Kim Dot Com Statement on Seth Rich Posted
The latest Kim Dotcom tweet posted around 1:00 PM EDT. It directs you to the kim.com website, where if you scroll down you can read his statement regarding Seth Rich:
I know that Setch Rich was involved in the DNC leak.I know this because in late 2014 a person contacted me about helping me to start a branch of the Internet Party in the United States. He called himself Panda. I now know that Panda was Seth Rich.
Panda advised me that he was working on voter analytics tools and other technologies that the Internet Party may find helpful.
I communicated with Panda on a number of topics including corruption and the influence of corporate money in politics.
“He wanted to change that from the inside.”
I was referring to what I knew when I did an interview with Bloomberg in New Zealand in May 2015. In that interview I hinted that Julian Assange and Wikileaks would release information about Hillary Clinton in the upcoming election.
The Rich family has reached out to me to ask that I be sensitive to their loss in my public comments. That request is entirely reasonable.
I have consulted with my lawyers. I accept that my full statement should be provided to the authorities and I am prepared to do that so that there can be a full investigation. My lawyers will speak with the authorities regarding the proper process.
If my evidence is required to be given in the United States I would be prepared to do so if appropriate arrangements are made. I would need a guarantee from Special Counsel Mueller, on behalf of the United States, of safe passage from New Zealand to the United States and back. In the coming days we will be communicating with the appropriate authorities to make the necessary arrangements. In the meantime, I will make no further comment.

Congrats! I lack your moral strength and stopped at 15 seconds.
So, whadda ya think: brainwashing, body-snatching, maybe favorite relatives held in Gitmo?
He's a sickening parody of the voice for truth and justice he used to appear to be, back when he was worth listening to. Now, I just can't...
Edit:
Can't they KEEP them there? It's like watching Flipper eat screaming children on after-school TV... although I think you may be onto something with the Mad Cow thing.

That goes for Rachel too
I turned her off after Obama became president because she didn't go after him for doing the same things that Bush did with the war on terror.
If invading countries on false pretenses when a republican president did that, then it's just as wrong when a democratic president does the same things.
I listened to her when she was on Air America and her life during war time was spot on. Things changed after she was called to go to the WH and got her marching orders.
I have to stay away from my uncle's house during the time she is on because he thinks that she can do no wrong.
That was when I started exiting TOP too...

@snoopydawg
Dear gawd, it's an epidemic, isn't it? I used to like her and listen to her all the time, back when she was worth hearing and not an unfunny parody of what propagandists imagine progressive news to be like.
But this certainly explains only she survived the progressive purge there, evidently being the only one either willing to undergo brainwashing or to swallow the wrong-colour pill for massive increments of those proverbial 6 pieces of silver.
(Scared me when the site was down just now - worried that it'd been censored out of existence as a progressive voice.)

Wonder what the appeal was supposed to be to the watchers in the story-line? Betting on which leg got swallowed first, in the event of anything going wrong?
I don't see any of the politicians 'jumping the shark' ever placed at any real risk of landing in a 'bin' with the other sharks feeding off the public, even if people are no longer interested in paying their salaries to watch their antics... need a cannon, rather than a water-ski set-up, to fire them off.

I'm also disappointed.
I was disappointed too
I personally believe he is on the up and up due to the tweets I have read lately from Julian Assange.
The problem here is that the Obama administration has wanted him extradicted to the US on charges of piracy of copyrighted materials through his website Megauploads. If he was convicted in the US, he could spend the rest of his life in prison.

He hasn't really told us much more than he told us last week,
except that the family contacted him and this stuff
What strikes me odd/fishy: Apparently, he has lawyers he calls regularly, is used to dealing with them and knew he needed legal advice about this matter. So, why put out a statement a few days ago saying you are going to say more after you talk to your lawyers? Why not call your lawyers before you put out any statement? That's why people usually do when they realize that what they say about something could land them in the soup.
Also: https://caucus99percent.com/content/kim-dot-com-statement-seth-rich-post...
I did see him raise somewhere something I wondered about when I first heard of this, namely, public and private cameras.
When the hunt was on for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, I was in one of the 7 cities where people were asked to stay indoors. However, I wanted to go for lunch. The building super told me how many public cameras I would pass in six blocks.Dotcom apparently knows where the public cameras were that Rich would have passed on his way home and asks where the film is. And that's not counting private security cameras. If you remember the reporting about the marathon bombing, law enforcement was able to track the brothers movements near the route on both public and private cameras.
the police
And why is the DNC going to such lengths to suppress this story? This includes Donna Brazille calling the detective and telling him to get off the case. There are far too many things that do not add up.
Do I hear the sound of guillotines being constructed?

