USS John S. McCain in the news

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/08/20/rescue-efforts-launched-us-wa...

Search and rescue efforts are under way after a US destroyer collided with a merchant vessel in southeast Asia.

The USS John S McCain was involved in a collision with the Alnic MC east of Singapore and the Strait of Malacca, the US 7th Fleet said in a statement.

The accident happened at 5.24am local time as the guided-missile destroyer was heading to Singapore for a routine visit.

I'm no writer, and I know our resident alligator has written on the prior USN incident, but such lax navigation seems very odd.

The Royal Navy has very few ships these days, but if they are involved in such an incident, the captain faces a court martial.

…to the Fitzgerald. This sort of thing is very, very rare in the Navy. That's what made the story so interesting. A determination was made on the Fitzgerald three days ago:

Senior officer on USS Fitzgerald to be relieved of command after fatal collision

The captain of a Navy warship that lost seven sailors in a collision with a commercial container ship in June will be relieved of command and nearly a dozen others face punishment, the Navy's second-ranking admiral said Thursday.

Adm. William Moran, the vice chief of naval operations, told reporters that the top three leaders aboard the USS Fitzgerald, which was badly damaged in the collision off the coast of Japan, will be removed from duty aboard the ship.

In addition, nearly a dozen face non-judicial punishment that has yet to be determined, Moran said, adding that details on those actions are to be announced Friday after they are completed.

Moran said the actions are to be taken shortly, although the Navy's investigation into how and why the USS Fitzgerald collided with the container ship in June has not yet been completed.

"Serious mistakes were made by members of the crew," Moran said, adding that he could not fully detail those mistakes because the investigation is ongoing. He said "the bridge team," or the sailors responsible for keeping watch on the ship's bridge to ensure it remains safe, had "lost situational awareness," which left them unable to respond quickly enough to avoid the disaster once the oncoming container ship was spotted.

That accident was fresh in everyone's mind. So one would think it would be a long time before we hear about something like that again happening in the Navy.

Of course, the John S. McCain was out there crossing into Chinese waters and terrorizing China's island buildout in the South China Sea, which they have been wasting money doing since the beginning of the year.

Then, this.

SS John S. McCain, a guided-missile destroyer, was involved in a collision early Monday with a merchant vessel east of Singapore and the Strait of Malacca, according to the U.S. Navy.

Search and rescue efforts are underway, U.S. Navy's 7th Fleet says. The Singaporean Navy is sending assets to assist and the USS America is en route to help. The collision was reported at 6:24 a.m. Japan Standard Time, according to the U.S. Navy.

"In addition to tug boats out of Singapore, the Republic of Singapore Navy ship RSS Gallant, RSN helicopters and Police Coast Guard vessel Basking Shark are currently in the area to render assistance," the Navy's statement read.

The ship was on its way to Singapore after finishing what the Navy called "routine patrols" in the South China Sea. One of those patrols was a Freedom of Navigation mission near contested islands which China has built and claims as their own in the South China around August 10.

The bullshit "Freedom of Navigation mission" was concocted by the whacked-out Pentagon, which has been using military ships and planes to provoke China. The Pentagon claims — based on no evidence whatsoever — that China might one day attempt to block all shipping trade in the region. You know — from the tiny atoll they are perched on. The US military has been simultaneously terrorizing North Korea with battlefleet war games, trespass, and bomber fly-overs since February — in case anyone wonders why North Korea has been so paranoid and reactive lately. Walk in their shoes.

Now we have some understanding of what the destroyer, Fitzgerald, might have been up to, wandering around in the South China Sea without its battlegroup.

The only nation that is screwing up shipping channels in Asia is the United States. No surprise there. The Pivot to China was doomed from the moment Hillary debuted it at the State Department.

Meanwhile, there's search and rescue underway? Whoa. It could be karma. It is currently morning in China.

@Pluto's Republic Will it be our captain's fault again?
I don't believe anything reported other than a collision.
If this is an accident, I will kiss Trump's nasty ass.

A truth of the nuclear age/climate change: we can no longer have endless war and survive on this planet. Oh sh*t.

@Pluto's Republic
I agree with you that our country is trying to provoke a military response from China, North Korea and Russia. The Air Force has been buzzing Russian jets.
Gawd knows that if any other country was buzzing around our borders, this would be treated as an act of war and our country would definitely respond with force.

, which they have been wasting money doing since the beginning of the year.

This type of action has been going on since our country started messing around with other countries. This is the definition of American hegemony.
I live by an Air Force base and there are jets flying around for hours every day. The number of gallons of fuel for one hour of flying is equivalent to a family of 4's driving for a whole year. This happens all around our country and the foreign air bases we have all over the world.
We just built 8 bases in Syria. This again is our country's arrogance.
The other branches of our military are also spending gobs of money practicing for war.

I went sailing a few years ago and I don't understand how two big ships could collide. The ships seem to only move when I looked away from them, so I don't understand how this could happen. The ships have all kinds of radar equipment to make sure that this doesn't happen.

@Meteor Man when she rammed a Liberian tanker midship near Sicily. A tanker and aircraft carrier are the biggest boats out there! As to the "stoned or drunk", Rosey was affectionately called The Floating Headshop for awhile. I was just over the shafts in a reefer (cooler, not the drug) indulging in hash (the drug, not the food) when the floor lifted up and I was pressed against the wall. I thought " damn good shit!" Then our lookout wrenched open the door yelling " General Quarters".

