No, this is not a joke
Jon Ossoff will be leading a panel discussion at Netroots on Saturday about winning the 2018 midterm elections pic.twitter.com/uRcJwZyJHR

Ossoff has never actually won an election. So what sort of advice will he give the residents of the GOS?
LEAVING IT ALL ON THE FIELD: THE MIDTERM ELECTIONS IN THE RESISTANCE ERA
Leaving it all on the field. You know. Like the Nazis at Stalingrad, the Texans at the Alamo, and Custer at Little Big Horn.
Prediction time: the panelist will ultimately reach the conclusion that they aren't doing anything wrong, they only need better messaging.

I've never been to Netroots, and I doubt I ever will go, but this is what I expect from it.
Toward the end of the first panel I attended, one audience member censured another for failing to recognize his privilege during a question-and-answer session. The crowd cheered in approval. "Your privilege is showing," the man said in a reprimand from the microphone, scolding his peer with disgust.
Just think of how much virtue you can signal at Netroots.

Netroots
The Netroots have obviously invaded the mainline of the sewer, and now look and smell accordingly.
In other words, they stink to the highest heavens! Just like the Daily Kos cesspit which engendered them!

Has been that way
for a few years now. Certainly since Phoenix NN15, if not Detroit NN14. Providence NN12 was my first NN, and the last I attended that felt like a progressive event. By the time I got to Phoenix, well, the Wall Street corporate "Democrats" had taken over.
the little things you can do are more valuable than the giant things you can't! - @thanatokephaloides. On Twitter @wink1radio. (-2.1) All about building progressive media.
One was enough for me.
We wanted decent healthcare, a living wage and free college.
The Democrats gave us Biden and war instead.
At least I got to
meet you for a cold one in Phoenix! Pretty tasty suds that night! Phonenix was the NN event that Markos and much of TOP boycotted becuz sumpthin' sumpthin' papers please nonsense. Markos felt "unsafe" or some such. Was nice to meet you!

Igualmente señor ...
That was a pivotal convention when you think about it. That one Democratic website didn't boycott Netroots Nation because of Arizona, or SB1070 or Sheriff Joe. They boycotted Bernie and progressives.
We wanted decent healthcare, a living wage and free college.

Always amuses me
Hilarious!
Incidentally, I was unaware we were living in the era of resistance, certainly not resisting the same the Netroots do.
I do think they have much to learn from Ossoff, not that they are all that good at spotting irony.

resisting the Netroots
I think we're the resistance against the Netroots at this point.

@thanatokephaloides Exactly!
Those pink hats were very offensive to me, a feminist since the 60's. The very last thing I want opposing attorneys, judges, juries, or clients to focus on is my vagina. My idea of winning the gender war is to render gender that last thing anybody in the room would think about. I cannot think of a single person I met or spoke to or read that refused to vote for Clinton because of gender. nobody!
And although this essay is not a joke, the Netroots convention sure was!

Did it look something like this?
Well played.

As near as I can tell
that dear leader over at TOP has put his application in to be a member of the the proverbial "deep state" what with the latest round of Avatar assassinations.

"The Resistance Era"???
Wearing a hat?
These people are delusional.
I remember, years ago, passing through an obscure village in France, noticing and reading a memorial plaque for members of a real resistance, who gave their lives (executed) resisting actual, real oppressors.
Attending some conference and quibbling about 'privilege' ain't resistance.

Gëzuar!!
from a reasonably stable genius.
Calling themselves the Resistance...
...is no less compelling than claiming they're leading a "progressive" movement from a place called the Regency.
[edited for grammar]
Let's face it, Russia will decide 2018.
Heh
@LaFeminista Well, they did it before!

Stand for something. Anything.
Yeah, right, pull the other one!!

They do so stand for something - before and after kneeling before their paymasters to receive their orders, payments and promises.
Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.
A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.
@Mickt
All those damned Commies always stand together! It'll be Berniebots, China, Russia and all of the other countries they've been planning to bomb/invade for years, all involved, mark my words (for future Dem talking-point identification. They never do miss a potential scapegoat, do they?)
Edit: even if I do - how could I possibly have forgotten the Russia-visiting Pope, evidently bought by their oligarchs rather than 'exceptional' American ones?

