and now I have an unhappy gall bladder. And the surgeon refused to remove said bladder plus stone because it was only one attack, three ago. I have a bad liver, that was his excuse. Try again. I would like to eat again. Yes, I am whining online. Another old lady whining. What have I become?

PriceRip's picture

Several years ago hypertension (> 200 / 100) drove me to cut back on, well, everything. I was virtually vegan, hence my gall bladder had virtually nothing to do.

A couple of years ago, I had what seemed to be a severe angina attack. As the med tech was doing the ultrasound routine, she said, incredulously, "I can't find it !". I asked, "What ?" It turns out she could not find one of the standard "mile posts" the gall bladder.

My radical shift in diet had allow my gall bladder to waste away to virtually nothing before generating any noticeable symptoms. The punch line: My still very concerned (Dr House like) cardiologist stopped by my room and out of curiosity performed a nystagmus test. He looked crestfallen as he muttered "vestibular migraines" and wandered off, no longer interested in my case.

Funniest comic routine ever . . . I wish I had a video of it all. So instead of angina, and minor strokes all these years, I have been experiencing vestibular migraine attacks. So, they removed the "sludge and rocks" and sent me on my way. And, I now carry a card (in case I ever get pulled over) explaining why a field sobriety test doesn't work.

          Ain't life a hoot.

In Kyle Harshbarger's criminal justice procedures class we all did the "traffic stop" routine. It was funny how poorly I did, I wonder what the students really thought as I failed those tests. At least it gave Kyle the opportunity to explain the importance of proper procedures.

Democrats 30 year commitment to neoliberalism brought this on. We'll lose everything progressives created for this country, from all FDR's achievements to the gains of the Civil Rights era. What had neoliberalism brought us? Mass incarceration, Wall Street deregulation, big pharma and insurance company blessed "healthcare." And now, the DNC's successful effort to shove the symbol embodiment of that type of Democratic candidate at a time when the public had shown it was beyond the breaking point, gave the Right the populist energy. Roe v Wade will be killed. The planets last chance is gone. Medicare and Social Security will go. Labor protections will go. And so much more. All because the damned party demanded fealty to Third Way crap.

Nope. You had a candidate that would preserve the social safety net and one who would destroy it, destroy the environment, and destroy our democracy. The choice was clear.

They are refusing to understand the mood that this country was in and why people preferred Bernie's and Donald's message over Hillary's.
The damage that Bill did is still rippling through the country.
From the rules in welfare reform that saw thousands of people get kicked off food stamps last June, the number of ex felons who can't get public housing because of the crime bill rules to the millions of people who lost their homes because he deregulated the financial institutions to many more issues.
And Hillary was offering them the same damn thing while Bernie and Donald were offering them something different.
Just the fact that she was telling everyone that she was risking a war with Russia so that Saudi Arabia and Qatar could install a pipeline through Syria and they still were going to vote for her is so damn mind boggling.
I wonder how many of them are learning to speak Russia?

I went over to TOP today and had a little fun in a diary by Expat Girl spouting the same insane foolishness that Rachel Maddow was pushing tonight on her show: the Russians stole our ELECTION!!! Apparently, that wild tale was at the top of the day's talking points in DNC land.

My last surviving DK username played along, suggesting we get prepared and posting Youtube's of the 80s version of Red Dawn. This was in response to Expat Girl's assertion that Obama would be active in The Resistance. (I shit you not.) I even managed to post that hilarious rap video of HRC's that MsGrin found and posted here, under the guise of it being an example of the awful interference of the Russkies. Expat Girl ate it up. Recs all around.

There really is little to no hope for the hard core Hillarians. They've moved past the brainwashed line into full-blown Clinton psychosis.

http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/10/how-democrats-killed...

That's an incredible narrative and it should be understood by all Americans, Democrats and those on the Left in particular. That's what they're fighting for over at dKos. Corporate sponsored public policy.

They should be honest with themselves and fess up to being down with that, which is the slippery slope to the status quo and electoral fail, or down with FDR and Wright Patman.

That's the screaming chasm between factions of the Democratic Party.

And maybe what they need to do is to draw out and stratify some factions within the party. The only faction that has any organization and funding is the DLC, whatever moniker make over they're cooking up now...

But purposeful, stratified factions and factional alliances could promote some sort of democratic ideals within the Democratic Party.

