Rex Tillerson Exxon CEO and next SoS.

"OMG - another pal of Russia" will be all the corporate press can say. That is because they bury the real story.

The CEO of the world's largest corporation is now in charge of our foreign policy. The folks most responsible for climate change and denial now run the show on a global scale. The folks responsible for our misguided foreign policy in the middle east will now be in charge. I think that a bevy of generals and the CEO of Exxon lay bare the truth about our country - only Trump would be so blatant in front of our gullible sheeple. He knows Americans will be all in favor of bombing the shit out of the "muslim-east". Bigots and corporations in the USA and Russia will rejoice, as will the MIC.

We are fucked, but at least Trump doesn't bother to pretend otherwise - he knows the corporate press will never offend their corporate advertisers by telling the sheeple the truth.

at every nomination. After he named Sessions, our idiot senator, as AG, I knew he wanted to make amerika like alabama.

At least there is an ugly face we can all oppose (as opposed to ignoring the evils of the dems).

“Until justice rolls down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream.”

Most politicians would try to be more subtle, but the American sheeple are so easily manipulated by fear and hatred that they won't even notice. Instead we will talk about Russia, Clinton, the CIA, Rex's admirable business experience as a CEO, etc.

What we won't hear discussed are, global warming, middle east oil, foreign policy, the MIC, and AIPAC.

could have failed to notice that our foreign policy is already driven by the oil companies. Who cares if they're doing it in the open or semi-covertly?

Instead of running down the pier with your head between your hands like the idjit in Munch's scream painting try to understand that we are still on the same path we've been on awhile. Oil runs everything. Under Obama we nearly reached the around 10 million barrels a day peak that we hit in the early 70's. Fracking and dirty tar sands put us nearly at peak production. Both have relatively bad EROEI and they are dirty as Trumps brain. We use 18 million barrels a day in the United States. Democrats, progressive, left wing people have to come to terms with this, and get out of their techno utopian mind set. YES we NEED to Transition and we are going too. Nothing will stop green energy, it's too possible, getting cheaper all time and will eventually replace oil, coal, natural gas in many areas. For now however the whole economy is based on carbon. That's why the appointment of Tillerson makes sense to the oil fiends. As much as I understand and support the water protectors, you must realize that Native American tribes pump and sell a lot of oil in the Dakotas. This no doubt causes a certain amount of cognitive a dissonance. We are in an extremely complicated situation and just being pure and against pipelines, drilling, and fracking will not win elections. Frankly it's delusional about the world in front of us. Here is Derrick Jensen's first Endgame premise if it give you any solace.
"Civilization is unsustainable, particularly industrial civilization."

The only questions are how awful will the crash be and when will the shit hit the fan.

This is their rank by profit for 2015. Look for that to go back up to the top.

9. Exxon Mobil
Fortune 500 Rank: No. 2
2015 Profits: $16.2 billion

In spite of a 50% year-over-year plunge in profits, the energy giant remains one of America’s most profitable companies. Even as Exxon xom has been hit by the worst oil glut to hit the industry in decades, the company dialed back its capital and exploration spending by $7.4 billion. The gas industry heavyweight gleaned $16.2 billion in earnings over 2015.

"techno utopian mindset."

Nothing will stop green energy
--well, they don't need to stop it, they just need to slow it until the collapse is inevitable. I think they're doing a fairly good job of that. Slow it and marginalize it. They've done a great job of just that for 35 years. As for things being cheap or expensive, all I can say is, capitalism ain't what you think it is if you think some intrinsic cheapness is going to get in the way of keeping the current elite in their current position.

You must realize Native American tribes pump and sell a lot of oil in the Dakotas
--so what? I pump oil products into my car. I do so because the economy is organized so that doing anything else is extremely difficult. I have a hybrid, so I pump less, but we all know how much that's worth. Maybe some people support the water protectors because they think they're pure perfect saints who have never used fossil fuels in their lives, or something, but to me their morality lies in their fighting for their lives and for the truth, not for some cleanliness that comes from never having been besmirched by a fossil fuel economy.

We are in an extremely complicated situation--OK, in the sense that re-tooling any large complex economy is complicated. Nonetheless, we've done it successfully many times, both in terms of energy production and other kinds of production. We're in the middle of one such re-tooling right now (1994-2008 was the first phase of it; we moved most of the manufacturing out of the country, deregulated the financial sector, etc.) We're coming up on another really massive retooling later this century; the only question is what it's going to look like.

Just being pure and against pipelines, drilling, and fracking will not win elections--but who the fuck cares about elections if we're facing a future of multiple simultaneous crop failures, food riots, water riots, food wars, water wars, and a massive die-off of up to 80% of all things living on earth? Also, I wouldn't say that the problem with the people who lost the most recent election was that they were against pipelines, drilling, and fracking. It's not like voters were incensed that Sanders was against fracking, or that 70% of the electorate knew who Jill Stein was and opposed her b/c they love fossil fuels.

Frankly it's delusional about the world in front of us
--well, since you end with that Jensen quote, I guess your point of view is all is lost anyway, so why try to build a sustainable civilization? If that's not what you mean by "delusional," I don't know what you could mean, because obviously it's not delusional to think that the world could run on something other than fossil fuels. It has before, and if a fuel were found that provided the same imperial power and high profits as fossil fuels, watch how fast it would become "possible."

eliminate the middleman.

That should probably be the Trump Administration's slogan.

Horrible, but still better than Hillary's:

on all that sucks in our economy and public policy. Having another oil man get top billing in the Trump cabinet is no surprise. At a time when OPEC is finally getting their shit together to limit supply and raise prices, we will be relying more and more on fossil fuels.

I also expect a roll back of the investment tax credit and net metering requirements for solar. This will effectively kill the industry and prevent any further development of renewables.

It remains to be seen how we will recover the 200 billion + that will be lost from the corporate tax cut. My guess is in year 1, it will be plowed into the deficit which Republicans are so good at growing. After that we won't be able to afford entitlements so a cut in SS and medicare will follow.
