Disband American Cops

More evidence in the overwhelming case that American law enforcement cannot be reformed, from this month's issue of Criminal Legal News:

Data: High Rate of Sexual Abuse by Cops

A recent Associated Press investigation indicates that sexual misconduct is among “the most prevalent type of complaint among law officers.” A 2010 Cato Institute report ranked harassment and abuse prevalent complaints against cops, second only to excessive force. And according to Splinter News, review of victim reports and media inquiries suggests that a police officer is busted for sexual abuse or harassment every five days.

Even when they are caught the reports are purged:

A Reuters review of police contracts in 82 large cities confirmed that collective bargaining contracts are highly protective of police officers who are accused of misconduct. In 62 of the cities, officer misconduct reports are purged, sometimes regardless of the source of the complaint.

Stephen Rushin’s work also highlights the problem of contracts that allow serial abusers to continue preying on unsuspecting citizens. The Loyola School of Law researcher and criminologist reviewed 800 such contracts and found only one that specifically referenced discipline for sexual misconduct. According to Rushin, the more worrisome issue is the “pattern of similar behavior” that is lost when officer records are purged.

Even prosecutors don't know:

California is among 22 states that keep officer discipline records secret from the public eye and is the only state that blocks prosecutors from seeing police personnel records. While the list comprises but a small percentage of the roughly 9,400 sworn officers in the department, officers on the Brady list were used in more than 62,000 cases since 2000, according to district attorney records. Under Brady, the concealment of a law enforcement witness’ past conduct may affect many of those cases.

Even L.A. Prosecutors Can't Get List Of Lying Cops

Here's a little comic relief:
“Get Out of Jail” Free Cards for Cops’ Family, Friends Cut

The cut was ordered to stop the sale of cards on eBay for $200. NY cops are butthurt:

Members of the force were not happy with the decision to slash the number of cards they can give out. “They are treating active members like s**t, and retired members even worse than s**t,” a recently retired NYPD cop told the Post. “All the cops I spoke to were ... very disappointed they couldn’t hand them out as Christmas gifts.”

Instead of complaining about the reduced number of cards received in the ethically-challenged practice, cops should be grateful for the 20 they’re receiving because that’s still exactly 20 more than they should be getting.

Cops Killed 100 Times More Americans Than Terrorists Did in 2017

Or maybe file it under American Cops Are America's Greatest Terrorist Threat

[Edit to add Police Violence Plague

Among the agencies being supplied with night-vision equipment, body armor, hollow-point bullets, shotguns, drones, assault rifles and LP gas cannons are the Smithsonian, U.S. Mint, Health and Human Services, IRS, FDA, Small Business Administration, Social Security Administration, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Education Department, Energy Department, Bureau of Engraving and Printing and an assortment of public universities.

Seriously, why do IRS agents need AR-15 rifles?

drove down to Mexico. On their 3rd day, their car was pulled over by the Mexican gendarme; the Federales to be specific. The cops shook them down for $100 for tickets (about $350 in 2018 dollars)to a boxing match that probably didn't exist.

To this day, I remembered be horrified when they told me about it. Thank God that we didn't have that banana republic garbage here! But in 2018, a shakedown for fake tickets is a bargain compared to what we get from the organized crime ring called the police in America 2018.

something similar with me. pulled over for 'speeding' in a rotary, said I could avoid jail by paying him 20. OK, 20 pesos it is. Drew his gun and said dollars dip shit. I obliged. Extortion is a bit more blatant down south. More sublime in the greatest red hat comb over evah. Just find a cheaper way to bury gramma. Makes the red hats proud.

Why indeed do those departments need that equipment? I read about this when it was first exposed about 4-5 years ago. There really is only one reason why they would need that equipment and I don't think it bodes well for us.

The message echoes from Gaza back to the US. “Starving people is fine.”

@snoopydawg

They have to give it away in order to replace it, or they would run out of storage.