The editorial board took a hard turn pro-Hillary (do you agree?) and I am not sending my re-up $$. Also I consider not re-upping to The New Yorker for similar reasons. Plus, I feel guilty paper recycling those two mags and am not organized enough to take them to the local hospital in piles and donate them to floor waiting rooms. I will not be a hoarder. My mother's house has a basement full of New Yorker, Time, National Geographic. Back to the Stone Age. OMG. I would never inflict that on my kids.

Bad enough (mind you--my mother is not dead at 96, just psychotic and finally in a nursing home for $7500/mo. The nursing home staff say she's a card, great stories from the 40's, but she stays awake for 40 hours at a time. They are uncomfortable having her there. As a full-pay resident, mind you. $7500/month does not include laundry or hair-washing. $20 for a hair wash was offered from the on-site beauty salon, they offered to cut off her meager hair which was last cut by her Aunt when she was a child. She had a hairpiece she wore in a bun. Black hair, straight. It still is only vaguely grey. Mine is way more grey, foxy silver tones for me. And no additional color.

See, my sister and I are single women in our 60's. States apart. Two offspring each. Single by death (me) or divorce (she).
She sees our mother daily. I have not seen her in over two years. I have a weird relationship there. I do not Love my mother like my sister does. As our mother told her, I ran away from home (to college, grad school, and semi-permanent NY, yes). When my sister orders me to love our mother as she does I look elsewhere. I was firstborn. The golden child of my parents, who had to be smart and do great science stuff. I sorta did, but now feel resentful. So many other possibilities for a smart girl, I showed promise in many directions (art, theater). Maybe I just blame parents for my shortcomings to my self-image? I am self-analysing myself online to you all (sorry). Anyway, it is what it is. Autumn has turned brown and grey. I am a spring baby and I love the rebirth more than the death of summer. I also suffer from SAD, I get to double my anti-depressant in the waning daylight months.

I got my first haircut in 5 months yesterday, back to a pixie, and looking much more together. But I had to explain to haircutter not to go rough over my head staple scar, still numb there. And a later black eye. Now sliding down over my cheekbone. Public viewings were mostly askance because maybe that was done to me by another. But no, all by myself. No public questioning. Interesting. How does one ask? That might be the Big Leap. How does one ask? It might be a woman or a child. I will have to come up with a questioning line. At hospital they ask if I feel safe at home, a lateral pass. But still being asked that, it's a loaded question and I bristle. Maybe there is no way to do that but by a loaded question. Enough self-reflection on the tubes.

The transformation of Daily Kos from a cogent, powerful, relevant and worthwhile online journal to a total and complete mind-void echo chamber is now complete. It began with replacing the literate and intelligent 4.0 platform with the Facebook-mimicking illiterate 5.0 one, continued through the Ides of March Decree, and has now come to full culmination now that Her Heinous has received the rejection she altogether too well deserved from America's voting public.

With rare exceptions (ZhenRen), everyone with more than one-tenth of a brain who had been on Daily Kos have now migrated to c99p. And no wonder! That shit over there will rot your brain if you're not very careful!

SNIPPET FROM SMOKING HOT POLITICAL JUNKIES

On April 29, 2008 – a period where the campaign between then-candidate Obama and Clinton was anything but foregone – Markos Moulitsas didn’t sit on his lofty perch and plead for party unity. He didn’t halt his own rhetoric to preserve it. He was bashing Clinton:

Clinton going on O’Reilly, at the end of the day, shows she’ll do anything in the pursuit of power . . . It’s an ugly trait.

In a May 2008 story on Slate.com, Moulitsas said of Hillary Clinton,

She’s already ignored and belittled every state and voter demographic that doesn’t support her. So it only follows that since in her world, the only things that are important are things that support her, she’d ignore election results in favor of the one (outdated) poll that confirms her manufactured reality.

On March 15, 2008, Markos Moulitsas, writing for the Washington Post, made the same arguments against Clinton that Bernie supporters are making today:

