How Did We Do In August? Take A Look At The Numbers.
We exceeded expectations. We passed our threshold target by $1079.36. The internal numbers are even better. Please click on the link below and read further as you listen.
The 'recurring donations' total of $1121.03 -22.07% of the total- is actually low, because we won't have an accurate count of recurring pledges before September's numbers and probably not before October's figures.
Notes on recurring payments: So many accounts were deleted and then set up again that it was kind of hard to pin down a total. September's figures will be more accurate as it will give us a full month and all recurring donations can be accurately totaled.
The recurring donations via USPS is hard to pin down as folks needed to tell me whether they were recurring or not. The figures above are for the donations that were noted by the senders to be recurring. As they come in this month I should be able to have an accurate accounting of the recurring mail donations.
Right now, the threshold voluntary ongoing commitment is set at $24/year. This enables 95% of the membership to have a realistic shot at subscribing. Let's suppose that 10% of the membership (the range from 85% to 95%) fits the "I can do two bucks but not more," category. That still leaves 5% of the members who can't do two bucks a month or $24/year. Three out of five of those 100 remaining members can do $20/year, particularly after our fundraising team shows them how to spin cat hair into gold. The $20/year minimum makes voluntary on-going subscription accessible to 98% of our members.
JtC has added an email address, obtainable from him, for reporting your recurring-support commitment by a simple statement. The address is for those members who aren't making on-line payments in same-amount partials. Just write your user name in the email and say "recurring" in it. Those of you sending in checks & money orders, please include your user name & "recurring" on the 'what's this for?' line of the check/money order. Please feel free to donate in this essay.

Thanks to Everyone Who Has Contributed So Far
Thanks for the positive report and for all the work you've done (along with other members of this community) to allow caucus99percent to prosper and thrive, David.
There aren't too many other progressive blogs, if any, where dissent is tolerated and differing perspectives welcomed. A huge thanks to JtC, joe shikspack, and their team of moderators who keep this place going.
This is a tremendous start and really good news. Let's keep going!

This is excellent! Of course, if an angel wants to donate $4K
monthly, we'll take it I assume, and then start figuring out how much extra we can do!
Are the videos ready for prime time? I'm thinking they might look cool on Facebook and/or Twitter from time to time?

A riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma
Can we use “pootie” over here? (feels twinge of apprehension)
We’re not risking getting a notice in lawyerese from AdamB to the effect that “pootie™ is a registered trademark of Kos Media LLC” ? \s
Heh. Both pootie and woozle were pet names of members
so they don't belong to Kos. I'll let you know if I get a cease and desist notice from Pootie and Woozle owners, though.

The story goes back to ancient times. If I were you, I wouldn't worry too much.

LOL... in one of my favorite fantasy series
A "civilized" person and a barbarian are having a discussion about how wonderful civilization is. When they get to talking about the legal system the barbarian refers to lawyers as, "Those who's job it is to subvert justice."

We wouldn't, actually, unless we could be sure of where the
$4K comes from. We're trying to fund ourselves. Someone who is an active member and can do $4K (and there are several of us) is one thing. If they aren't part of the community already, their interest is in the 'trust but verify' range for me, for anything over $500. By all means make those videos go viral, if you can.

These are very good videos.
Kudos to whoever made them.

Wow! That's Great!
Thank you David...
and all the great team members, you folks are the best!
And a huge thanks to all that have contributed, you know who you are! You are amazing.
Mine is arriving via USPS.
I messaged JtC to expect a check from my bank every month. If my donation can subsidize anyone, I'm down with it.

Outstanding work, david and team!
Are gift subscriptions still under consideration, to boost the $2 monthly to a $5 level? If so I'd like to do a fundraiser to encourage gift subscription offers.
Please help support caucus99percent!
Absolutely, Dallasdoc. I was going to pm you anyhow, but this is
just as good. I have seven eighths of my gift subscription matches still to make, and I hope you'll simply announce that I'm joining you. With luck, that'll help start perhaps others to add on. We're not publishing until after you do your drive. More in a pm.
Please consider subscribing monthly, to help keep c99 going.
Holla, that sounds so good - great start -
many thanks to DavidinCleveland for his guidance, JnH for his terrific cartoons and images and Ranting Rooster for the video production. You guys are just ... oh well, huggable.
You know, I could easily fall in love with the guy at the end of the bottom video with the yellow hard hat. So, in case something should upset me in this holy crap shack
yes, when in all that brouh-ha-ha someone would upset me, I just imagine this very rare commentator would look like the yellow hard hat guy the end of the bottom video, looking me straight in the eye ... uhh, oooh, and I melt away. All is forgiven.
Admit it, if all of you would chip in a bit, this place could grow into something beautiful like this tree,

do what it takes to keep it going. Great job. I think that TPTB on this site should take a bow. You certainly must be doing something right!

GREAT WORK DAVID (and team)
And thank you for taking up this banner.
I'm still holding out on adding another $5/mo. I'm hoping that myself or my wife will nail a job shortly and things will ease up a great deal.
