One furious Senate staffer told me early Wednesday morning that "Our candidates ran three points BEHIND Clinton nationwide. Leaving aside the incumbents, whom Schumer couldn’t pick, they ran more than SIX POINTS behind Clinton. So Schumer gets to pick absolutely anyone he wants, backed by a quarter of a billion dollars of party money, and he picks such stiffs that they can’t even get close to Clinton in their own states. It’s utterly disgraceful, and it’s why we will never take back control of the Senate as long as he is in charge."

Sen. Schumer (D–Wall Street) sent Dems on a wild goose chase

in 2016, trying to appeal to Republican voters. It happens every election, actually. The people pulling Democrats’ strings must be satisfied with the results. At any rate, Schumer’s claim to the leadership post is not being questioned.

For every blue-collar Democrat we will lose in western Pennsylvania, we will pick up two or three moderate Republicans in the suburbs of Philadelphia.

Not much chance of stopping it.

We've seen how Dems choose their Congessional leadership. It's strictly an auction for position. Raise $X and you can be Assistant Whip. Raise $10X and you can be majority leader. Schumer's head is so far up Dimon's ass that he's the champion money raiser. They're not going to change how they do it.