She is a leader who fails to lead. She does not appear ‘electable’ . . . activists will be demanding the sort of change that can come only from outside the Beltway. Hillary Clinton leads her Democratic rivals in the polls and in fundraising. Unfortunately, however, the New York senator is part of a failed Democratic Party establishment . . . And therein lie Hillary Clinton’s biggest problems. She epitomizes the ‘insider’ label of the early crowd of 2008 Democratic contenders. She’s part of the Clinton machine that decimated the national Democratic Party. And she remains surrounded by many of the old consultants who counsel meekness and caution. […] Afraid to offend, she has limited her policy proposals to minor, symbolic issues—such as co-sponsoring legislation to ban flag burning. She doesn’t have a single memorable policy or legislative accomplishment to her name . . . The last thing we need is yet another Democrat afraid to stand on principle . . . her advisers have stripped what personality she has, hiding it from the public . . . what remains is a heartless, passionless machine, surrounded by the very people who ground down the activist base in the 1990s and have continued to hold the party’s grassroots in utter contempt. The operation is rudderless, without any sign of significant leadership. And to top it off, a sizable number of Democrats don’t think she could win a general election, anyway. Can Hillary Clinton overcome those impediments? . . . we have attractive alternatives to back (and fund) . . . Her obstacles are big, and from this vantage point, possibly insurmountable.

The Clintons bought off everyone that fought them in 08. Everyone.

I have a relative in the Irish civil service that was very senior during the GFA negotiations and got to work closely with the Clintons. They were consummate politicians, able to charm anyone and everyone (almost even some of the Unionists, almost). They never stopped working, even when they arrived on a state visit a few weeks after Bill had to tell HRC the truth about Monica. They apparently had separate exits from the plane for Bill and Hillary/Chelsea and boy could you cut the tension with a knife "it was very fucking clear that Bill was deep in the doghouse!" But it never stopped them working everyone and everything like rainmen.

So no surprise that they spent the last 8 years co-opting all the opponents they knew about.

Trump campaigned on not touching SS and Medicare, one of the things he was consistent on actually.

This is Mr. Ryan's pet project, one that even in the current train wreck congress is unlikely to pass, just 3 ruub senators vote against it and it is done. The policy of privatizing Medicare or Social security is very very unpopular, 80%+ against it, Mr. Ryan also has the problem that he still has a bomb throwing caucus that will vote against anything less then burning to the ground whole-sell.

So, we will see, Mr. Ryan is off the script atm, wait to see what the new congress puts forward as legislation to vote on in January. Mr. Ryan might not even be the speaker, nobody likes him, and plenty would like his job now that they have the reins.

Because Trump campaigned on not touching SS. Paulson and the rest of the previous Clinton administration people flocked to endorse Hillary including the people who wrote PNAC like the Kagan family because they were upset with Obama not being more aggressive in regards to the Syrian war.
50 members of congress wrote him a letter telling him that he needed to be more aggressive in Syria.
He bucked them as much as he could but people like Carter went behind his back and attacked the Syrian troops who had been guarding a town against ISIL. After they killed 60 Syrian troops, ISIL took the town.
I'm not sure how much power the president actually has over the military, but the fact that he didn't do anything to the people who disobeyed his orders weren't punished or fired.
The people who endorsed Hillary were waiting for him to leave office so that they could install the no fly zone after Hillary became president.
I have no idea how or what Trump is going to do regarding the wars in the Middle East, but if he can stop the war with Russia that would be yuge.

I saved my account for this moment and will hammer them until it's over...
It was foolish for people to throw it away in the spring...
The I told you so tour is so much sweeter...

What was your username there? I'll check it and screenshot it for you...

I never instigated anything but only had one HR'd comment. And I was in the Women for Bernie group. I don't know if they delete an account for being inactive for a certain number of months.

But nothing happens if i go to click on my username. That's just as well; it's still a placeholder then. Their mobile site is even shittier than kos 5.0 anyway.

It still shows you as TU with 4 bars of Mojo.

I think if you leave and you are TU, everything stays the same. I stopped posting on June 21st and nothing has changed in my profile. Still TU, still 5 bars of mojo.

I think what happens if you go back and comment, your mojo then drops because you haven't been there for awhile. I still go over there every now and then, sign on, and rec diaries and comments, and I dropped two flags the other day, but I will never comment there again.

I was TU, joined in 1974. And then before/during the edict was a bad girl. Sad to see so many handles I recognize still there. It's like leaving High School to scatter off to college or drudge-work immediately, thing fall apart as well as friendships. Same as IRL. It gets worse when one becomes single by death of spouse. Warning to all, sadly.

There's no way to get to your profile from the mobile site unless you click 'view full site', which is bullshit. Oh well, doesn't really matter now.

I found that I still had TU status. Amazing. They can have it, and my lifetime subscription as well...

Remember one thing, which truly applies over there: if you aren't paying for the product, then _you_ are the product. I don't care to contribute any further content there.

