Just when you thought things couldn't get any crazier

Apparently one of my state electors refuses to vote for Hillary Clinton:
Satiacum said in early October that he may not vote for Clinton, saying that she was “the same as Trump” and had committed “crimes against our mother, this Earth.”
“She doesn’t care about my land or my air or my fire or my water,” Satiacum told the AP Friday.
Satiacum Is a Native American Berner. He stands to be fined $1000 if he fails to vote as pledged. One would think he could get about 100,000 people to chip in a penny apiece to pay the fine...

Wow!
And people were worried that the Clinton organization had gotten to the electoral college (that is--people were worried that even if Trump or someone else won a state, the electoral college members would be "persuaded" to vote Clinton anyway).
Here we have the exact opposite!
(Kind of love this guy . . .)
I have no idea how they are chosen
My guess is that it's a bit like the modern House of Lords- electors are almost ceremonial and divided up among various communities.

I have no idea
how they are chosen, either. But, legally, they are supposed to vote for whoever won their state.
But, seeing how the Clinton gang seems to not care about corrupting elections, there are worries running around out there that they would influence people to break the law. If the fine is only $1,000, well, I could see a lot of persuading happening.
The Electors Should Sell Them Off to the Highest Bidder and
pay the fine, like the rest of the "deciders" in our political system.

Where do I send my donation toward the fine?
Serious question.

Another shining example of how this system is mucked up
It's a simple system really - one vote per person, count each one. Toss out all the electoral and delegates crap.
But that would give us mere peasants the power of actual voting. Can't have that.
This story is just proof of how rigged their system is.

Having the president elected by popular vote would make
each vote count. If you are a leftist in Alabama(say), your vote means nothing because a rightest will carry that state. In a popular vote election, your vote will be added to the total for your candidate and will mean more than it does now with the state by state system.

Actually it is a sort of tradition
that 1 elector defies the law and votes against the winner - I think it's usually from New Hampshire. (a New Hampshire elector did so to decide the 1800 election)
On to Biden since 1973
I wonder who he will vote for
Clearly not Trump, it's Bernie, Jill or abstain. I don't even know if you can abstain.

Yes, they can
"In United States presidential elections, a faithless elector is a member of the United States Electoral College who does not vote for the presidential or vice-presidential candidate for whom they had pledged to vote. That is, they actually vote for another candidate, or fail to vote, or choose not to vote."
That's from Wikipedia. I think we can trust the info on this.
Mundus vult decipi, ergo decipiatur.
I had read that yesterday in the Seattle Times.
Good on Mr. Satiacum. My new hero.

And now there is this:
Maybe enough electors will be so repulsed by the Killary Corruption Campaign that the election gets thrown too....?

That might be one of the things the
people who are supplying wikileaks are counting on.
Even AFTER Nov. 8, this nightmare of an election might not be over. This is enough to make me wish I had divided my effects among my kids and then gone walkabout last spring.

Satiacum was a Bernie delegate
Robert Satiacum was a Bernie delegate to the Dem national convention. Many Washington State Berners, including me, donated (via Gofundme) to help him get to Philly. A few weeks ago, some of his supporters posted on Facebook, testing the waters for support in paying the fine if he refused to cast his Electoral vote for Clinton. Many people (including me) said not only yes, but hell yes, we will commit ourselves to donate for this.
I haven't seen a Gofundme set up yet. Probably because until and unless a fine is imposed, it would be premature to collect money for it.
