Pootie Pad Kickstarter - a Request for Comments

Pecos the wonder kitteh

I am posting this here to reach our friends who gather here...
This weekend, my sister, Ann, and I were thrilled to announce our launch on Kickstarter to bring our Pootie Pad business to the next level. The goal is to raise funds for a website update, advertising, and for the materials and time it takes to make a stock of goods to meet increased demand for our quilted herb-filled pads. We have under three weeks to achieve this — and we are about 14% there. Not bad! But we have a long way to go...

HERE IS THE LINK FOR THE POOTIE PAD KICKSTARTER!

Here is my plea… Anyone who has bought Pootie Pads, whether for cats, dogs, or a lavender pad or quilt for themselves, would you please sign up on Kickstarter, make a pledge (I think as little as a dollar will do it but of course any amount to help us reach our goal is deeply appreciated!) and leave a testimonial in the comment section. The way Kickstarter works, you can’t leave a comment without being a backer. It will help us immensely to have a good showing of backers and a populated comment section.

In the Pootie Pad Kickstarter, you will read about a cat on a boat — this is she on her Pootie Pad!

If you have already pledged, THANK YOU! Please come back to our Kickstarter page and comment!

And of course, please share our campaign with your circle of contacts.

  • Shout it to the rooftops to people who want to buy well-made, maker/artisan products, made in America.
  • Tell people who will be delighted to help two mature women make a wonderful business in what has been a hard economy
  • Know someone connected with an animal shelter or rescue organization? We would be especially glad for the introduction because Pootie Pads are very soothing to animals in transition from shelter to forever home — and where cats are concerned, Pootie Pads are a super effective attractant in a humane trap, too!
  • Tell your family, friends, and neighbors! Tweet, Facebook, and share widely! Have them share with their networks!
  • And remember, although the primary purpose of the Kickstarter is to Kickstart our business, there are rewards of Pootie Pads for different levels of giving. Think forward to the holidays! Pootie Pads make terrific gifts.

HERE IS THE LINK FOR THE POOTIE PAD KICKSTARTER ONCE AGAIN!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart! I know that with our friends we can make this goal!

not just with pledges but with networking. The internet is chock full of cats (and dogs) -- lots of people out there are devoted to their pets. We need to reach pet people outside of our circle. Facebook shares, Tweets, and other social media sharing is so helpful.

If you have other ideas of where to share, please let me know!

Knowing our cats, they would be saliva ridden within days. Especially cat nip (although one of our cats prefers cat mint).

But then if you wash them............? The herbs?

I've washed our two pootie pads at least 6 times since we bought them a few years ago. Just wash in cold water so you don't "brew" the nip. Smile

Sometimes it is necessary (furballs, you know). We have pads that are years old, have been washed multiple times, and the cats still like them. The trick is to use mild soap, cold water only, and to hang to dry. If you use warm or hot water, you will make catnip tea in the washer! If you put them in a hot dryer, the herbs will toast and lose their scent.

There is a lot of catnip in each pad -- and it is the good stuff, cut leaves and flowers, little to nothing in the way of stems. Four handfuls in each original size pad! So it will last a long time with proper care.

One way to refresh the scent in one of our pads is to ball it up and rub it briskly. This will bruise the herbs inside and release more scent.

The sharing really helps. We need the exposure to as many people as possible. {{{{pswaterspirit}}}}}

altering the pootie pads to have a velcro seam so buyers can add more herbs to replenish the originals when they are spent, which you can sell?
Or a zipper? That way the pads can be washed and you can sell two products instead of one.

for a number of reasons. A big one is that if you can open a pad, so can an enterprising cat. The Pootie Pad is designed to be very durable -- and therefor well sealed.

Another thing is that fasteners of any type add considerably to the time to make a pad.

The way we have done it, the pads last a long, long time anyway. If you look in the comments in the Kickstarter, there are several attesting to the longevity of the pads.

Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.

Thank you!
