The ability to govern has been lost

Here's the new news.

McCain to oppose Graham-Cassidy, likely sinking Obamacare repeal

http://www.politico.com/story/2017/09/22/mccain-to-oppose-graham-cassidy...

When the Dems had it in 2009, even with their wheeling dealing (see Cornhusker Kickback) They still somehow jammed ACA through.

The Rethugs? They have the Congress, Senate and Potus. They also have the majority of State Govs and State Houses (Thanks BO).

And yet? They cannot legislate. They cannot pass a bill. They cannot "manage" 4 Senators. Hey Turtle, you fg finesser you, you actually suck at your job..

I really am not taking sides here. I am saying that our Republic is fucked. They, all of them, cannot govern. They are too scared, worried about campaign $$ and god forbid anyone actually votes by name on anything.

And yet the great unwashed masses keep voting these lifers in again and again and again.

Disclosure. My father died of a brain tumor. There is absolutely no fucking way how McCain is still in this. Hey, you just had a chunk of your brain carved out. Who the hell is telling him he is rational anymore? Why didn't he retire? My fathers first comments after surgery was that he admired the "magic boulders" hanging outside his hospital room window.

Insane. Just insane.

Y'a know, the Preppers are looking pretty prescient.

Great Job, and now everybody will be talking about how McCain "saved" us and is SUCH a "Maverick", and lost in the confusion will be the memory of how we were just talking about Medicare for all. Or that we even were discussing that. NOW, we have to talk about reasonable cuts to pay for that war bill we just passed.

I really think this is what's happening here.

Arizona Republicans -- in fact, Arizonans in general -- like their Maverick Senator. They want their Maverick Senator. If McCain doesn't defy the GOP here and there he risks being voted out of the Senate.

So here's a place he can do just that, win votes and respect nationally, and keep his Senate job for a little longer.

I'm saying that McCain hates Trump's guts, and will spend what is left of his life stabbing Trump in the back.
I don't think McCain will resign. He was just re-elected, he has five years left whether he is on the floor or in a hospital bed.
While he can still show up to vote, he'll cause Trump as much trouble as he can. Once he can't make it to the floor his vote is gone, essentially a "no" on everything.

it is going as planned by TPTB. The corporations (and CIA) rule supreme.

The big winners of ACA were the insurance companies...who own many in congress. They don't want to get rid of the mandate nor the subsidies (which are paid to them after all). After next Friday it will take 60 senate votes and it really is over then.

Chris Hedges pointed out some time ago that the over all plan is proceeding nicely....the corporate coup is complete. And the sheeple still think voting and politics matter. Boy are we naive.

around the smouldering battlefield to see who is left to fight on the side of the 99%, the only ones left are the progressives from C-99 Company. The equivalent of The 300 v. the Persians; Buffalo Bills v. New England; San Diego v. The Yanks. Good luck one and all.

odds, too. They're so low Vegas won't touch them. There's something about living today, having grown up and lived in real America my first 30, 35 years, that makes living today a Twilight Zone nightmare that, 20 years ago even, seemed impossible. But here we are. "Senior Citizens" having to fight for every "Entitlement" Benefit that's been guaranteed for many many moons. And, yeah, my butt is on the line, literally, when it comes to how this all shakes out, but it's the kids, my neices' and nephews' kids, for whom I pick up a torch.
From old Genesis song "The Knife"...

"Tell me my life is about to begin
Tell me that I am a hero,
Promise me all of your violent dreams
Light up your body with anger.
Now,
in this ugly world
it is time to destroy this evil.
Now,
when I give the word
are you ready to fight for your freedom?
Now -

Stand up and fight, for you know we are right
We must strike at the lies
That have spread like disease through our minds.
Soon we'll have power, every soldier will rest
And we'll spread out our kindness
To all who our love now deserve.

Some of (us) are going to die -
Martyrs of course to the freedom that (we) shall provide.

We saw how the brain tumor affected his affect when he was questioning Comey about Hillary's emails. He was so confused about what he was trying to ask him that people felt embarrassed for him.
He is 80 years old and he has spent his entire career on screwing as many people as he could. This Great War veteran who crashed 5 planes has voted against every veteran's bill that has been brought up.
Now people are going to tell him that he's the maverick again and that he saved the ACA from being repealed.
The other huge elephant that no one talks about is that people are upset with the republicans for trying to pass a bill that will take health insurance from over 20 million people, but no one even mentions the same number of people who don't have it now. How many years has it been since this was passed?
According to the health experts, over 45,000 people die every year because they don't have health insurance.
Where is the outrage for this?

@LaFeminista

Republic fucked and lead by a madman. ...

Funded, staffed and 'advised' by them, too.

Just wait until Trump actually gets impeached to allow Dick Cheney to run the Presidency through his great emulator, Pence. If that's even necessary to achieve the same ends, as the threat of impeachment (and potentially others) seems to be enough to keep Trump working toward global disaster...

Cheney emerges as surprise Trump surrogate

The president-elect trashed his foreign policy during the campaign, but they've found common cause in Rex Tillerson.

By ELIANA JOHNSON

12/16/2016

During the campaign, Donald Trump trashed the hawkish foreign policy of the second Bush White House. But now, he and his team are relying on the man most closely identified with that regime — Dick Cheney — to help ensure that Rex Tillerson is confirmed next year as Trump's secretary of state. ...

...It’s a scenario no one could have possibly foreseen: that one of the key architects of the Iraq War, which Trump slammed on the campaign trail, is now being enlisted as an emissary for a man Trump wants to help steer his ship of state. ...

...The former vice president is also in close contact with senior Trump aides. Cheney speaks frequently with the vice president-elect, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, who himself serves as a liaison between the president-elect and Capitol Hill, and who has said he hopes to model his vice presidency on Cheney’s.

“Mike relishes the advice,” said a senior transition aide, who added that Cheney is “willing to do what he’s asked” and “wants to be helpful” to the incoming administration.” The aide denied, however, that Cheney's conversations were part of a coordinated effort between Trump Tower and Capitol Hill to push for Tillerson’s confirmation.

Same old, same old, at least until the mold is scraped out of The Swamp toilet facilities, buried as they are under Bullshit Mountain.

Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.

A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.

repubs can't govern, when dems are just as awful.

The dems passed a repub plan - that is how it got through.
