Hillary on tape about Bernie supporters Edit: NOW WITH SOUND FILE

White noise machines are so useful when you don't want the public to hear what you really think of them... I guess this isn't quite a 47% moment, but it's not pretty:

From POLITICO

Clinton gives her take on Sanders supporters in leaked fundraising recording

Leaked audio of a conversation between Hillary Clinton and donors during a February fundraising event shows the Democrat nominee describing Bernie Sanders supporters as "children of the Great Recession" who are "living in their parents’ basement." Speaking at a Virginia fundraiser hosted by former U.S. ambassador Beatrice Welters, Clinton says in a clip released by the Free Beacon Friday that many of her former primary opponent's supporters sought things like “free college, free healthcare,” saying that she preferred to occupy the space "from the center-left to the center-right" on the political spectrum.

Here's more:

"There is a strain of, on the one hand, the kind of populist, nationalist, xenophobic, discriminatory kind of approach that we hear too much of from the Republican candidates," she said. "And on the other side, there’s just a deep desire to believe that we can have free college, free healthcare, that what we’ve done hasn’t gone far enough, and that we just need to, you know, go as far as, you know, Scandinavia, whatever that means, and half the people don’t know what that means, but it’s something that they deeply feel."

But really, like Bill, she feels our pain:

Clinton added: "If you’re feeling like you’re consigned to, you know, being a barista, or you know, some other job that doesn’t pay a lot, and doesn’t have some other ladder of opportunity attached to it, then the idea that maybe, just maybe, you could be part of a political revolution is pretty appealing. "I think we all should be really understanding of that," Clinton said.

Oh, well, I guess she really gets us then (um, I'm not even slightly in the demographic she's dissing, and yet she's smearing me, too...).

This was a writeup of the original event:
http://freebeacon.com/politics/hillary-clinton-goes-back-to-well-hits-up...

This is the recent post with the sound file:
http://freebeacon.com/politics/clinton-privately-warned-u-s-cyber-attack...

Here's the sound file:

What's this "FINALLY, we're talking about issues"?! Bernie was ALWAYS talking about issues...

And yet another coughing fit.

Wow - she goes on and on and on about Flynt. Can't say I've heard her say anything about Flynt since Michigan voted last spring.

About 60% through the tape she says she never understood what Sanders means by 'revolution.' There's a shocker.

'What we are left with is an agency mandated to ensure transparency and disclosure that is actually working to keep the public in the dark' - Ann M. Ravel, former FEC member

The Bush-initiated TPP Hillary promoted around the world and which Obama is attempting to shove through Congress - with Fast-tracked other corporate coups to follow - will eliminate/enforce everything the corporate Republicans wanted on behalf of their paymasters - but offshored corporate domestic law is out of everyone else's hands and powers.

The social contract - as with humanity in both senses of the term, life on the planet, the concept of law in the public interest and democracy, together with sanity and survival sense - is being privatized for maximized anticipated future corporate/billionaire profiteering with no restrictions allowed, except on the people whose countries have been betrayed by their own public servants to them.

Why is the deciding vote so important, prior to the TPP challenges, in the Supreme Court that Obama put forth a corporate-friendly Republican for and for which Hillary offers one of her creatures?

What uncorrupted and sane court of law would accept a private agreement between two groups that unwitting 3rd parties could be industrially and otherwise poisoned for temporarily increased corporate/billionaire profits with no recourse? Sued into bankruptcy for any attempt to defend themselves, their inalienable citizen and human rights, their own, their animals and environmental health and life, their public properties and services, their domestic law and democracy? That their Constitutions and laws protecting against such traitorous acts could somehow be 'scrapped' by the signature of a transient public official empowered only to make trade deals not impinging upon the public or country which the office of such officials exists to serve?

These agreements are not 'legal and binding', as has been claimed, upon the intended victims of these massive and fatal frauds.

There is no more reality to this claim of 'legality' than there has been to the results of many US election results, such as the recent Dem primary - yet these traitors filling government and their paymasters will not allow political or other peaceful revolution to occur while the fraudulent corporate coup is jammed into place to be enforced against us all next month or earlier?

Silly buggers...

