Obama went and done it, for real job creation
I have wrote many times describing the scale of the un/underemployed and the scale of solution needed to fix things. The job deficit equals the infrastructure deficit, and they equal the SS deficit.
So if we create enough jobs, employers will have to compete for skilled workers, this drives wages up, sometimes it does so faster than the inflation rate. This is often referred to as "Real Wage Growth". And since 1973 Wage Growth has not kept up with inflation.
Our electrical infrastructure is old, some sections 60-80 or more years old. HVDC for long distance transmission is off the self and ready to go, FERC applications for pumped hydro storage are increasing. In fact application for these projects are increasing to the point that FERC is hiring, kind of...

Over 34 gigawatts of pumped hydro storage projects have been issued Preliminary Permits, the equivalent of 34 nuclear power plants (Fission).

But back to what Obama did, he proposed to spend 1 Trillion dollars a year on infrastructure.
Don't choke on your chicken sandwich.
A Trillion dollars a year should create about 25 million jobs. That actually might be more jobs than people looking, for a real good job. For the first time in the Obama Presidency, Obama has talked about serious job creation.
Currently, when everything is accounted for, we are spending about $1 trillion a year on the military-industrial complex—war machinery, personnel, paying off the cost of previous wars, caring for the health of veterans of previous wars. We need to invest the same amount every year to restore our crumbling infrastructure and innovate it so that it is no longer founded on fossil fuel.
That's $1 trillion a year for at least a decade to build a renewable energy infrastructure, including mass transit.

color me cynical, but...
i'm completely unimpressed by obama having a huge change of heart and proposing progressive sorts of things at the point where they have absolutely no chance of support in the legislature - all at the same time he's trying to sneak crap like tpp over on us.
Yep
It is easy to be liberal or progressive when you know it has no chance of passing. Where was Obama in 2009 on these issues? Where is Obama today on the free trade issues? Sadly, while we may want to believe, it is all about diversionary politics.

Obama
was first elected by a large majority and his party controlled both chambers of Congress. They could have passed anything. All they did was tell us to shut up about everything because health care was too important. And how did health care turn out? Never mind. I know. We all do.
He had his chance and he could have been great. He blew the chance and will go down as one of the worst presidents in history. And if nothing else, a huge disappointment.

job creation
Shoulda run on job creation in 2010. & 2012 & 2014. We'd probably have improved our majority each time.
FDR 9-23-33, "If we cannot do this one way, we will do it another way. But do it we will.
Yup, 6 yrs too late
I always thought the Dems should have forced the GOP to run against Dem job proposals.

In 2009
I said that a major push to convert to clean renewable energy, rebuild the grid, and update our infrastructure would be the best jobs program that we could have. It was a no brainer. Sadly, the Democrats never really tried.

That the game, don't you see?
When the Dems are in power, the GOP blocks everything by holds and filibusters. But when the GOP is in power, what do the Dems do to block their horrible bills? Nothing.
The GOP should have been out of the game for decades after Bush.
How did people know a year in advance that the Dems would lose the senate? Then look at how shitty their campaigns were. If it looks like they threw the election, chances are that they did.
Folks on KOS are all excited that Obama is finally trying to do something. That's the Obama they voted for.
But with the TPP waiting in the wings, they don't see how he's just blowing smoke.
I saw thru his con after the FISA and public option scams. He was nowhere to be seen during the healthcare debates. That's because he was making deals behind closed doors.
Say this on KOS, and his defenders bring out the racist or hater whammy.
Scientists are concerned that conspiracy theories may die out if they keep coming true at the current alarming rate.
Yes, I understand this ugly game
My post had nothing to do with supporting or defending the Dems or Obama. It had to do with what was my ultimate desire of helping people.