I very much agree. This was not a botched robbery.
What would botch an armed robbery of an unarmed man at 4:30 in the morning if there were no witnesses? Did a bird chirp and startle the robber, who then inexplicably shot Rich before fleeing? If there were any witnesses, why no interest in the reward money offered for clues? I also find it somewhat odd that Rich took a several hour walk alone around a city like D.C. at that hour of the morning.
However, let's assume for a second that it was a botched robbery. So what? It was still a murder. Where's the footage? Where's the investigation? Where are the pleas from the police begging anyone who might have seen anything to say what they saw, even anonymously? Why did the family have to start a gofundme account to investigate the murder? And why is a Dem operative controlling the narrative of the investigation?
All that, however, is a separate issue from dotcom's claims.
P.S. Although this is WAPO, it's not a bad story. https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/style/seth-rich-wasnt-just-anot...
In the story, there is an indication that the father feels that Rich is being accused of helping out Russia. If, however, Rich did this, it would exonerate Russia, not make Rich complicit with Russia. So, I'm back to asking, why is a Dem operative controlling the narrative?
@HenryAWallace
Also - did he bring that lap-top said to have been found with him out to the bar and carry it during a lengthy walk, or pick up wherever he went to during those mystery hours?

I'm going with Julian - he's done everything but admit that it was Seth by name and now he's evidently backing Kim on this as a participant. Justice must be done, must be seen to be done - and it would be about freaking time that it was done.
Edit: just watched the video: do think Kim should leave a signed deposition in 16 secret places before flying anywhere... and make damn certain that this is known.

The US has already tried to get him extradited
There's a video of the police raiding his home on his website. And they have confiscated his money and some of his toys.
They went after him for pirating movies and music.
There's more details on his website about this.
Doubtful.
Doubtful. The evidence will need to be given in the United States; and I assure you that no such safe-conduct as Dotcom demands will be forthcoming.

Even if promises of safe passage to and from USA
They can interview him by phone or skype, even by email,
ironically.
At this stage, they probably don't need him to be sworn, but he could be. They could swear him and have a video made. I've seen that when people make a will, so that, if the will is challenged in court, people viewing the video can see the demeanor, etc. and judge for themselves if the person was of sound mind, under duress, etc.
Would the U.S. even want to investigate?

Yes exactly

@dervish
I personally suspect that they're more concerned with being able to nuke countries capable being able to withstand conventional attack/invasion, in accordance with their paymaster's wishes, than with winning elections. Certainly seems to be the case, at any rate. The Big Lie gets them the Big Bucks from the MIC, financial industry and other profiting from this sort of thing, quite apart from the distraction aspect. They do tend to multi-task against the public interest, don't they?

They can't nuke anybody
Nuclear war contains multiple redundancies, and there are never any winners.
"Obama promised transparency, but Assange is the one who brought it."
@dervish
I know that, and you know that, because a lot of experts know that - but do they? These are not reality-based/sane people and seem to think that their walls of money can insulate them from anything, as the very suggestion of 'limited nuclear war' being survivable for them, specifically, (must have been watching those ludicrous old propaganda films/reading war-propaganda-informed science fiction) would seem to indicate - but I certainly hope that you're right about it not coming to that.
However, multiple other countries being actively threatened or aware that they're on an attack/invasion list will be on a hair-trigger, and one or another of these insane attacks upon other people's countries will sooner or later unleash their last-ditch efforts, if they feel that they're going down anyway. People kept under constant threat by a powerful bully are very likely to at least try to take the bully down with them, when it seems inevitable that the threats will be fulfilled. And there's a very long list, at least some of which do have 'stand-off' nukes intended to balance such threats, even if Iran, rather ironically, does not.

@thanatokephaloides
Unfortunately, the Russia!!! nonsense is being propagated all over corporate media, despite it being a known lie, and accompanied by further lies. Even once publicly disproven, such propaganda campaigns continue to endlessly repeat the Big Lies because they know that even some of those who know better will begin to accept and repeat the Big Lies as well.
Think of the 'Bernie Bro Chair-throwing' claim, one newspaper even used an online video disproving it, showing that one person had picked up but not thrown a chair and been easily talked out of it before bursting into tears - but claiming that it showed real 'Bernie Bro' violence. Watching the last illusion of a functioning democracy being yanked away before your eyes gets people upset - who'da guessed?
But some people claim to have watched it and actually seen chair-throwing, although they may simply have been Correcting The Record and 'helping' people to not bother watching it themselves and taking their word for it. Rather like trusting the corporate media mouth who claimed on TV that it was illegal for the public to read Wikileaks and that they should let the corporate media 'inform' them of what to believe.

