Don't like Donna Brazile? Then you must be racist

After crying wolf about racism for so long, people stop caring and legitimate racism gets ignored by too many people.

And in a related note, do you remember when NY Democrats rigged the NY Democratic primary for Hillary against Bernie by purging the voting rolls?

New York City's Board of Elections will acknowledge it broke the law and be making serious changes in its practices, according to the proposed settlement of a legal fight over the purge of more than 200,000 voters from city rolls.
... In a statement, Schneiderman said the city's Board of Elections "illegally purged over 200,000 New Yorkers from the rolls, violating the law and New Yorkers' trust in the institutions meant to protect their rights."
Schneiderman said the proposed settlement "would overhaul NYCBOE's practices for maintaining voter rolls, ensuring that the issues that led to the purges are addressed, and establishing frequent monitoring and oversight. My office will continue to protect all voters' access to the polls and continue to fight to expand voting rights."

It isn't just Republicans that like voter suppression.

They did it to Bernie when he ridiculed crooked DWS - called him an antisemite (at TOP).

Like you say, it detracts from real racism. (And antisemitism, and sexism, etc.)

Question: who gets charged for the violation of law in NY?

people being kicked off the voting rolls and had their party affiliation changed? With disdain and accusations of being poor losers.
The bots tell us that Bernie lost to Hillary by 4 million votes. This is such a big achievement when she had to cheat to do it.

Looks like it was a good thing that Bernie joined Perez on the unity tour. They got a lot accomplished, didn't they? And now they are letting Donna play again with the big kids on the DNC.

New York City's Board of Elections will acknowledge it broke the law and be making serious changes in its practices, according to the proposed settlement of a legal fight over the purge of more than 200,000 Bernie voters from city rolls.

The Clintonites used the Dems' registration software to identify likely Bernie voters and then bribed the BoE to purge those voters from the rolls.

I'm sure the details behind all that will be conveniently lost in this 'settlement'.

The current working assumption appears to be that our Shroedinger's Cat system is still alive. But what if we all suspect it's not, and the real problem is we just can't bring ourselves to open the box?

@Not Henry Kissinger
First, absolutely right.

That whole brouhaha of screaming by the Neoliberal douchebags that Bernie's IT people broke a firewall was a setup so that the Clinton campaign could assert that he was playing dirty.

Just the opposite was true. They set that trap so that they could identify who were the most committed Bernie voters and set about suppressing their votes by purging voter rolls, etc. I encountered randomly, without much effort, about a dozen people locally who had problems, including two on my own block who were staunch Bernie supporters unable to vote.

Same shenanigans happened in 2008 for $hills. Straight from the mouth of a staff member of a local congressman who supported both Obama and Bernie I was told that there were precincts in which not one vote was registered fro Obama.

There's no way Her won NY. Nah. Nope. The first early exit polls had it within the margin of error. But then mysteriously when the polls closed she was up by 20 pts. Total statistical impossibility. Pull up on YouTube some of the public grievances given at the NY BOE.

Here's John Nichols's report in the Nation, Feb 2008, "Harlem Mystery: Did Rangel's District Go for Barack Obama?" confirming what I was told

According to figures reported after the February 5 New York primary, Rangel's Harlem-based 15th district voted rather comfortably for Clinton. The unofficial count with 100 percent of the votes supposedly tabulated was:

Clinton -- 55,359 votes, 53 percent

Obama -- 47,514 votes, 45 percent

That was close enough to create a 3-3 delegate split. But it was a clear Clinton win, and thus there would be no pressure on Rangel to vote the will of a congressional district that backed Obama.

Or so it seemed.

Now comes Saturday's New York Times Metro Section report headlined: "Unofficial Tallies in City Understated Obama Vote."

According to the paper:

"Black voters are heavily represented in the 94th Election District in Harlem's 70th Assembly District. Yet according to the unofficial results from the New York Democratic primary last week, not a single vote in the district was cast for Senator Barack Obama.

That anomaly was not unique. In fact, a review by The New York Times of the unofficial results reported on primary night found about 80 election districts among the city's 6,106 where Mr. Obama supposedly did not receive even one vote, including cases where he ran a respectable race in a nearby district.

Sense a pattern?

How can an insurgent candidate, bucking the system and the party sentinels, ever get traction in the electoral system? And what about the debates, to increase visibility - limited to the Duopoly candidates? And what about the lapdog media, who in the last election sang along in perfect tune with the John Podesta's Pied Piper strategy to ensure the deeply disliked $hillary would have the best chance to win - but still couldn't? We could go on and on.

The Schneidermann announcement is a feel-good nothing. We knew it was happening then. It's just like the way the RW media operates: knowingly blast out a lie with the purpose of maligning an enemy; issue a retraction a week later in the back pages; and voila, mission accomplished. Enemy reputation impugned, nobody remembers retraction. Same for voting. Blatantly cheat, lie and steal; then admit it later. "Let's look forward, not backward." Hey, at least they admitted it was stolen. Not good enough. Same again with CIA/FBI revelations of things those of us on the real Left know to be true and live (i.e. surveillance and murder of members, etc), but are considered conspiracy theorists by the mainstream public. Until 30 years later when the truth comes out, reluctantly in drips and drabs, via the FOIA or something.

Our electoral system is a farce; this country's democracy is a fraud. It's totally subject to being manipulated by those with access/in power. Jimmy Carter won't even verify US results because we don't meet minimum standards of democracy. How fucking ironic is that?

I've got no faith at all in our electoral system, especially in the thuggish control by the Duopoly and the corporate donors they're beholden to. After what happened here in NY, then across the country (especially the first one in Iowa), I'll never forgive the Democratic Party. Completely dead to me.

They got precisely what they wanted: they bruised badly, essentially crushed, a nascent genuine grassroots Progressive movement that threatened to upturn Pay for Play politics and reinstitute a socialist platform that we had lost our way on. That, is something I'll never forget.

@Mark from Queens

Is an understatement of epic proportions. And yet, it was when I finally realized to what lengths those in power will go to subvert my constitutional right to vote for WHO I chose to vote for. It was also when I realized how connected those in power are to the vast network of electoral politics and how compliant the media was to not only look the other way, but to gaslight us into believing the lies they fomented to keep us quiet and to break our spirits.

I will never forget what they did to us. Never.

This is too dumbed down and scripted for me, but it makes the point:
CBS: Superdelegates explained

WTF. That was 2008, reminding me again how 2000 was decided. WTF

I call my rep. a Clinton tool because he was one of those Clinton superdelegates that pre-announced his support, even before the primaries began. Bernie won our district anyway, despite all the shenanigans.

CA-02 was called for Clinton on primary election day, but when they stopped counting votes Bernie had won with 53%.

Clinton lost CA-02! No headlines about that, move along nothing to see. CA-02 is pretty pretty big, it includes the whole coast from SF to Oregon. FOR Bernie, not Clinton, but they shoved her on us for the General anyway, "That's the system." Aargh!

I guess Independents like voter suppression too, or Bernie really is a "don't look back" D in disguise. Because money, or what? Look who has an active dark money organization right now, trademarked and everything. Second book is Get Out The Vote for children. Demographics, same as it ever was. meh

Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.

A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.

After crying wolf about racism for so long, people stop caring and legitimate racism gets ignored by too many people.
