Clinton Romney campaign chiefs team up to protect elections from cyberattacks
Robby Mook, Clinton's 2016 campaign manager, and Matt Rhoades, Romney's 2012 campaign chief, will co-lead the Defending Digital Democracy Project at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, the Harvard Kennedy School announced on Tuesday.
The initiative will focus on developing "concrete solutions" to address the threat of hacks on political organizations and election infrastructure. It will seek to develop and share best strategies with organizations involved in the electoral sphere. The announcement marks the first major effort to explicitly organize regarding the growing concern over election-related cybersecurity threats.
"Cyberattacks on campaigns and elections are a threat to our democracy and affect people of all political stripes," Rhoades said in a statement, adding that, "Foreign actors could target any political party at any time, and that means we all need to work together to address these vulnerabilities."Eric Rosenbach, co-director of the Belfer Center and former chief of staff to former Secretary of Defense Ash Carter, will join Mook and Rhoades and serve as director of the project. Defending Digital Democracy has recruited two top election lawyers on the Democratic and Republican side to help steer the effort. The initiative has brought on additional experts with backgrounds in technology, national security and cybersecurity to serve on a senior advisory group. Facebook's chief security officer and Google's director of information security and privacy are among the members joining the group.

This is how IGNORANT the 'left' thinks we are. The very people who got caught rigging the 'democratic' primaries/caucuses in key states AND on a national level are now going to form a posse with Herr Mittens, he of the car elevator and disgust for '47% of the American public (and another failed candidate for the presidency) to ensure that our elections are safe from cheating.
IN MY OPINION The biggest reason for this whole 'Russia Thing' is to deflect from her/DNC/DWS cheating and lies. They're frantically doing this for a number of reasons but the biggest (IMO) is that going down in the historical record that they actually screwed the American people during the primary is just too shameful for her/them to stomach (even though it's the way it actually happened) so they'll say and do anything to prevent that from being her/their 'legacy'. Plus, it cuts into her/their future earning ability. She only has herself, Bill, and the kid to promote now. No position or high dollar influential foundation to milk. Mook & Co. only has a disgraceful record as a losing organisation that got caught with their hands in the political cookie jar. That's not much of a 'recommendation' now, is it?

Us Paper Ballots
...and we're done here.
Thanks for this Amanda.

Saw that at 5:05 a.m. This morning. I wondered
if I'd somehow gone down the rabbit hole or crossed into Bizarro World during the night. Things were still as strange and illogical even after a cup of coffee.
I don't know whether to be stupefied or insulted.

I think I'd need a cup of whiskey to swallow that!
I've seen lots of changes. What doesn't change is people. Same old hairless apes.
Paper ballots counted by hand publicly.
Otherwise, electronic counters can be rigged--um, hacked--and small groups of bipartisan observers in key areas can be bought. We now have TV and the internet. There is no reason for any lack of transparency in the counting. The most recent election proved we can live without determining national election winners before the polls on the West Coast close.
Look at us, solving this before an expensive bipartisan commission chews through bundles of tax dollars, only to come up with a pile of nonsense findings and conclusions.
The goal is to capture the process. Not make it independent.
Hasn't the process already been captured?
Per Sane Progressive, the Department of Homeland Security now has full authority over every aspect of a presidential election, from the premises, booths, and fixtures, personel and records, to the vote counting and probably more. Try this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FN-cYCjAAXI
But of course perhaps even the DHS can be purchased if the sale is blacked out.
State law still decides a lot and I feel we MAY be able to
impact state legislatures more than we will ever be able to influence the US Congress. Everything is relative, as they say. Also, a clean vote is a very difficult thing for any politician to oppose.
The danger here, IMO, is that this commission will federalize elections even further. Then, we have zero hope of having a say.

Good and bad news about Her
Why Hillary Clinton Is Really Unpopular – Again
It doesn't matter what reason people gave for not like Her, it still all comes down to the reason why people don't like Her is because they are sexist, misogynistic assholes who just don't like powerful women.
Geebus, when I first heard Her speak back in 2006, I thought that she was a very intelligent woman and admired her.
But then I read about her policy view points especially her foreign policy ones and read about what happened to families after Her and Bill pushed for welfare reform and the crime bill.
Then I watched as she went from the preferred candidate in 2008 to the biggest whiner and creepy spreader of lies about Obama because people like him more.
Funny how no one blamed sexism or misogyny for her loss back then, isn't it?
When she announced that she was running again, my mind was already made up. She would be a horrible candidate because she stood for everything that I stood against.
Especially, unending war, misery and death for people that were no threat to me or this country. No the reason they had to die was because Hillary, Obama and a bunch of bloodthirsty neocons pronounced that they should.
This was enough for me to do everything I could to keep her and her husband out of the White House. They did enough damage their first run.
Funny isn't it? People have a problem with the way Trump sees women, but one rarely hears about Bill's escapades with woman after woman after woman...........................
especially the women that he met at Jeff Epstein's (the registered sex offender because he had sex with under-aged girls)parties in his New York home and on his private jet that was flying men out to his private island that was stocked with women and girls (boys?)>
Both men are perverts and neither should be seen in the light of day or the dark of night. But then, we know that money can buy influence as well as affluence, but it can never buy class.
Scientists are concerned that conspiracy theories may die out if they keep coming true at the current alarming rate.
Bill's escapades.
Talk about (pardon me, this always riles me up) fucking misogyny.
Yet one in about 3,000 other reasons I twice did not, nor would ever, vote for Her.
Here's an early case where they tagteam

@snoopydawg Let me post an addendum
A noun, a verb, the proper noun Hillary, and sexist.

Funny if you like end of days irony.
So two failed party hacks are going to lead a group of military and intelligence officials from the deep state so they could basically stop those evil Russians? Yah sure. They will come up with secret super duper techniques to prevent technical idiots like Podesta from falling for simple phishing attempts? Which yes, a fat guy on his bed could easily implement. It would not surprise me if the project recommends putting election machines under the protection and purvey of the deep state intelligence agencies.
After working many an election, who exactly is going to this stop the real cheating--which is from people inside the system. Gonna stop caging or state officials from expunging legitimate voters from the rolls? Is this going to stop democrats who during the primaries changed party affiliation of potential independent Bernie voters so they couldn't vote in the primaries? They going to stop fractional voting?
This group of patriots will not touch anything which prevents partisans from either party from being able to cheat in their areas of control.
Just as a side point. The gop establishment will I predict seriously look at how the democrats cheated Sanders so they could control their own primaries. The tea party was able to knock off some highly visible incumbents in primaries, and would have been good to have the cheating down to prevent Trump from winning.
To your last point
Good comment, Btw.