And that reminds me- haven't donated to C99 is a while. I'll go fix that now. This is a product for which I don't mind paying a little bit...

posted at Elect Trump Central (AKA TOP)
and in the aforementioned Diary's comments I found this gem.

'This is not productive.  Even for people like Steven, who have endless free time.'

Now people, is it just my sensitivity toward disability issues or is the jack-hole who posted that gem actually throwing shade at the disabled who can not work? How VERY Republican of them.
I'd trade my 'free time' for their healthy body at the drop of a hat. Hell I'd throw in all my chemo-hair hats for free!

Now if you will imagine me cussing that jack-hole out for 5 minutes straight, using the bluest language I can muster,
THEN and only then, will I have completed the entire message intended by this post.

There are a lot of great points this author wrote, but this one gets to the heart of what Hillary's supporters have been willing to overlook.

In short since 1992, I have watched as you have transformed a current of social thought once rooted in that most basic an necessary human sentiment—empathy—into a badge of cultural and educational superiority. And because feeling good about yourself was much more important to you than actually helping the afflicted, you signed off, in greater or lesser measure to almost all of the life-sapping and dignity-robbing measures of the authoritarian right.
And now you want me to share in your sense of shock and incredulity?
No, thanks, I’ll save my tears for all of the people, ideas and programs you heedlessly abandoned along the road to this day.

I watched as you accommodated yourselves to most of the retrograde social forces you claim to abhor. I have seen you be almost completely silent before the world’s greatest evil, unprovoked war, going so far as to embrace as your presidential candidate this year a person who cold-bloodedly carried out the complete destruction of Libya, a real country with real people who love their children like you and me, in order—as the Podesta emails make clear—to further her personal political ambitions.
(Gawd read that last part again. She was responsible for thousands of deaths-to further her personal political ambitions. That has to be a sign of a sociopath as well as the people who agreed with her.
I watched as you stood silent before this same person’s perverse on-camera celebration of the murder by way of a bayonet thrust to the anus of the leader of that once sovereign country, and before the tens of thousand of deaths, and hundreds of thousands of refugees, that war provoked.

The rest of the article is a great takedown of why the author feels no empathy about Hillary losing the election.
I know that if a republican president had reformed welfare which saw millions of women and children go further into poverty, saw thousands of people locked up in prison for long sentences because poor people could only afford crack cocaine, not powder which rich people get away with snorting and getting away with it, deregulation of the financial institutions which saw millions of people lose their homes. How many of them voted for her anyway? And everything else Clinton did, the people who say that they are progressives would have reacted differently.
Bush caught hell for the Iraq war while Obama and Hillary didn't after destroying Libya and Syria.
And as I have stated many times, even though Hillary was going to get us further into the Syrian war by creating a no fly zone and risking a war with Russia, people were going to vote for her anyway.
That my friends is cognitive dissonance. And it just f'cking boggles my mind!
Living in the past? Hell no. The past is what the DLC did to the Democratic Party!

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

Voting is like driving with a toy steering wheel.

I read a commentary from CBS News about the smugness of the media in general.

Commentary: The unbearable smugness of the press

Here's an excerpt with my emphasis in bold:

The mood in the Washington press corps is bleak, and deservedly so.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that, with a few exceptions, we were all tacitly or explicitly #WithHer, which has led to a certain anguish in the face of Donald Trump’s victory. More than that and more importantly, we also missed the story, after having spent months mocking the people who had a better sense of what was going on.

This is all symptomatic of modern journalism’s great moral and intellectual failing: its unbearable smugness. Had Hillary Clinton won, there’s be a winking “we did it” feeling in the press, a sense that we were brave and called Trump a liar and saved the republic.

[SNIP]

This is all a “whitelash,” you see. Trump voters are racist and sexist, so there must be more racists and sexists than we realized. Tuesday night’s outcome was not a logic-driven rejection of a deeply flawed candidate named Clinton; no, it was a primal scream against fairness, equality, and progress. Let the new tantrums commence!

That’s the fantasy, the idea that if we mock them enough, call them racist enough, they’ll eventually shut up and get in line. It’s similar to how media Twitter works, a system where people who dissent from the proper framing of a story are attacked by mobs of smugly incredulous pundits.

Doesn't that sound just like TOP? And the part about Trump voters are racist and sexist sounds like it came straight out of DOV's mouth.

They didn't care how bad Clinton was, Trump was the greater of two evils.

We wanted to take out the trash, but it ended up only being a dream . . . for now.
