Someone talk me down, because if this is true I am VOTING and ORGANIZING for Trump
Julian Assange Confirms Sanders Was Threatened https://t.co/aCYCMEqtkm
— Vote Jill Stein 2016 (@RebornADemocrat) October 3, 2016
Julian Assange has confirmed that Bernie Sanders was threatened into pulling out of the Democratic race in July.
During a recent interview with Australian journalist John Pilger, Assange said that Bernie Sanders was forced to drop out of the race due to threats from the Clinton campaign.
Assange’s admission appears to substantiate claims by the Kremlin who revealed they had evidence that Jane Sanders was physically threatened in order to “get Bernie on board” with Hillary’s campaign..
I am all in for Jill Stein, but if the above is true I feel so betrayed, so disgusted, PURE FUCKING ANGRY that I may start ADVOCATING for Trump just to take down the Klinton Krime Kartel!
I am beyond pissed!
Would also explain a downthread diary about Hillary wanting to drone Julian Assange
Comments
While it's very believable,
Assange has not offered any proof. If they are still doing the data dump tomorrow, maybe something will pop up there (although I wouldn't count on in).
Proof please...........
But if true........... see end of Hillary, unless you want an actual crime family in charge.

actual crime family?
If by now you don't know that the Clinton family is a huge crime family, then I don't know what to say.
Trump family crime can't compete with the sheer High Crimes of peddling influence through the state department
Julian Assange is credible to me, He isn't credible to the Orwellian forces controlling our media.
When I was a kid, Republicans used to red scare people, now it's the Democrats. I am getting too damn old for this crap!
Unfortunately for us
it's all unprovable conjecture at this point. Nothing has ever stuck (see Lack of Jail Time).
Now, if there is evidence of a threat to Bernie's wife, well it's a whole different ball game.
Gëzuar!!

Agree, BR. Assange didn't declare that he knew
anything.
Certainly, if I were using Assange's words, "if you ask me," I would simply be stating that 'it is my opinion and/or conjecture on my part'--not that I had concrete knowledge of an event, much less evidence to back it up.

We'll just have to wait to see what Assange has
I kind of doubt there's a smoking gun in there that says, "Threaten Jane Sanders at 8:00 tomorrow night. Love, Hillary." Not that she's shown a lot of competence with email use.
Most likely Assange is just fluffing the media ahead of his big data release day. It wouldn't be the first time someone did that. And I certainly wouldn't organize for Donald Trump until Assange actually shows his hand.

You just want an explanation for what he did and like so many
others, you want it to be someone else's doing, not Sander's choice.
But you still better wait to count them chickens. "Assange says" leaves a lot to be desired in regards to 'proof'.

What saddens me is watching all the people who hate
Hillary and want a different way splitting into three, or sometimes even four: some voting Trump, some not voting, some voting Stein, some voting Johnson. Guaranteed way not to make an impact.
I really wish that people would dump the Trump option, because Jesus H. Christ, he made a large donation to Hill's Senate campaign in 2006, their daughters are BFF's, the Clintons were at Trump's wedding, and Bill had a long conversation with Trump right before he entered the race. Of course, we're supposed to believe that that conversation had NOTHING to do with Trump entering the race! After all, you don't have PROOF that's what Bill said, do you? Sort of like that tarmac conversation with Loretta Lynch surely had NOTHING to do with refusing to prosecute Hillary.
Then the media cartel, all of which except Fox are Hillary donors, did everything they could to give oxygen to Trump's campaign, and essentially invented him, thus making it more likely that their gal Hill would face the only Republican she has an even chance of beating--and one who is a personal friend, at that.
C'mon does anybody believe that these people:

