(Irony alert!)!Democrats Are Launching a Commission to Protect American Democracy From Trump

All I can say about this is after I quit laughing I thought "do these stupid shits think that we've forgotten their defense against the lawsuit currently in the court against THE DNC for lying and cheating"?

In their minds they really do believe that anyone that doesn't think like they do needs to STFU because we OWE our money and our votes to the candidate of their choice. In the event we get a little frisky and start thinking we have some say in the matter, the DNC has the right to cheat and lie and do what they always accuse the other side of doing, rig the outcome.

Democrats Are Launching a Commission to Protect American Democracy From Trump
In response to Trump’s “election integrity” commission, the DNC is going on offense on voting rights.

counteract the Trump administration’s “election integrity” commission, the Democratic National Committee is launching a new Commission on Protecting American Democracy from the Trump Administration. While the Trump commission plans to focus on so-called “fraudulent voting,” the DNC says its commission will debunk the myth that voter fraud is widespread, document the impact of voter suppression efforts in the 2016 election, and propose solutions to expand voting rights.

Trump’s commission is “part of the continuing dissemination of alternative facts,” DNC Chair Tom Perez says. “The commission itself is fraudulent, in the sense that voter fraud is a virtually non-existent phenomenon in this country.” Perez calls it “nothing but a sham to justify the GOP’s voter suppression efforts across the country…. Our commission will be ready to counter every move that the Trump administration makes to silence eligible voters. We simply cannot trust Trump, Jeff Sessions, or anyone in this administration to protect the integrity of our democracy.”

Former Missouri secretary of state Jason Kander, president of Let America Vote, will chair the DNC commission, and Alabama Representative Terri Sewell, who represents Selma and Birmingham, will be the vice chair. The other members will be New Jersey Senator Cory Booker, Texas Representative Joaquin Castro, Colorado House Speaker Crisanta Duran, Maricopa County Recorder Adrian Fontes, Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes, Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey, New York Representative Grace Meng, Wisconsin Representative Gwen Moore, California Secretary of State Alex Padilla, DNC Vice Chair Karen Carter Peterson, and District of Columbia Attorney General Karl Racine.

The commission is part of the DNC’s new Voter Protection and Empowerment Unit, which represents the party’s most ambitious effort to safeguard voting rights. “With the relentless attacks on voting rights that have become a staple in the playbook of the Republican Party, it’s absolutely imperative to develop a robust and permanent infrastructure within the Democratic Party for voter protection and empowerment,” Perez says.

It's the highlighted part in the last paragraph that set off the giggles. Is Perez that dishonest? (That was a rhetorical question) Or is it like I expect, they think we're all brain dead stupid?

The Dem establishment folks seem to have one track minds. They got on that track 35 years ago and are still clanking along on the same old track, unable to see or do anything else. Amazing mental and emotional rigidity.

It's their Achilles heel, though. They will defeat themselves by their inability to change or even to see what's going on around them. Left behind in the dust(bin) of history.

I'm with you. I had to stop laughing at the DNC saying that they are going to protect American democracy. From Trump. Who is going to save it from them?
What was their role in changing people's party affiliation and kicking people off the voting rolls so they couldn't vote in the primary?

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

Biden slams Dems for silence on the middle class at a campaign rally on Sunday for Democrat Phil Murphy in New Jersey. Because of the negative campaign that [President Donald] Trump ran, how much did we hear about that guy making 50,000 bucks on an assembly line, [and] the woman — his wife — making $28,000 as a hostess?" Biden asked a crowd of 1,200 at a campaign rally here.

"They have $78,000, two kids, [are] living in a metropolitan area, and they can hardly make it," he said. "When was the last time you heard us talk about those people?"
All I can say is glad you're in touch Uncle Joe. (snark)

@pro left

that guy making 50,000 bucks on an assembly line

Where, outside his imagination, does anybody make $50K on an assembly line?

@PhilK

it was possible while working for the Big 3 auto companies to make $50K if you were willing to put in enough overtime. Some of my friends did that, but they had no life outside the 60 hours a week spent working on the line.

The DNC is a private organization, so they're allowed to do all sorts of backroom deals while maintaining the illusion of democracy.

(Snark, of course, but I have to admit, I'd love to see someone turn the DNC's arguments against them regarding this.)