It took me a little while to get the point of Frank's book, which wasn't about what I expected it to be about. But "meritocracy" is an important concept. I began to understand it as a modern-day secular form of Calvinism, wherein material success is evidence of moral superiority, a badge admitting one to the ranks of the Elect. Such a belief system is invented to justify the comforts of the comfortable class to themselves, and gives cover to the deep immorality of their failing to share or to help others.

Hillary is a high priestess of this Neo-Calvinism, following her destiny to rise above us all. It is perhaps an even more toxic basis for a political administration than Trump's hate filled nativist populism, particularly because of the wide base of adherents it has in the ruling classes. Of such things is a permanent aristocracy made.

Although I did not write that in my essay on meritocracy, that is exactly what it is. This is also why these people lack empathy. Thank you for summarizing it so well DD!

I have been writing about neo-liberalism regularly here and I keep coming back to this Calvinistic idea of meritocracy which underpins everything they do. It also absolves them of any guilt when lesser people suffer as a result. In a way, it is a steroidal continuation of American exceptionalism and the so called American dream. The people of this country have bought it for years, but the myth of meritocracy is starting to crumble. Unfortunately, it is not crumbling fast enough.

NONE of the West O. kids that I knew during Vietnam ever ended up in the military. They all had college (or some other) deferments. My ex, brother, and others of 'our' class were either drafted or enlisted so as to try to not end up in a rice paddy somewhere. My ex and my brother are still here because they didn't end up in 'Nam. My ex processed military personnel in Anchorage, AK at Ft. Richardson and John went to Diyarbakir, Turkey. They were lucky. Two people I knew came home in body bags. It was a crapshoot for the prols, the game was rigged for our 'betters'.

But I did read all about the time Shills tried to join the Marines. /s

I started trying to find some of the many articles I'd previously read on Dominionism among (predominately Republican) Washington politicians which focused on Hillary's membership in The Family, which had included some on TOP, (which I hadn't expected to have retained these) the one I checked there now referring to Calvinism, rather than Dominionism, (which promotes the belief that those more powerful have the right to do as they please to those less so,) as does this Mother Jones article and anything else I could find. But considering what's been done to internet searching and various things which the once-progressive or corporate media printed that the Clintons/their funders/TPTB didn't like, this was hardly surprising.

This says nothing about any later editing; does anyone else recall reading an article very similar to this some years back, but with references to Dominionism?

If you possibly can on whatever device you're using, though, please read this in full at source.

Hillary's Prayer: Hillary Clinton's Religion and Politics
For 15 years, Hillary Clinton has been part of a secretive religious group that seeks to bring Jesus back to Capitol Hill. Is she triangulating—or living her faith?

Kathryn Joyce and Jeff SharletSep. 1, 2007

... Through all of her years in Washington, Clinton has been an active participant in conservative Bible study and prayer circles that are part of a secretive Capitol Hill group known as the Fellowship. Her collaborations with right-wingers such as Senator Sam Brownback (R-Kan.) and former Senator Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) grow in part from that connection. ...

... Because Jones introduced Clinton and her teenage peers to the civil rights movement and modern poetry and art, Clinton biographers often cast him as a proto-'60s liberal who sowed seeds of radicalism throughout Park Ridge. Jones, though, describes his theology as neoorthodox, guided by the belief that social change should come about slowly and without radical action. It emerged, he says, as a third way, a reaction against both separatist fundamentalism and the New Deal's labor-based liberalism. ...

... Tillich, whose sermon on grace Clinton turned to during the Lewinsky scandal, today enjoys a following among conservatives for revising the social gospel—the notion that Christians are to improve humanity's lot here on earth by fighting poverty, inequality, and exploitation—to emphasize individual redemption instead of activism.

Niebuhr and Tillich's combination of aggressiveness in foreign affairs and limited domestic ambition naturally led Clinton toward the gop. ...

... Clinton's prayer group was part of the Fellowship (or "the Family"), a network of sex-segregated cells of political, business, and military leaders dedicated to "spiritual war" on behalf of Christ, many of them recruited at the Fellowship's only public event, the annual National Prayer Breakfast. (Aside from the breakfast, the group has "made a fetish of being invisible," former Republican Senator William Armstrong has said.) The Fellowship believes that the elite win power by the will of God, who uses them for his purposes. Its mission is to help the powerful understand their role in God's plan.

