The Stakes Are Rising

Lost amidst all the hoopla surrounding the false flag chemical attack in Douma, Syria, is the little tidbit that Syrian air defenses are increasingly effective.

Interfax cited the Russian Defence Ministry as saying the Israeli warplanes had carried out the strikes from Lebanese air space, and that Syrian air defence systems had shot down five of eight missiles fired.

Source: Syria and Russia accuse Israel of missile strike

A 63% shoot down rate is pretty good considering that Syria doesn't have any of Russia's newest and best systems in place yet, instead relying mainly on older SA-75 and S-125 launchers, a few dozen S-200 systems, and a handful of S-300 systems. If Russia decides to equip Syria with their newer S-400 missile systems, it's likely that no Israeli or US missiles would get through.

Another place where stakes are rising (and of course receiving little or no US MSM attention) is China. In a rare move, the usually reticent Chinese government has issued a warning against the unseemly rush to military action by the US and it's lapdogs France and Britain.

China on Tuesday warned against military action in Syria after US president Donald Trump vowed to respond "forcefully" to the latest alleged chemical atrocity in the country's bloody civil war.

At a regular press briefing in Beijing on Tuesday, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said his country was "opposed to the wanton use of force or threat of force". Before a "comprehensive, impartial and objective investigation" had been conducted into the incident, no party should "prejudge the results and come to conclusions randomly," he said.

Oh, snap! Russia is threatening to play hardball (and can jam US drones, as gjohnsit recently noted), China is taking sides, and Syrian capabilities are growing. What will the rabid US warmongers do next? Stay tuned, folks. Trump needs a distraction from the Mueller investigation, and good ol' "rally round the flag as I bomb these suckas" is a tried and true method for doing just that.

"investigation." How horrible it is that his needing a diversion from a flat out fake "investigation" will bring about WWIII. While we all out here know that whole Mueller thing is utter bullshit, the rubes don't yet so diversion is needed. Not to mention the diversion needed to let our owners finish off the gutting of the US Treasury. USA, USA, USA!!!

that we weren't at war. I guess that we and our allies don't have their ships in the area yet, but they are on their way.

Mueller is going after Trump's $150,000 Ukraine campaign donation to his foundation while Hillary gets a pass for her millions upon millions that she got during her time as SOS.

There's "avalanche of evidence" showing how she used her position to make a shit load of money. Just more effing hypocrisy.

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

Of course Fox is convinced of Hillz' corruption. #Ugh

Would it make a difference if the guy had posted his article on CNN? It should be the contents in an article, not where it's posted.

I had already known about a lot of the information in his article, but he added some that I wasn't aware of.

. . . . of Hillary's corruption that comes from places OTHER than FOX News.

The question is, "Why don't you?"

You're a little late to the C99 party perhaps??

Of course Hillz is corrupt. I used pre-sellout markos' quote about Hillz' many flaws as my sigline during the Primary Wars of 2015, thanks.

Since we all know, and there are plenty of sources, why not use them instead of Fox? This isn't that hard.

What a strange world when Liberals embrace the FBI and demand war "because Trump" and anti-Hill bloggers use Fox "because Hillary."

Partisan team-first emotions lead to irrational decisions and choices.

A return of the "Russian Electronic Warfare" device that overpowered and crippled the USS Donald Cook's electronics and control systems? Who could blame a "peacemaking" country's efforts to prevent a needless killing exercise by jamming out the whole goddamn thing?

and Russia is not happy about it. They have a naval base there and ..

To be sure, Russia is concerned, and seemingly angry, that another showdown may be imminent. According to Pravda, the Chairman of the State Duma Defence Committee Vladimir Shamanov said that the United States did not notify Russia of the approach of the group of US warships to the Russian naval base in Tartus.

Hoo-boy, looks like things are heating up. Damn.
Imagine Russian ships off the coast of Norfolk. I'm sure we'd have something to say about that.

From the latest reports looks like bunches of cruise missiles will be shot off by the Brits and French. No bombers going into Syrian airspace. Supposedly, the Russians downed through electronic means a bunch of missiles fired last year for fake chemical attack.

I remember at the beginning of the Iraq invasion that Russia was asked not to give the Iraqis GPS disruptors which could have thrown cruise missiles off course.

for another cruise missile then. A fleet carrier that has no aircraft. A helicopter carrier too slow to keep up with a battle group. No anti-submarine patrol aircraft. Tanks in storage. Rifles that don't work.....

The UK should retire gracefully from Empire. Do a Sweden instead.

I'm thinking that they will. Putin has only said that he would "make things difficult" if Russian assets are threatened. If he allows us and NATO to pound Syrian troops and bases, what happens then? We will continue with our murderous marching across country after country until Russia is fully contained. Then bam, we .....?

Anyone else seeing this happening?

I won't be surprised if they shoot back. To say nothing of a U.S. guided missile destroyer getting sunk. I'm really glad to see Tucker Carlson pushing back. Madness.

The Cook launches 60 missiles, one is a failure to launch, 6 malfunction and fall into the sea, 43 are shot down, 3 miss the target, the remaining 4 take out two Cesnas, a Piper Cub, and one hits an empty hanger with the only Coke machine.
Russia responds with one hypersonic 500 pounder and takes out Marine One on the White House lawn.
That would be great, yeah, thats the ticket.