It certainly is.
And that narrative is somehow swallowed by Americans on far less material evidence than the Seth Rich explanation. The complete lack of real world logic in the Russian boogyman scenario, not withstanding, if there were an intelligent neutral view, it wouldn't be looking toward Russia at all. With a lifetime of conditioning under their cerebrums, the American people should be more inoculated. The authorities have always lied to them, with devastating results.
In a logical universe, the DNC would be the loudest voice crying for an investigation to find out who murdered not just any staffer, but their key voting-behavior analyst. They would want to know this information with an even greater intensity than the general public.
I have personally seen no real evidence in either case, but the degrees of separation are much closer when fellow citizens are the sensing witnesses, rather than counter-intelligence agents getting paid to do the sensing for me. One thing I would like to know is which election year in the past thirty years, have the US and Russia not spied on each other and attempted to influence each other's elections? I want to know how 2016 is different, in principle, than any other election year. I want to see that one election without an October surprise or the manufactured undermining of one candidate or the other, generated by useful idiots among the citizens. This is the cynical truth for politics in both Russia and the US. Fear and loathing are the emotions that exemplify a "normal" election in my view (and in Hunter S. Thompson's). Approximately one-half of the population will be absolutely horrified by the voting outcome. I want to see the "good" election, the exception that establishes some sort of range or spectrum that suddenly allows us to cry wolf and act crazy.
Instead, we are presented with this evdence:
Crowdstrike is straight up CIA
"Obama promised transparency, but Assange is the one who brought it."
The security state needs to keep a safe distance
for plausible deniability when the whole thing collapses in on itself.
The entire charade, "Russia hacked American democracy", stands on extremely swampy ground. After almost a year of investigation, there is still no definitive proof. The only thing that has been offered are 'assessments' by fucking hand picked operatives. Of the 4 agencies involved, the one assessment that matters the most, the NSA, only gives it a 'moderate' rating. Same old, same old Team B shit that got us into Vietnam and Iraq.
It would be interesting to hear complete, unbiased assessments from the rank and file members.
Good Summary
"One thing I would like to know is which election year in the past thirty years, have the US and Russia not spied on each other and attempted to influence each other's elections?"
I'd imagine it goes even farther back than that, at least to JFK or before.
Someone the other day was trying to make a point supporting the RUSSIA story saying that "it sounds like something they would do" therefore, they should be a prime suspect. My first thought was, it also sounds like something the US would do, and has done, so is America a suspect too?

@dkmich He clearly wants
It makes him look like he didn't properly reckon the risk before jumping out in front of God and everybody and making that announcement, which makes him look lame. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure this isn't an attempt at doubt manufacturing/discrediting. If it were, if Kim were working for the establishment to sow doubt, he would have made a splash with some flashy and superficially attractive claims that would have then been disproved. Think Pizzagate.
The truth is that this statement in no way detracts from the possibility that Seth Rich was murdered for political reasons; nor does it support the Russia narrative. What it does do is make Kim.com look lameass and a bit cowardly for stepping out, then quickly going "oh shit, there's snipers out there! I'd better step back."
That damages his reputation, but not in the sense of making him a liar.

@Cant Stop the Macedonian Signal
Well, they've also discredited the concepts of democracy and of the US Constitution and of human rights generally of being anything but unicorn pipe-dreams or, in the case of the Constitution they were supposed to swear on rather than at, 'a piece of paper' which they keep on a bathroom roll for shits and giggles...
Do hope that's one's not true, but the raping of children in US torture centres is a known thing, and the Bush Admin got pictures to look at of the homosexual degradation inflicted upon Gitmo prisoners forced to lie in naked heaps and undoubtedly do don't-want-to-know-what to amuse their kidnappers and the Bush Admin.
Remember the female military member at Gitmo who got dressed-up as a Dominatrix to put naked prisoners on a leash and make them crawl over the cement between the cells for photos?
These are very, very sick people - now with much publicized adoring and recycling of warmonger, democracy-destroying, human-rights-trashing Bush and the others on the corporate Dem side. I'd put nothing past them.

