A Formal Call for DNC to have a Plan B Process Given Clinton Health Issues

From POLITICO

Former DNC chairman calls for Clinton contingency plan

A former Democratic National Committee chairman says President Barack Obama and the party’s congressional leaders should immediately come up with a process to identify a potential successor candidate for Hillary Clinton for the off-chance a health emergency forces her out of the race.

“Now is the time for all good political leaders to come to the aid of their party,” said Don Fowler, who helmed the DNC from 1995 to 1997, during Bill Clinton’s presidency, and has backed Hillary Clinton since her 2008 presidential bid. “I think the plan should be developed by 6 o’clock this afternoon.”

Funny this guy should mention this - why, I believe we just happen to have a spare candidate available for such an event who already has on record a significant number of DNC delegates who voted for him.

About this Fowler guy, he's got some built-in credibility:

1) He supports Hillary
2) You've noted when in history he chaired the DNC
3) He was around in '72 when McGovern's #2 was replaced on the ticket

He suggests there might be contentiousness between supporters for Sanders and Biden should Hillary remove herself (whew! at least he doesn't say Kaine would try to get in on that action as well!).

He recommends she really get better and not have another day incident like yesterday. He suggests that the DNC create a process NOW so pandemonium doesn't break out if it needs to be used (the rules as they stand are fairly vague). If you're interested in this topic, be sure to read the article which goes a bit more into details of what's required for DNC members to participate in this decision-making.

Surprisingly, neither the Clinton Campaign nor the DNC commented for the article.

Ed Rendell says there's no way in hell Hillary will resign from the race (she'll show everyone by wiping the floor with Trump in the debates - or, I think that's what he said).

The DNC cannot remove Hillary - she would need remove herself. POLITICO explains what would happen next:

If Clinton could not physically continue her candidacy, she would have to voluntarily cede her nomination, creating a vacancy at the top of the national ticket. If she did, party procedures give the chair of the DNC authority to call a “special meeting” to vote on a replacement nominee. In this case, because chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz resigned in July, her successor, Brazile, has that authority.

The person who came in second for the run for the presidency would be the logical choice.
But we know that the DNC , the democrats, the Wall Street bankers and the neoconservatives of both parties would never accept that candidate because too much money is involved.
I don't want any serious health issues to happen to Hillary, but I certainly don't want either her or Bill back in the White House!

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

Voting is like driving with a toy steering wheel.

that it be Biden who gets her place. Because that'll bring people out to vote, right? Just appoint a leader with no votes having been cast for him... odd, that doesn't sound like a democracy at all...

And as bad as this probably makes me sound, but I wish she hit her head again during that alleged pneumonia incident. And that she went into a five month coma. Just long enough for the next president to be sworn into office already. I mean, I don't wish long lasting or permanent damage to her (because I'm not a Clinton), but I wouldn't weep if something kept her from doing more damage to the world than she's already caused.

The current working assumption appears to be that our Shroedinger's Cat system is still alive. But what if we all suspect it's not, and the real problem is we just can't bring ourselves to open the box?

were in his movie, #SoMe: https://youtu.be/TjE49s1Gnco?t=14m20s (funny dog segment about 20 seconds in...)

I reviewed it here:

I would have shared that Hillary vid here, but I don't really want to traffic in Hillary memes, or be connected to downing her campaign with pop culture memes. I'll let that thing fester all on it's own.

That said, I found it very funny. His work is really off color, crude, inflammatory, and raw. This is actually quite tame.

I think that Loren might supporting Trump, though, which kind of bums me out. He's a neighborhood New Yorker with anti-Establishment views. He certainly isn't supporting Hillary, as if you couldn't tell. Wink

Regardless of the path in life I chose, I realize it's always forward, never straight.

if (when) Hillary can no longer continue her quest due to failing health:

1. SHE gets to decide if she wants to continue, even if it's from her death bed
and
2. 475 Democratic Party insiders get to decide, in place of the millions of Democratic primary voters, who will head the ticket should she expire or agree to drop out.

Well, that would be about as clear a demonstration of the meaninglessness and impotence of our vote and proof positive that the illusion of democratic self governance is a complete sham.

The consequences of this revelation could be truly revolutionary. Or not.

out of her cold dead hand.

...and even then they'll have trouble (if they aren't already).

I've edited the line. It was late - I'm really over-tired this week (thankfully, I'm not running for POTUS)

Sorry to be vague but I was reading something yesterday (HuffPo?) where it was claimed that the DNC bylaws have a process for thus problem and it doesn't automatically mean Kaine. It sounded like the delegates might figure in to the process.

Edit: found the link. The original was in heavy.com.

in the event Hillary were incapacitated.

What if she was in a coma and could not remove herself?

What legal recourse might Bernie have if she was removed? We know they'd appoint an insider if delegates don't count; we know they'd do anything and everything to keep Bernie out.
