Harris Corp's automated recruiter says I matched new jobs. The Description and Requirements Say Otherwise.

So I got an email saying I matched a new job. My ass. The description reads like they're looking to hire from within. It's far too specific for me to believe they're looking for someone trainable. Or worse, they aren't looking to hire at all.

Please be aware many of our positions require the ability to obtain one. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens. In addition, applicants who accept a conditional offer of employment may be subject to government security investigation(s) and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

By submitting your résumé for this position, you understand and agree that Harris Corporation may share your résumé, as well as any other related personal information or documentation you provide, with its subsidiaries and affiliated companies for the purpose of considering you for other available positions.

Harris is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. We consider applicants without regard to race, color, religion, age, national origin, ancestry, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, marital status, veteran status, disability, genetic information, citizenship status, or membership in any other group protected by federal, state or local law.

I can be trained to do this and I know it. Yet for reasons far beyond my control, jobs like these are unobtainable. Shit like this is the exact reason that, if I ever had the opportunity, I'd tell the hiring managers who write this kind of crap to fuck right off.

In other news...I actually paid a visit to an old supervisor today. Things at the office are hectic because of Hurricane Irma and such, but it seems I have a few more potential customers because of this visit. A lot of people seem to think there's huge potential for this little enterprise of mine to take off.

See ya around,

Aspie

The military security clearance game is a nightmare anyway, Aspie. To get the clearances which enable one to view classified materials, one needs to have lived a perfect life from birth -- and this in the eyes of the military-industrial complex.

If you are male, this means you served in the military and possess an honorable discharge. Male life-long civilians can theoretically qualify, but at least where I live, the environment is full of recent veterans who already have the clearances. Even if lapsed, it's still about $30,000 (or more) cheaper to reinstate a "Top Secret" clearance than to create one from scratch.

So you can guess who gets those jobs.

At least I'd venture to bet we too would need an honorable discharge. Unless you know something I don't.

I DO know, that if you're from another country, you can do IT work for our government, with seriously high clearance. And, I know that Dronebama loosened the H-1B Visa restrictions, so Aspie, tons of others and I get fucked without even a kiss.

@Deja

Same for female vets too At least I'd venture to bet we too would need an honorable discharge. Unless you know something I don't.

I think you're right there.

And the ultimate preference still goes to vets, regardless of gender, who held Top Secret or better clearances while in the military, for the reasons I mentioned earlier (basically $$$).

To work for the federal government, with uber high clearance, and can get a bunch of relatives high security IT jobs for the govt. too. Not talking about janitorial or even armed security jobs, but access to the whole freaking network apparently . Makes me wanna hurl, as my almost 50 year old ass looks for yet another freaking job. Ugh.

@Deja

Yes, but he was a criminal type, which qualified him to work for DWS in ways that any vestige of the purity they so despise would require whistleblowing and running to another country for your life. Not worth it...

Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.

A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.