Dear gawd, I remember reading enough of that to have nightmares forever, which didn't take much reading.
I wish people would stop calling such as these the 'elite' - they are not elite, they are psychopaths and do not merit flattering titles in support of their typically psychopathic pretentions to being 'above law and morality' but to be kept somewhere that they can harm no-one and nothing.

@Alligator Ed OK, I'm clearly
I don't know for sure what's behind the Pizzagate story, but if I were a journalist, I'd still be pursuing the story, and if I were a detective, I'd still be investigating the case.
However, like people's doubts about 9/11, this story has been successfully discredited and thrown in the trash bin, and only people like us will ever discuss it, unlike the story of the Clinton Foundation, or the story of Seth Rich's murder, which are trending in the opposite direction. Which is why I expect to see marketing deployed for the purposes of discrediting the latter (it may be too late to discredit the former--I think the idea that Hillary sold access to herself and possibly also American foreign policy itself in exchange for big donations to her family's private foundation has sunk in too deep to be dislodged.)

As a person who doubted
the likelihood of Kim Dotcom's credibility about Seth Rich and Wikileaks, I find his statement today reassuring that he is acting in good faith. The fact that he announced he had information about the case before consulting his lawyers seemed wise to me. If he had consulted his lawyers without first going public, and if arrangements had been made for him to testify, the possibility of his being killed before any of his information became public existed. Now, if anything happens to him, there will be a connection to Seth Rich. This is a murder case after all.

Would Julian Assange have been indirectly backing Kim, as indicated by the tweet, if there was nothing to this?

Good question.

Has Glen Greenwald commented on the latest KimDotcom activities?
@ all the C99p community
I feel completely overwhelmed and unable to come to any conclusions in my mind that allow me to comment or judge. This rings a bell with me:
I just talk, because I want to remove all doubt ... about myself.
Peace.

@mimi
Hi and sorry, mimi, I've been off following other links and haven't seen anything from Greenwald, but yeah, I should be checking him out on this.
Too groggy right now, though, so will have to remember tomorrow, if no-one else on here has posted where I see, and thanks for the suggestion, which really should have occurred to me. So much to read on here, with all of the excellent writers/commentary, and elsewhere, as well, lol.
Edit: we can't begin to judge (nor do we ever have to, as onlookers,) until we get the evidence - but where evidence is officially unwelcome, sometimes it's helpful to compile what's verifiable so far, what's thought to be likely and what seems to make sense so that we can pick holes in each other's theories - as well as in improbable official stories and those coming in from others who may or may not know more than we and who may or may not be trying to confuse the issue.
Living in a propaganda-mill makes any attempt at finding truth a difficult labour of love, divided by numerous reservations, lol. We just need to keep that salt-shaker in grabbing distance.

@Ellen North Apparently I was very
On the other hand, I'm pretty sure this isn't an attempt at doubt manufacturing/discrediting. If it were, if Kim were working for the establishment to sow doubt, he would have made a splash with some flashy and superficially attractive claims that would have then been disproved.
I meant there IS something to this story, not that there isn't. That's why my first response was, "So far, so good."
I do believe Kim Dotcom has something; I don't know whether he'll have the moxy to ever reveal it; I don't know what he will do if the authorities simply ignore him, as they have Craig Murray; I don't believe he'll ever get a safe-conduct here and back and I'm not sure I'd trust it if he did; and, like Sane Progressive, I note that we already have evidence of Clinton crimes and our legal justice system has done backflips and twisted themselves into rhetorical pretzels trying not to prosecute them.