If there's evidence, let's see it!
Assange saying this doesn't "confirm" anything, it doesn't "substantiate" anything; without the proof, this is just gossip. If anyone actually has such evidence and is sitting on it, why??
Also, the report about her wanting to drone Assange was from long before Bernie even ran for president, so that is not related to this issue. That was because of Wikileaks posting a bunch of secret and embarrassing state department communications.
Wanting to drone somebody
does make her capable of anything, Which I am sure most of us are aware. If Bernie was threatened I doubt that they would be stupid enough to leave any evidence, maybe time will tell.
Does anyone at c99 doubt Medusa is capable of anything?
What kind of proof would satisfy the need for "proof"? As someone said in a comment above, an email from H to thug: "please neutralize Senator Sanders with extreme prejudice. Love, H"?
Why, that would that might require a pattern of behavior as rigging elections in plain sight, engineering coups in foreign countries, overseeing the murders of a million citizens--oh, wait. There is somebody who fills that description. This is called circumstantial evidence. But when some one is ready to spill the beans, they inexplicably seem to defy statistical predictions, dying of two self-inflicted gunshots to the back of their heads just a day or two in advance of said testimony.
I agree, for what it's worth
about requiring evidence for proof.
What I don't get is why so many here are really invested in promoting the idea that the Clintons didn't threaten Bernie. I don't mean it offends me; I mean, I really *don't get it*. I don't understand. Why is that something to get upset about, get angry about, fight about? It's perfectly obvious from things we *do* know that Hillary has no respect for human life. the Gaddafi thing would have proved that by itself, but if you don't care for that piece of evidence, there's the Honduran children, the "let's drone Assange" comment, and many other indicators that Hillary thinks killing people who get in her way is just fine, and occasionally even fun.
So why does the fact that some people believe she threatened Sanders, who was in her way, cause such a lot of furor? Rather than anger, I'd generally expect people to shrug and go, "I understand why you think that, but I need to see some proof before I come around to your point of view."
I simply don't understand. I guess it's something to do with people feeling that Bernie is being let off the hook by some here, and that makes them really pissed off, but I guess for me Bernie is not the central issue here. Whether he's good or bad is not my primary (heh) concern. I'm looking at a giant, very powerful political machine, and wondering if what I'm actually seeing is a Mafia, and, while I don't have proof, signs point to yes.

Circumstantial evidence can be admitted in a court under
certain conditions and it's possible to convict on circumstantial evidence.
Having a consistent M.O. is also admissible at times.
Hearsay can be admitted, particularly statements against interest.
Lacking physical and/or documentary evidence is not a dead end as far as a criminal case is concerned. A civil case just takes a preponderance of evidence (51%) and that seems to be more fitting regarding an alleged threat to Sanders.
Do we have a pattern of behavior? Do we have a means for conveying a threat? A motive? Do we see an abrupt and unanticipated change in the behavior of the person alleged to have been threatened?
Answers to these questions will point an investigator in a direction or lead the investigator to give up this line of inquiry.
"The justness of individual land right is not justifiable to those to whom the land by right of first claim collectively belonged"
I'm assuming this is rhetorical
Since I'm personally not angry, upset, fighting about it, or expressing furor about it. I didn't say Clintons aren't "capable" of it, nor have I seen anyone say that.
I prefer discussion that is based on something related to truth, facts, reality. The point I think is there is no evidence to support this theory, no reason to believe it.
It's funny but my thoughts run similar to yours in wondering why so many people are so invested in promoting this theory and insisting over and over that he *must have* been threatened, when there is simply no basis for thinking that.
It seems to me a reflexive need to defend a political figure for his actions and decisions. Bernie said all along he would support the dem nominee. He's supported the democrats and worked with them for decades. There is nothing out of character or unexpected in his support of Hillary now. But some people seem desperate for another answer, to exonerate him, to take away his agency. "The devil made him do it!" Seems silly to me.
This essay starts with "if this is true" -- my point was simply this: we don't know if it's true, Assange saying it doesn't make it true, Hillary being a sociopath doesn't make it true, and if it is true we will almost certainly never know it. If the Russians have "proof" then stop toying around and produce it. They don't, which suggests there isn't any. If there is, then bring it on!!
The evidence we do have, such as it is, suggests that Bernie is doing what he said he would do, because he genuinely believes that trump would be far worse and he prefers Clinton to win.
Why do so many people have such a hard time accepting that? I don't get it. Protecting Bernie by imagining him as a helpless victim of the evil Clintons? I don't see the point of clinging to that. But I assure you, I don't lose any sleep over it.
He made a promise and broke it.
It's not him doing what he said he would do. He didn't do what he said he would do. He said he'd take it to the convention, and he didn't.
Worked with the Democrats--whatever. He not only broke a campaign promise, one which would have allowed him to do all the later support of Clinton he wanted to, he also ignored blatant election fraud in multiple states which probably handed Clinton the election, which should change everything.
If Bernie turns out to be a ringer, I'll be sad but not shocked. I'm not deeply invested in him being a victim; I just think it's the most likely scenario.
I've already explained, multiple times, why I think he was threatened. And I've said there's no proof one way or another. And I've also said that beyond a certain point, the whole debate is a waste of time, and we reached that point a long time ago.
So, to keep myself honest, here goes: I'm not going to participate in any more discussions along this line, because, since I do believe they're a waste of time, isn't it hypocritical to keep arguing?
So, CS, you get to be the recipient of my final What Is Bernie's Motive posting. That and a quarter will buy you a phone call (maybe)