Clinton declined our requests for an interview about her faith, but in Living History, she describes her first encounter with Fellowship leader Doug Coe at a 1993 lunch with her prayer cell at the Cedars, the Fellowship's majestic estate on the Potomac. Coe, she writes, "is a unique presence in Washington: a genuinely loving spiritual mentor and guide to anyone, regardless of party or faith, who wants to deepen his or her relationship with God." ...

The Fellowship's ideas are essentially a blend of Calvinism and Norman Vincent Peale, the 1960s preacher of positive thinking. It's a cheery faith in the "elect" chosen by a single voter—God—and a devotion to Romans 13:1: "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers....The powers that be are ordained of God." Or, as Coe has put it, "we work with power where we can, build new power where we can't."

When Time put together a list of the nation's 25 most powerful evangelicals in 2005, the heading for Coe's entry was "The Stealth Persuader." "You know what I think of when I think of Doug Coe?" the Reverend Schenck (a Coe admirer) asked us. "I think literally of the guy in the smoky back room that you can't even see his face. He sits in the corner, and you see the cigar, and you see the flame, and you hear his voice—but you never see his face. He's that shadowy figure."

Coe has been an intimate of every president since Ford, but he rarely imposes on chief executives, who see him as a slightly mystical but apolitical figure. Rather, Coe uses his access to the Oval Office as currency with lesser leaders. "If Doug Coe can get you some face time with the President of the United States," one official told the author of a Princeton study of the National Prayer Breakfast last year, "then you will take his call and seek his friendship. That's power." ...

... According to the Fellowship's archives, the spirit has in the past led its members in Congress to increase U.S. support for the Duvalier regime in Haiti and the Park dictatorship in South Korea. The Fellowship's God-led men have also included General Suharto of Indonesia; Honduran general and death squad organizer Gustavo Alvarez Martinez; a Deutsche Bank official disgraced by financial ties to Hitler; and dictator Siad Barre of Somalia, plus a list of other generals and dictators. ...

... Clinton has also joined the gop on legislation that redefines social justice issues in terms of conservative morality, such as an anti-human-trafficking law that withheld funding from groups working on the sex trade if they didn't condemn prostitution in the proper terms. With Santorum, Clinton co-sponsored the Workplace Religious Freedom Act; she didn't back off even after Republican senators such as Pennsylvania's Arlen Specter pulled their names from the bill citing concerns that the measure would protect those refusing to perform key aspects of their jobs—say, pharmacists who won't fill birth control prescriptions, or police officers who won't guard abortion clinics.

Clinton has championed federal funding of faith-based social services, which she embraced years before George W. Bush did; Marci Hamilton, author of God vs. the Gavel, says that the Clintons' approach to faith-based initiatives "set the stage for Bush."

She says that they (us) want free college and free health care. That phrase is used in order to make it sound like a handout, a gift, something given that is unearned. If she was not a fucking tool of the 1%, she would have said "universal healthcare funded by your tax dollars" not free healthcare. Using the word "free" is designed to make it sound like the recipient is a moocher, even though it's being paid for by the "moocher".

Oh, she knows damn well what she's doing. If she is elected POTUS, it will be a glorious day for the 1%. As my buddy George says it'll be that old carnival sideshow game for the rich, it's an old gallery game called "Shoot 'Til You Win".

it. she plays with the fact that Americans don't know what millions of people in Europe know so well that they don't even think about it. Apparently she has no clue about many things considering how European countries work. No wonder her foreign policy approaches are DOA. Who the hell does Clinton, Obama, Kerry think they are? The can't treat their own people with dignity and proper social services, but they run around big mouthed talking smoothly about "how understanding they are" with the poor and underprivileged people of the world. It's childish to think you can have free college education, public health care for all etc. Yeah, if you are a frigging coward to fight for those things, you can't have hem. That's right.

The lady is smart enought when it comes to expressing herself empathetically, while being political, but dumb enought to not recognize that people are apparently a little bit smarter than she believes they are.