As Phil Ochs said
Can't Putin, Trump, Erdogan, Duterte, and Kim Jong Un just meet at a slumber party and compare dick sizes once and for all?
Or as Rowan Atkinson (as the devil) said, "Adulterers, adulterers, over here please? Form a line behind this small guillotine."
(Gollum voice:) Nasty Russianses!
I suppose in McResistance revisionist history now, the Russians “interfered with” and “rigged” World War II, too, by getting themselves invaded and having the temerity to defend themselves.

I went to NN14 in Detroit.
I was there for two days. One day was full of Dee Oliver prancing around with an entourage. The other was Reverend Barber as keynote speaker. He was awesome. Her, not so much.
The only privilege I see is six figure incomes telling 40K people how privileged they are.
"Religion is what keeps the poor from murdering the rich."--Napoleon
Hi, what are the 40 K folks telling
the 20K folks? To them the 40K people are already privileged enough, like having a job they can't get fired from within a day and not have a shared rental place with other 20 K folks (because their pay can't pay the rental prices on their own have to share)? Fired within a day (for no reason other than replacing a worker they would have to pay a little more than an new replacement worker), they then have no money to pay their part of the rent, and of course always loosing and not getting their security deposits back?
And the 20K folks should still believe in the American dream, when they would only work hard for manual labor they don't get trained for, because trade schools are for profit and they can't afford the schools, and employers don't train, because an untrained worker is so much cheaper and easier to fire and hire?
Dream on...I think there will be a rough awakening for lots of people.

How many Democratic Parties are there?
You got your clubby incrementalist-globalist Dems. The PINOs (progressive in name only).
And there's the privilege-check Dems, doing the heavy lifting for social justice.
Where do the workers class, pro union Dems fit in?
Were they all crammed into the same party before? They now have divergent interests. And, what about the Leftist socialist antiwar New Deal Dems? If you put them all in one tent — with the forced birthers, no less — representation won't twist and stretch that far. The only purpose corralling them in a big tent serves is to more efficiently exploit them for money. Where else are they gonna go?
In the end, workers and Leftists will be back on the outside, again. They might as well start the Working Party and get their own tent. The Independents will join them, eventually. They comprise the people who have no governing representation. They can't get it by being a third party, that system is rigged. So they should become a voters coalition that can hand victory to either the Dems or the GOP. Force the two parties to bid against each other at state and national levels, Make them offer policies that meet the needs of the people in the Working Party. Then block vote in the politicians with the best proposals. Ruin them if they don't perform.
The free market will sort it out and solve our little democracy problem in a jiffy.
Unfortunately, money talks, and others walk
People have such low expectations, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. If you can do better for yourself, why invest in a broken system? To make things better for those that can't appreciate it?!
What is beyond anger and pity?
Fighting for democratic principles,... well, since forever
Dear Ossoff
Mike Malloy gave you some advice.
1. Run in your own district.
2. Don't run ads about cancer. We all hate cancer, yadda yadda. Stand for something.
3. Marry your live-in girlfriend. You are running in Georgia, for Christ's sake. Buckle of the Bible Belt.
Malloy became unhinged and shameless for $hills/wife nailed him
His pathetic fall from grace was one of many, during the shameful 2016 episode of Progressives compromising their integrity by jettisoning their consciences to make excuses for why you were obligated to vote for the Anointed One, no matter who she was and how she got there.
His wife Kathy hands his ass to him here:
"I Wrote In Bernie Sanders": War At The Malloy´s (w/Kathy Malloy)
"If I should ever die, God forbid, let this be my epitaph:
THE ONLY PROOF HE NEEDED
FOR THE EXISTENCE OF GOD
WAS MUSIC"
- Kurt Vonnegut
In his defense, he did say over and over
As for me, I examined Hillary's positions on her website and felt I could vote for her in the general, even with reservations, because as Bill Maher pointed out, the other train leads straight to hell. But I won't mansplain to anyone who voted for someone else, though I would call a vote for Trump evidence of insanity.
Bruce Dixon of Black Agenda Report on Netroots Nation
I have never gone to one. But Dixon who has gone and who was in his own words was a democratic party activist for 25 years has a not so pleasant take on it. One of this main points is that Netroots is not a meeting of progressives, but rather a confluence of democratic party activists of various sorts.