Hi CStS
I know it's late and you wrote this early this morning; sorry for late response but I'm just catching up after a long, busy day at work. I respect and am glad you've decided to not worry about this anymore. Just wanted to let you know, I actually have not read the vast majority of posts or comments on this, so I really don't know what all you've said before about it.
Bernie did say he would support the democratic nominee, very early in the campaign. When it became clear he would not win enough pledged delegates, they started saying they would try to convince the superdelegates to back him at the convention.
When it became clear they wouldn't, his campaign said they would take "it" (the campaign) to the convention to try and push for a more progressive platform. That is exactly what he did.
I do not think he ever made any other promise or said he would have a floor fight over the nomination at the convention. This is why I stopped my donations at that point. He said what his plan was, and I knew it wasn't something I wanted to contribute to.
It seems like maybe you misunderstood his comments about taking "it" to the convention. I still get emails from him saying the revolution continues by pushing democrats to enact progressive policies. I think Bernie believes this is the way forward, she is the least bad choice, and he is doing what he said he would do and what he has always done.
I do not agree with him, but I still respect his integrity for keeping to his path. I hope he succeeds in getting a few good things out of them.
And I wish you peace. Good night.
Excellent points, CS! I'm not blown away, nor
particularly surprised by the turn of events. Nor, am I upset, or grieving.
As the expression goes (one which I don't particularly care for, but which is apropos), "It is, what it is."
Hey, gotta drop by EB, and run a quick errand, but when I return, I'd like to suggest ways in which a powerful federal bureaucracy can 'bring, or try to bring an elected official/federal employee to heel'--for lack of a better expression. And, without issuing threats of physical violence, or bodily harm.

Thank you--the anger over it is pretty
obnoxious all of a sudden, and I find that very curious.
Example: I didn't appreciate being called a Truther here yesterday, over this stuff. As we all (should) know (by now), that's the kind of snot-nosed refrain one expects from those dicksmacks over at the Big Orange. I seriously don't think that should be acceptable here in that way. Now, this is not tone-policing and it is not trying to tell people how to communicate--it's making note of simple common decency. There's a polite way to say things, and there's an obnoxious way to say things. The polite way in this instance would be, as you correctly noted, something along the lines of:
There is simply no need to be the least bit obnoxious or angry about this subject. If you don't think anyone should speculate, take it up with the admins. If the admins are having a problem with it now, they should spell that out specifically to the community and set expectations.

The current working assumption appears to be that our Shroedinger's Cat system is still alive. But what if we all suspect it's not, and the real problem is we just can't bring ourselves to open the box?
Step away from the voting booth...slowly............slowly...
I really hate to say this but my gut tells me that in spite of all the deserved vitriol that is and has been thrown in Clinton's direction, she is going to be the next president of the sǝʇɐʇs pǝʇıun. A man like Trump cannot be permitted to lead what was, a democratic republic. He is every bit as dangerous and though some downplay it, there is the Supreme Court issue.
Many if not most of us here, strongly suspect that Sanders and family have been threatened. I personally do not doubt it for a moment. Power corrupts and absolute power...... If what Assange is saying is true, it will come out in the wash.
Have faith that should Grandma Yuppie make it to the White House -- tf she doesn't keel over first, her presidency will be enormously and irrevocably crippled from day one. The republicans will never stop in their efforts to bring her to prosecution, along with her SoS crew and members of the DOJ and FBI. Possibly, even Obama may be dragged down into the fray, though he cannot be prosecuted. They (the republicans) are far far better armed than they were during the Benghazi debacle. And now more than ever, the awareness level and skepticism of the audience, the general public, is more attuned to her behavior than ever before.
A vote for an independent is just as important now. More important in my view as the higher the 3rd party numbers climb, the more attention they will receive which to me is just as damaging to the Dems if not more than a vote for Herr Dunderhead 'The Poltroon' Trump.
Peace