That makes me angy. But now I even remember that I had heard her speak that way before.

Why the hell do you think that children of the Great Recession might be living in their parent's basement?
Could it be because they are straddled with tens of thousands of dollars in student loans and they can't find a decent job that pays more than minimum wage?
Or that they went to one of the colleges like the one your husband sat on the board for and got paid $1.6 million only to see that they walked away from it after being charged with government fraud? And since Duncan let them off with a fine but they didn't have to admit to any wrongdoing, the students are still on the hook for their loans that they were told they would get relief from?

a cliché insult, it's been used so often. Notice, it's possible to say "forced to live in their parents' homes" without using the classic language used to insult someone the speaker or writer (or poster) sees as a loser. Also, she, her husband and her media minions sure did a ton of mocking and insulting of Bernie's supporters during the 2016 primary and of Obama's supporters during the 2008 primary. So, in all, concluding she was mocking Bernie's supporters with a worn out put down is definitely not a bridge too far.

But five weeks out... well, the cards have been dealt. And we all hold a $h!tty hand.

in writing in Bernie since he lost the primary. To vote for Jill I will have to write in her name, which I'm quite willing to do. If we had ranked voting, I'd write in Bernie second in spite of the sore loser law just to send a message to the Democratic Party.

Even now, more because they're pissed at the cheating than because they're happy with Bernie. However, she could obviously just rig it all.

Not a reason for not trying, and I'm all on board with OP270

"I think we all should be really understanding of that," Clinton said.

Note that she doesn't suggest they should do anything about it, only that they shouldn't totally hate on the victims of their oligarchic policies, because, you know, it's perfectly understandable that people who have been totally fucked over are looking for a solution to their misery. And I suppose, if you are "understanding" of what it is those people are pissed off about, and what-all they're feeling, then you can craft some sort of appropriate "communication" that will delude some of them into thinking you mean to help them, when really, nothing you've proposed is going to do most of them any fuck-all good.

Note that when Bernie talks up Hillary, he always says she "understands" the things he pushed for in his campaign. He never says that she cares about them, supports them, or will work for them.

He also never used the word endorse. When you listen to Bernie's speech in Philly he is dissing Her Highness (while addressing Berniecrats) when he said things like "she understands and supports the $15 wage... " - knowing damn well she does neither.
So, why was Bernie "building her up?" He wasn't building her up. He was shaming her in front of her and everybody, laying the foundation for the monent her "honeymoon" over, the moment Bernie can remind (Dem) voters that Her Highness has ignored the platform "they" built in Philly, time for Bernie to put his cape back on, get on with the business of building that political "revolution." "Hillary Understands... " Exactly right, Johnny Q. Exactly right. Bernie no dumb bunny, one smart cookie.

I don't live in my parent's basement. My parents are dead, I'm 57 years old, I have been working and supporting myself since I was 17... 40 years! My husband's mom is 80, with dementia, needs constant care that costs a goddamn fortune. We have a house that we are working our asses off to pay for, we go to work every fucking day, and if I'm lucky I will get to keep going to work for another 20 years or more, because 'retirement' is a fucking joke. Unless I get axed and we lose everything we have worked so hard for. Hillary Clinton is beyond clueless. This is exactly why I cannot stomach this entitled, snotty woman pretending she gives a shit about us. Sorry for all the f-bombs but this really does encapsulate why I cannot ever vote for her and makes me seriously angry. Arg.

Hillary just can't help herself. She can't stop being a condescending, lying, douchebag. All she has to do is shut up and pretend to be a decent human being with a conscience and she'd win.

I thought Trump was trying to throw the election, but maybe she is, too?

Used FireFox regular and private browsers, Chrome regular and private, Opera regular and private, and Safari would only load the poll in regular...

I'm sure that using the private browser of FireFox, Chrome, or Opera then quitting it and restarting would allow multiple votes but the allotted time wasting for $hillary issues had already been consumed...

I've already resigned myself that there probably will be another Clinton presidency unless she drops dead during a public appearance and they can't cover it up somehow and run her dead carcass...

We'll just have to have a good exterminator get the vermin out of the White House after the revolution...