Personally, I'd look at it more like someone negotiating with snipers, willing to risk undergoing a hail of bullets but preferring to avoid it.
He did come out with the claim, which was (assuming that it's provable) important, but there's no sense in having your head blown off, if avoidable, especially if without even achieving anything because your evidence has been seized and destroyed/'lost'.
Perhaps as with the laptop found with Seth, the film from all 3 attending police body cameras being apparently 'not available to media' and since claimed as 'missing', as - since none of this/information being provided from any of these has been so far mentioned anywhere as accessed by media/public - may apparently also be missing is the film from however many street cameras which may have picked anything up related to the incident and possibly also the data shown by their digital ShotSpotter audio surveillance system, which not only provides police with the area in which a gunshot has just originated, but which is said to be capable of providing other information as well, helpful to any investigation which is actually carried out. Quite a co-incidence that:
http://bigleaguepolitics.com/seth-rich-case-john-podestas-ex-sister-law-...
Was it coincidental that '... Metropolitan Police Chief Cathy Lanier, who served as police chief when DNC staffer and widely-reported WikiLeaks source Seth Rich was murdered in July 2016 ... stepped down as police chief the next month. ...' following the murder?
The rest of the short article is also interesting, including: the media being prohibited from access to police body-cam footage and what sounds like a possible attempt to cover over initial mention of the police who were in attendance at the crime scene claiming to have heard the gunshots - placing them in the vicinity at the time of the shooting - later altered to an alert from the ShotSpotter leading them there.
Funny that DC, home of 'democracy', would have a corporate/DC power broker-controlled Police Foundation Board... potentially handy for sweeping messes under the table, though, no doubt.
It sounds pretty innocuous, as described below, and may well be. But if, as it appears, it's not the union, who was going over the police chief's head in arbitration to force the reinstatement of fired officers?*
http://www.dcpolicefoundation.org/support.html
I expect that they've done a lot of good, but you'll have to pardon me if I've become a little suspicious of Foundations in any way connected with Washington corruption, especially when having a DNC/Hillary/Podesta-linked power-broker on a corporate-filled Board serving local Washington DC police with resource assistance, with the police chief who brought in the police body-cams* resigning a month after a murder having thoroughly 'botched' murder-scene evidence integrity, along with apparent murder non-investigation and oddities such as police taking and retaining the murder-unrelated laptop of a 'botched robbery' murder victim working for the DNC who appears to have been a leaker of evidence of their corruption, with Podesta - the ex-brother-in-law of the power-broker Police Foundation Board member - who's on published email record as speaking of making an example of a suspected leaker, even if without proof - and the police seemingly not knowing where the heck the lap-top got to, taken and retained although of no interest in a 'botched robbery' shot-in-the-back-and-nothing-taken case evidently not-being-investigated - if potentially bearing a great deal of interest to the DNC, the Clintons and Podesta.
The more information one gets, the more the whole pile smells.

@Ellen North
this is what my German teacher in highschool would have called ... a 'Bandwurm = tapeworm' sentence (a sentence that never ends). Please have mercy with us non-native little people readers here.
I read from Germany and our time is a quarter to nine o'clock in the morning. It's tough to follow the threads, when reading half of it (at my time late at night) and the rest. when it's in the middle of night at your time.(if you are at EST time).
Anyhow: in my imagination a radio trottoir whisper is seducing me and nags my ears ... May be "some people" were a bit upset that the person, who shot at Seth Rich, didn't kill him straight on the spot and right away with his bullets. Then the whole shebang that followed at the hospital (as mentioned in the comment by Linda Wood with the transcript of this article would seem to be plausible.
Oh, well, I also see in front of my eyes the great next polit-crime-psycho Hollywood movie coming out in the future, which then will be the base of all "source material" for future generations.
It's really hard to read, listen and watch all of it. Thanks for the comment and links.
Peace.

mimi, I think you have the crux
Hold on to today later and tomorrow for more updates (and gist for you!).

Sorry, mimi! I really should have placed the various points on different lines... I was trying to set up the flow of details, not drown anyone in them!
Edited as - just to vary things - I failed to press the spacer hard enough between two words, lol. Strangely appropriate! And again, regarding a missing 's', so removed the pile of names at top, which get annoying once over two.

Also, if he in fact has evidence that could be used in
prosecution of a crime, dumping it on the internet is unlikely to help the legal case.

One last thing, before I stop talking about this:
the real question is what, if anything, he will do if the authorities refuse to act. Which I believe they will.

The family appears to be background deniers
Which they may be, or they may have been threatened in some way so that they just want it all to go away. I can actually understand some evidence-holders giving slight pause now to see if they come around. But yes, this story may be buried under 6' of dirt.

One of Japanese film director Akira Kurosawa’s works is named
The Bad Sleep Well (1960).
When I saw it as a high-school student I came away shocked that corporate criminals in Japan — and not only in Japan — are able to lead press, public, and organs of the state around by the nose.
Great film btw

Good.

I think the statement should
I think the statement should be made, given to the attorneys to present to see if it has evidenciary value. It may, it may not. Once the statement is drafted, Kim probably ought to release one of those insurance hashes as Assange has done in the past. The existence of such a statement has value, whatever the contents. People will want to see if.