Not so sure the Republicans will oppose Hillary.
She has lots of supporters from that side of the aisle. Besides, since she has been chosen by the PTB and thrust upon our unwilling nation, they will have to fall in line like everyone else. That's one reason I think she is so dangerous - there is not enough there to thwart her.
I don't recognize the website

Would anybody be surprised
if this is true?
I would have to give up my conspiracy claim about those who say that Sander's was threatened. With pleasure.
But I wouldn't be surprised.
If facts show that it is true, will the Sander"s family come forward?
If not, it will show the cowardice and ownership of our so-called government figures beyond a doubt.
That too, is a given.
Regardless of the path in life I chose, I realize it's always forward, never straight.
If everyone voted their hopes instead of their fears, Jill Stein
would be President. She should be our leader. Anything that dilutes the Stein vote is going to bring the same-old, same-old. IOW, a vote for Trump is a vote for Clinton.
If that doesn't talk you down, nothing will.

I hear ya; OTOH, Trump is awful too.
I truly don't know which of them is worse; it depends on the issue.
That's why I feel we can vote for Jill with a clear conscience. If doing so results in either of the awful candidates getting in, at most we've done incremental "damage". With either a T or C Presidency, there's going to be a lot of buyers' remorse.
Please check out Pet Vet Help, consider joining us to help pets, and follow me @ElenaCarlena on Twitter! Thank you.
Trump may have said and done lots of awful things...
but he never stole an election from a candidate I supported.
That alone would preclude me from ever voting for Clinton.
I fully plan to vote for Stein, but if it looks close for Hillary here in Florida I will hold my nose and vote for the lessor evil and cast my ballot for Trump.
That's how pathetic their candidate is...
If Trump wins, the DNC and the Clintons own it, not me.

Totally agree with your last sentence. They knew they were
running a terrible candidate with less chance of beating Trump than our candidate. It's on them that they didn't go ahead with the very popular Bernie.
Still, if Jill Stein could win it and we're afraid to vote for her, then a vote for Trump is a vote for Clinton.
Please check out Pet Vet Help, consider joining us to help pets, and follow me @ElenaCarlena on Twitter! Thank you.
Alphalop,
I really want to vote for Jill Stein too. However, the further this thing rolls along, I'm starting to agree with you. If it's that close in Florida, I may hold my nose and vote for Trump, as well. One Thing I will never do, is vote for $hillary.
I want to agree with you both that a vote for Trump
would be better than allowing Clinton to be rewarded with a win after all she has done to our movement for justice. The problem I have with Trump is I seriously believe he could do some really evil shit like that fucktard in the 1930-40s with the tiny dumb looking mustache--and I couldn't live with myself to know that I helped elect him. I know he can't 'legally' do many things without congress' approval but there are many secret and extra-judiciary things he could do. Think of all the things that our politicians have gotten away with that a normal citizen would be jailed for....Trump would cross that line and some people that aren't white like me will pay the ultimate.
I will vote Stein here in Florida.
There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties.. This...is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution.--John Adams

How will you feel about your vote?

they're full of shit, full stop. I made a schlep to South Florida last week--it's even looking redder down there than it is up here in the north.

"I’m a human being, first and foremost, and as such I’m for whoever and whatever benefits humanity as a whole.” —Malcolm X
I couldn't agree more - we
I couldn't agree more - we should never vote for evil. It's now or never - clear the corporate interests and billionaires out of politics and the bananas out of the Republic before the corporate coup goes through. There may never be another chance to even try.
Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.
A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.
Old Story
Snopes covered this story on Sept. 9, 2016: Bernie Sandbagged
While this particular story stinks that does not mean the Sanders was not threatened. But even the Clintons are not quite stupid enough to leave their fingerprints on the gun and mail it to the police.
We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.--Aristotle
If there is no struggle there is no progress.--Frederick Douglass
Snopes is no longer impartial
They've been caught tilting their analyses to favor Her Heinous. That damned woman corrupts and corrodes everything and everyone she touches. Win or lose, she will leave a trail of slime behind her for years, maybe decades.
There is no justice. There can be no peace.
Snopes is rushing to judgement on this and others
what's amusing about how they debunk the "Bernie was threatened and forced to drop out" story is that they do it by showing that the Dems conspired to sabotage his campaign. That's probably not what they wanted to convey.
While I agree that Snopes is not impartial, they would
totally risk losing all relevance if they totally buried something that was factual. Bias is one thing; looking like complete fools is another. Why haven't Assange or Pilger verified that they actually said what was reported? They have had a month since this story first broke.
I do not doubt that Sanders was threatened in some way, just not on the basis of this particular report. If the facts now come out proving that he was, this story will lessen the impact and many will just see it as another false story.

