Peggy Noonan: Savant?

In her weekly Saturday column in the WSJ, the typical lengthy "analysis" focused on Drumpf "focusing", being Presidential and doing a decent job with his UN speech (her assessment).

Column: Trump Gets Blunt at the United Nations

And then, the denouement:

Two final points: One is that Mr. Trump is on a roll, a sustained one the past few weeks, and this is new. All levels of government performed well in the hurricanes. Mr. Trump showed competence, focus and warmth. His bipartisan outreach, however it ends, went over well with core supporters and others. He had a strong speech at the U.N., in fact a successful U.N. week, beginning to end. His poll numbers are inching toward 40%.

Which gets us to point two: This is a very important moment for him. History suggests he will ruin it any minute with intemperate statements, wiggy decisions or crazy tweets.

He does this because he’s somewhat compulsive and has trouble governing himself. He also does it because he thinks his supporters like it. Some do, but most don’t. He thinks they all do because he misunderstands his base.

Mr. Trump’s supporters should push back when he starts to go slightly mad. They should tweet at him: “Stop, Donald! Be U.N. Donald, not Twitter Donald.”

They should tweet this to him by the millions. Because he does feel some loyalty to them, and it’s possible he might try to listen.

Figuring this piece was composed prior to Saturday, then Peggy is a Savant.

In less than 24 hours, He turned the entirety of the NFL, NBA and MLB against him and probably a whole lot of the fans.

Today in England, Ravens vs Jags - both teams took the knee INCLUDING THEIR OWNERS in a foreign country. In the Pit vs Chi game, the Steelers waited for the anthem to be over before taking the field.

Steph Curry and the Warriors told him to shove it. Lebron called him a Bum that doesn't deserve respect.

MLB players are now taking the knee.

If the NHL was playing you think they'd want to be left out even though it's the whitest sport aside from curling on the planet? /s

I find it questionable we will survive this Administration in any way better than what was left by BO.

You see, the most important issue for our country is football players kneeling during the National Anthem. "You're Fired! We'll take care of "Little Rocket Man, believe me..." Wait I'm not on TeeVee?"

Where are Chuck and Nancy and Dick and Steny when I need them so desperately to provide leadership? Oh wait...never mind.

Buckle down.

This will not end well.

But hey, I really like all you folks!

Regardless of the path in life I chose, I realize it's always forward, never straight.

the little things you can do are more valuable than the giant things you can't! - @thanatokephaloides. On Twitter @wink1radio. (-2.1) All about building progressive media.

to be both utterly superficial and bombastically grandiose at the same time. She was probably good at polishing up Reagan's heroic image. But trying to paint Trump as a True American Conservative just ain't gonna work. He's not a conservative icon Peggy, he's a one-man wrecking crew.