…I canot help but wonder if we were the ones who changed the game. The Republicans and their Right Wing haven't changed. I've been monitoring them and they remain sloganized and neurologically handicapped. Not only can they not provide a comprehensive answer, they are unable to formulate a productive question.

@snoopydawg

An intellectually honest person might actually resonate with a right-wing issue that is empirically reasonable, on one day — and on a different day they might find mental accord with a Democratic decision that is unambiguously fair. But an intellectually honest person simply cannot practice good mental hygiene inside either camp. 'Thar be dragons and dread' in the immoral racketeering pits of the duopoly. I believe that a recent change was triggered in us. We cannot abide in the absence of evidentiary fact, which has set us adrift in the largest political group in America: The Unrepresented.

Off the top of my head, I'm guessing that a large number of Americans have seen something they were not supposed to see. The people may not realize it yet, but they will. The Deep State knows this and is racing against time.

Deep State neuters Trump and what his options are in regard to the North Korean threat.
This article was written before the democratic primary was decided. The author goes into detail about what could happen if both Hillary and Donald won.

The Neocons and the “deep state” have neutered the Trump Presidency, it’s over folks! (UPDATED 2x)

I don't know anything about this author or the website or even how I came across it., so I'm not sure if what he's saying is true or not. Plus it takes awhile for him to get to his point.

and/or the Bipartisan Political Establishment have 'won.' I believe that Bannon said as much as he exited stage right (or, is it left?).

Wink

Regarding Israel--DT has always been close to 'Bibi,' which I gather is one reason that conservative Protestant evangelicals like him (DT) so much. When Jared was in high school, 'Bibi' stayed overnight in his bed at his family home in New Jersey. Apparently, Daddy Kushner was fairly wealthy, and a major donor to Jewish causes. That's probably one of the reasons that Jared's been put in charge of negotiating a peace settlement between Israel and Palestine, and possibly one reason that the Bipartisan Establishment has targeted him--how would it look if a thirty-something achieved peace in the Israeli–Palestinian conflict, that has eluded all the preceding [so-called] brilliant and seasoned Presidents and Secretaries of State?

Not to imply that Jared can do it; but, one has to wonder if the PtB resent his special relationship with a fairly major leader and ally (Bibi) on the world stage.

Charlottesville 2

What the liberal/progressive/left is trying to do with Charlottesville is to associate Trump supporters with White Supremacists and in this way demonize Trump supporters so that they will not have a voice when Trump is overthrown in a coup. Or it can be put in a different way: Charlottesville is being used by someone to discredit Trump and the people who elected him in order to pave the way for a coup, and the liberal/progressive/left is enabling the plot.

~~~snip~~~
The Daily Kos also equates Trump’s blaming both sides for the violence, which is what the media reports show to be the case, with a defense of “white supremacist/neo-Nazi violence.”
/openness.com
This is a very good question:
Ah, so, why did the liberal/progressives align with the military/security complex and the neoconservatives against Donald Trump who declared, to his undoing, his intention to normalize relations with Russia, thus removing the enemy needed to justify the $1 trillion annual budget of the military/security complex? These vast monies could have gone into health care for the unprovided, into public assistance for the unprovided, but the liberal/progressive/left would not have it. If the liberal/progressives are so against violence and hate, why do they support the hate campaign against Trump and Russia?
Many of us have been asking this same question about why so many people are believing that Russia interfered with the election even though they have seen any evidence and why are they are believing what the intelligence agencies have been telling them. These are the same agencies that said Saddam had WMDs, that the Kuwait military was throwing babies out of incubators and that a ship was attacked in the Gulf of Tonkin and other lies that they want us to believe so that people will get behind their wars., so why would they believe them after they had lied to us so many times. Is this just because Hillary lost the election to Donald F'cking Trump? The only way that this could have happened is for another country interfering with the election. She couldn't have lost it without help from another country.
They can't accept that she was a shitty candidate. There has to be another reason, right?
Sigh.
@snoopydawg thanks, I went looking around myself after Tall Bald and Ugly's comment on the street fighters, found this CT everywhere: Charlottesville Attack, Brennan Gilmore and… the STOP KONY 2012 Pysop? What?
UPDATE: Moon of Alabama blog makes some valid comparisons between this event and those that took place in Kiev during our color revolution
(of course, those were REAL Nazis throwing fire bombs at the police as opposed to FAKE NAZIS, probably police provocateurs, whom the police didn’t bother with and were given a stand-down order to stay out of the way till some good violence unfolded)
Go back and look at the video Brennan Gilmore posted of the Charlottesville attack. Go back and look at it. Something very odd and OBVIOUS is staring us in the face and all we have to do is step back and take a breath and see what’s right there for us to see.
Start following the evidence and PU! I cannot believe it. What kind of animal brings excrement? A plant! A plant with a camera to record a murder and go on TV about it, fully prepped. How depraved. Kill Your Television c'mon peops this is real.
Unfortunately, I just viewed that p.o.s. film put out by citizensunited too, it is pure garbage. Why did she even bother to have it censored? For the truth embedded within, I guess. The evil within. Either that or she wanted the law to be overturned, moar profit moar power. How awful.