Of course not. Neither is politifact. Who *IS* impartial these
days? Almost no one. Of course, ethical people would bend over backwards to be objective anyway, but the ethical ship seems to have sailed decades ago.
Thank you
Whether one thinks Sanders may have received serious personal threats, or that Snopes is biased toward Clinton, or that this interview took place, or that this claim was made in said interview, Pilger has been a journalist, author, and film maker for 50 years. He has a website, twitter account, and facebook page. It seems more likely he'd share this information directly or with some prominent media entity?
The original publication date of the article concerns me
Why would it have taken almost six weeks to get out if there was some flame hiding in the smoke?
Assuming this piece is factual, what can be done about it now? The FBI had much better evidence on the top secret emails which were exposed by Hillary's inept secrecy issues and did nothing. I keep waiting for Congressional Republicans to do something, but they appear OK with letting Her Heinous win for now. An impeachment trap? If so, they must like Kaine and want him in the Oval Office.
I will not myself vote for Trump. But I can understand why someone might. There is essentially no other viable option remaining if Her is to be stopped.
Vowing To Oppose Everything Trump Attempts.
Trump won't stop her, because Trump is her ally.

You are not going to see a horse head in bed or dead fish mail
Nor would you see an upside down flag in front of his house.
However, I sense that Bernie is operating under duress. The manner in which he promotes HRC indicates to me that they got to him politically or God forbid, personally.
I would not doubt that the Clinton political machine would resort to such tactics. And, as such she will not get my vote.

New kid, first response. Please be gentle.
I gently approve your message.
I happen to feel the same way. Keep on, keeping' on. : )
Whether true or not--
I believe Trump is working with the Clintons, so be very careful how you express your rage.
How would it feel five years later to discover from Wikileaks or something that they were working together?

Sounds to me as though Assange is simply expressing his opinon,
which is no more authoritative on this subject than anyone else's opinion. He did not "confirm" zip.
As for the diary, it claims Hillary spoke of droning Assange in 2010, so I don't see how that relates to threatening Sanders to concede in 2016.
If my spouse were threatened, he or she would be in Finland as I type, not accompanying me while I stump for Hillary.
Still No Hard Evidence Of Threats on Bernie
Nothing in the Wikileaks announcement at 3am ET this morning.
All we have is this quote from Assange which sounds like his suspicion without evidence. And the Kremlin beating its chest.

he was never threatened
That is just shit made up by people desperate to excuse Daddy for disappointing them.
TBH, I'd Welcome the Proof
and given Clinton Crime Family history, it would not surprise me. But by the content of this essay, I'm not seeing the proof yet.
That's OK, still think Hellery is awful and will never vote for her (or herr Trump).

daddy,
he could never, on his own, have disappointed, the children. Someone, must have fucked him up.
Oh, right, and I am so mad someone tried to poison me
with cyanide, that I'm going to shoot myself! That'll show them I'm not to be manipulated!
/snark, of course, but the diary premise makes about as much sense, even if the assertion were known to be accurate.

Vote Green, end the rule of
Vote Green, end the rule of the RNC/DNC machine of the Oligarchy!
So long, and thanks for all the fish
I just learned of this strategy
Apparently being organized by former Our Revolution staffers:
#OpDeny270.
Search them on social media if you're on those channels. Their FB page is pretty tight. This is a serious effort.
TL;DR: Write Bernie in if you live in a state that counts those votes. In all others where she appears on the ballot, vote Jill.
Regarding Assange and the lack of October surprise: I also just did see that Guccifer 2.0 announced a hack of the Clinton Foundation. Screen shot shows digital folders including one labeled "Pay to Play." (I haven't had the time to verify authenticity, etc.).
