rejoices in the Silencing of Assange’ 16 May, 2018, craigmurray.org
“The Guardian has today published a whole series of attack piece articles on Julian Assange which plainly exult in the fact he has now been silenced by the cutting of his communication with the outside world. They also include outright lies such as this one by Dan Collyns', etc.

Now I was unable to find that quote in either of these pieces by the same trio yesterday; the worst first: ‘Revealed: Ecuador spent millions on spy operation for Julian Assange ; Exclusive: Files show at least $5m went on activities including spying on guests at London embassy’, Dan Collyns, Stephanie Kirchgaessner and Luke Harding
‘How Julian Assange became an unwelcome guest in Ecuador’s embassy; He has been in the Knightsbridge building for six years, but his departure looks ever more likely’ by Luke Harding, Stephanie Kirchgaessner and Dan Collyns, but maybe either or both have been edited by now, etc.

later: ‘How fine it is that Mike Head at wsws.org has unveiled the ‘Conspiracy emerges to push Julian Assange into British and US hands’, 16 May 2018 in greater detail, and he brings in a hit job by a now-Guardian bad-actor James Ball (here and here at the minimum) as well. The history you already know, so I’ll jump to:’, etc.

but if you include the three pieces of trashing him by the Intercept (one here), the daily beast, and the atlantic...at a bare minimum, yes, the media is indeed speaking of him, but in the worst ways imaginable. i dunno if i brought those trash pieces here, but i may well have.

i’d also included a media lens 2014 exposé of how the guardian ownership had changed from the scott trust to ‘the guardian media group’ full of “elite, well-connected people from the worlds of banking, insurance, advertising, multinational consumer goods companies, telecommunications, information technology giants, venture investment firms, media, marketing services, the World Economic Forum, and other sectors of big business, finance and industry”.

and yes, they're longish, and too stuffed w/ facts for some, but for me, a subject worth knowing inside-out. here's a page of wikileaks published leaks over the years; mind-boggling and helpful, you scroll and keep scrolling down...

if they put him in Gitmo, who will whistleblowers leak to? not the former members of the 'freedom of the press foundation' who cut wikileaks off from channeling funds to WL as they were soo busy creating 'secure drop' serving the 'not' side of prop or not list. or the Intercept, who burned reality winner.

ack, sorry for the rant, and likely typos galore; it all just pisses me purple, and i'm terrified for julian's life.

represented a lone front against a powerful enemy whose cancerous soul infects everything they touch.

What a grotesque twist of reality that these coiled vipers are hunting down the person they see as an arrogant usurper of their impunity to kill anyone who stands in their way.

I suspect the tipping point was when Julian Assange published the DNC emails and laid bare the stinking pile of feces that our electoral process has become. Akin to touching the third rail, I fear it is what ultimately drove those in power to expend such resources in the last year to castrate Assange's organization.

I fear for Julian Assange's well being and am sickened to see EVIL "win" yet again.

Make a martyr of someone, and they and their cause will never be forgotten. Let them go into a life of quiet obscurity, and they'll be forgotten pretty fast. since Julian Assange has been placed in solitary confinement by the Ecuadorian government at the behest of the United States. He is not allowed any contact with the outside world except with his lawyer. I believe this is in violation of international law against cruel and unusual punishment. Ellizabeth Lea Vos, the editor of Disobedient Media, has been leading the charge to free Assange. Recently, Jamarl Thomas interviewed her about Julian Assange.

The US establishment and its lap dog governments throughout the world are terrified of Assange. Remember, Hillary Clinton wanted to drone him. All for spreading the truth.

@gulfgal98 Their argument against cruel and unusual punishment would simply be, "Hey, he's free to walk out the door whenever he wants..."

And they'd be right.

Cables Show US Seeks Assange 488

prakslash writes
"The Sydney Morning Herald reports that diplomatic cables they obtained show the U.S. investigation into possible criminal conduct by Julian Assange has been ongoing for more than a year, despite denials by the U.S. State Department and the Australian Foreign Minister. Further, the Australian diplomats expect that the U.S. will seek to extradite Assange to the U.S. on charges including espionage and conspiracy relating to the release of classified information by WikiLeaks." ...

Anyone who is surprised by this (or who thinks that Sweden is not a part of it) is simply not paying attention.

But, but ... the Swedish prosecutor has gone on record saying specifically that Sweden won't extradite Assange for torture or the death penalty.

Seriously, though, I hear Julian is going to be out front on Sunday. It would be quite an art project if two hundred other young clean-shaven thin white men with white wigs, white button-down shirts, gray wool pants, black dress shoes and socks, and Guy Fawkes masks all swarmed him and then got into passing cars.

That should have been done right after the election...

Back to ‘normal’? Ecuador withdraws Assange’s extra security at London embassy
Published time: 18 May, 2018 04:43
Edited time: 18 May, 2018 10:07

The president of Ecuador has ordered the withdrawal of enhanced security from the country’s London embassy, which was assigned to protect Julian Assange, who remains holed up there to avoid possible deportation to the US.

The Ecuadorian government “will maintain normal security similar to the level of security at all other Ecuadorean embassies in the rest of the world,” Lenin Moreno, national secretary of communication, said in a statement. He added that “additional security at the Ecuadorian embassy” in London will be withdrawn immediately. ...

Where's 'our line too dear to cross'? Anywhere on this planet?

The really horrible thing is that one of the better outcomes we can hope for is that they drone him and he dies instantly because The Psychopaths That Be are psychopaths and they know that nobody has the guts to apply law to stop them, no matter what they do, no matter how lawless and unconscionable their actions become as they worsen because nobody ever stops them and makes them answerable... poor bugger's alone in there waiting for it, unless whatever 'it' is has already happened and we just haven't heard yet.

Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.

A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.
