Victory in NY?

There is this:

Cynthia Nixon officially announces she will challenge Gov. Cuomo in Democratic primary

Cuomo’s camp had no immediate comment on Nixon entering the race. But last week the governor suggested he believed Mayor de Blasio, her friend and frequent Cuomo foe, was behind it.

He also mocked her as a B-level celebrity, saying he’d be more worried if it were Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie or Billy Joel running against him.

Nixon had been working with two of the mayor’s former political consultants as she decided whether to enter the race.

She is also married to Christine Marinoni, with whom she has two children and who until last week worked for the city Education Department.

Nixon has been urged to challenge Cuomo by those in the progressive wing of the Democratic party who remain unhappy with Cuomo.

And there is this:

The Democrats’ Only Hope: Give Up Leftism for Lambism

Voters knew better. Lamb made it clear, time after time, that he would oppose Nancy Pelosi remaining in her position as the party’s leader in the House. He also said he would obey the law on abortion, although he personally opposed it. Moreover, like some on both the left and the right, he favored the Trump trade tariffs, as well as being a gun owner who liked shooting. And, as voters knew, he had been a U.S. Marine.

And you wonder why we can't have nice things.

Normally I would look askance at a celebrity running for public offfice, but this time it at least looks legitimate.
Normally I would see pro life as a red flag, but I consider opposition to Pelosi, and supporting tarriffs as countervailing. I automatically assume that making a compromise is code for betrayal, but this is a trade I would consider. ("obey the law even though..." is a risk that it is not a lie, but for me an acceptable risk)

On to Biden since 1973

@doh1304 isn't necessarily bad, but the way it's been done in the US political realm it has major pitfalls. Incrementalism IMO. Funny, the PTB have made even compromise into something one cannot fully trust. Bastards are good, aren't they?

A. She likes girls.
B. She's adept at pretending to be somebody other than herself.

I'm not going to get all excited just yet, but she can't possibly be worse that Cuomo -- who somehow gets to continue belonging to the Democratic party despite, if I recall correctly, colluding to hand the NY legislature over to the Republicans.

To the tune now of +8 in the number of -ahem- "Democrats" that have crossed the aisle to the dark side.
@UntimelyRippd
Of course, what this is is Repubs running as Dems, getting elected as Dems, then switching sides after taking the oath.
And one would think an elected sitting Dem Governator would end the practice vis a vis sanctions or otherwise. But Cuomo is a Fake Dem too, so... the best of both worlds for him. He can claim to support and introduce progressive legislation - only to blame "those damn Republicons" for failure to bring said legislation to fruition. Of course eight of those legislators were elected as Dems, those 8 votes enough to swing legislation either way. And on and on it goes. "We" have had the same thing happen here in my beloved NY-21 on the Fed level. The last two cycles the "Dem" candidates were -ahem- "former" Repubs. Great choices there! Repub A or Fake Dem B. This is happening everywhere, not just here. Repubs are running as Dems everywhere. All those "Blue Dogs" came from somewhere. My guess is the Repub side of the aisle. It's going to be a long hard fight to oust these futhermuckers! But if we don't we are So hosed.

@UntimelyRippd The one good thing about her primary challenge to Cuomo is that it will force him to pretend to be progressive a little harder.

What's her platform?
What promises will she make (and break) to her constituents.
She's running on her celebrity status as far as I can find. No sweat. I can't vote in New York anyways.

Regardless of the path in life I chose, I realize it's always forward, never straight.

@Pricknick Her name was often mentioned in politics. She has been an activist on education, especially public schools, I think she has children in the system.

@chambord
to have more answers than she does.
She wants to be a governor? Then tell everybody what she believes in her own words.

She has been an activist on education, especially public schools

I would like to hear what she has done from those who she has helped and not her closely connected friends.
I don't give a shit about political experience. Look what we have from the experienced.
I want to know what she believes in or she can shut the hell up.
They don't call me Pricknick for nothing.

She beats Andy Cuomo in the Dem Cred category even if she is a Dem Lite.
@Pricknick
Dem Lite trumps Repub Lite. Not by much, maybe, but I'll take it vs. four more years of Repub Lite Andy.

And that's why he ran. It helps that he is handsome, ex-military and is anti-Pelosi. The basic reason he won is that he did not run on the "I'm not Trump" (INT) platform. That would have cost him greatly. Unknowns so far as the extent of his support for the MIC, fight for $15 (or something similar), paid tuition to public colleges.

It would be nice if Zephyr Teachout could win in the General but, even though she's not pro-Pelosi, she is a bit of an I'm-not-Trumper. If the Dems continue to make this campaign platform exclusively INT and offer at least some left-leaning programs and less free-trading, then they might have a shot.

Remember please that by the time midterms come around many Dems will be on the ropes for their part in the Trump witch hunt, CGI, campaign finance fraud (think Terry McAuliffe no. 1), but most especially DWS and the Awan gang's spying and dissemination of national secrets. Trump is a master of timing and will spring this immense load of dreck on the Dims when he judges it to be the right time. That time is coming.

The DCCC is a wounded DINOsaur with very little brain but high overhead. It will NOT adjust to the new landscape.

Former state Senator Terry Gipson has been all over the state for months now. I’ve donated to him and, we’re I still a Dem, would vote for him in the primary. Why would Nixon enter and split the progressive vote? Dem cannibalizes Dem.

Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.

A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.
