Rounding Error? Hillary's Prescient, Pricey Even, "18 Million" Freudian Slip

So it's 2008, and she's lost to Barack Obama:

18 Million Cracks
"Although we weren't able to shatter that highest, hardest glass ceiling this time, thanks to you, it's got about 18 million cracks in it."

http://www.cbsnews.com/pictures/hillary-rodham-clinton-a-life-in-picture...

She rounded up a little, or down a little if you include estimates for the states with caucuses. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/democratic_vote_c...

A year later, as Bill Clinton negotiated his price with a "friend" with State Department business, he got approximately 1 buck a crack:

Inside Bill Clinton’s nearly $18 million job as ‘honorary chancellor’ of a for-profit college

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.washingtonpost.com/amphtml/politics/ins...

Well, maybe he wasn't exactly a friend but he liked Bill A LOT people, and Bill liked him back I'm sure, so that's worth a lot of bucks:

The guest list for a private State Department dinner on higher- education policy was taking shape when Secretary of State Hillary Clinton offered a suggestion.

In addition to recommending invitations for leaders from a community college and a church-funded institution, Clinton wanted a representative from a for-profit college company called Laureate International Universities, which, she explained in an email to her chief of staff that was released last year, was “the fastest growing college network in the world.”

There was another reason Clinton favored setting a seat aside for Laureate at the August 2009 event: The company was started by a businessman, Doug Becker, “who Bill likes a lot,” the secretary wrote, referring to her husband, the former president.

What's a little crack among friends?!!!

Yes, as I've said 18 million or so times, living in a swing state, and considering her LOTE (http://www.alternet.org/election-2016/noam-chomskys-8-point-rationale-vo...), I'll hold my nose and vote for her, but I won't lie for her. She's dishonest, and I won't be in on the lies.

Yes, I also do want to see Donald Trump's tax returns, and truly can't stand the man, and don't want him to be president, so any Trumpeters out there get absolutely no love here, sorry.

This is a terrible election where the third parties have far better candidates than either of the two major parties. I wish I could vote Green, but I can't justify it (see above Chomsky piece). We will be divided and ruled by Clinton or Trump, and their largely overlapping corporate handlers, and that's just the facts folks. I'm picking the poison I can best justify to the children who are inheriting a ruined world.

So, what began as a semi-funny Clinton put down piece ends as a pitiful, sure to piss off almost everyone, sellout piece. I'll go eat worms now. This is a terrible election. The Clintons have put themselves first once again, and the U.S. is screwing around as the world melts. And there's not a damn thing any of us can do about it. Politically that is.

But fortunately there is direct action, which will start as soon as either one of these dishonest capitalist shiteheads takes office.

P.S. If it's any consolation, this is the last piece I write anywhere other than for the Anti-Capitalist Meetup group I am in (for which I won't write about anything relating to the election) until after the election. So until at least Wednesday, November 9, 2016, you won't have to worry about me spoiling the swell party we are all in for with any politically ambiguous, troubling pieces. (Promises, promises I know.)

P.P.S. I'll cross post this at the one other place where I enjoy lurking and occasionally blogging/commenting these days, where the same commitment will apply. And, it won't be TOP, of course, which is now not worth any progressive or leftist's time and forbids unpleasant/unprofitable free speech.

P.P.P.S. Peace be with you, and I mean that sincerely, and if applicable (you know who you are), solidarity brothers and sisters.

Just to mention, if people would quit voting for evil to instead vote against it, evil would have to cheat even harder, and maybe not be able to to carry election theft off at all.

Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.

A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.

and I'll try to be as gentle as I can--because I mean no disrespect to the poster--but at least to me:

I'll hold my nose and vote for her, but I won't lie for her.

is, essentially, condoning her lies.

We have to break this cycle of "lesser of two evils" and stop voting for evil altogether.

that The $hill really is "The Lesser of Two Evils". The Drumpf is a loose cannon - no one knows what he would do should he manage to attain the highest office in the land. Still, he has pledged some support for the historic underpinnings of the "social safety net", now all too frayed by the eager gnawings of the neolibs and their disciples (prominently including The Clenis and The $hill), lo these many years.

OTOH, we have nearly three decades of direct experience on which to judge the likely outcome of The $hill's presidency -- and it ain't pretty. Bend overGet ready for more unending war (but with New!! Targets!!), tax cuts for The $hill's bankster buddies, and an end to the tattered remains of the "social safety net" (as we once knew it). The $hill is neolib-neocon, thru&thru --

Between the two, Trump is the lesser evil. He doesn't have the support to do anything from either party, whereas Hillary has nearly unanimous support from the democrats and a majority of the republicans (even if they wouldn't word it in such a way). People who actually support her or say they'll hold their nose try to make the argument of Trump having the nuclear launch codes being a scary thing, but they conveniently leave out the part that she actively encourages engaging Russia militarily, as if they wouldn't drop a few Tsar bombs on the US.

Besides, Trump being able to launch any nukes at all requires the Secretary of Defense agreeing to launch them as well. And since the Secretary of Defense requires the approval of the Senate to be appointed, ultimately it's the Senate that would be deciding on whether or not Trump will have a nuke launching pal, or a more level headed, anti-nuke-people guy on the other button. But with Hillary? They'll probably give her whatever Secretary of Defense she wants. Who would dare challenge the queen?

For more than one reason.

There may be a lesser of evils here, but Hillary ain't it.

Consolation? Far from it! On the contrary, I say you should reconsider your stances.

Your thoughts about our current political clusterfuck situation are always clear and cogent (a claim I myself cannot make) and when you write "troubling" pieces, it nearly always means that "troubling" pieces need to be written -- and read.

Do not underestimate the value of what you think and of what you have to say, amice.

I was so impressed by your recent essay, 3 suggestions for the great labor of love, articulating a viable socialism ,I would recommend that everyone read it.

One statement in particular really stuck with me:"True democracy must embody the permanent revolution of the masses. We cannot expect a utopian stasis will ever be achieved. Where there remains injustice, it is our collective duty to end it."

I agree with thanatokephaloides, your work has much value and is appreciated.

I'm guessing then that it's a very safe bet that Hillary likely has no chance in your state (although you could be in NC). You can still support Hillary (whether with words, time or money, all things which she needs), but your vote for her gains literally no advantage for her. For the safe red or blue state, third parties are the only ones who can truly benefit.

yes I'm in a swing state and yes I live in the very Deep South. I try to not completely out myself because of repression against my family and friends, but my vote will not be wasted I can assure you.

I'm in a swing state, Ohio, and I'll not be voting for the POS dem or repub candidates.

I'll hold my nose and vote for her, but I won't lie for her. She's dishonest, and I won't be in on the lies..... This is a terrible election where the third parties have far better candidates than either of the two major parties. I wish I could vote Green, but I can't justify it...

Makes my old head hurt. Wouldn't voting for her give credence to her lies? Just a thought. Maybe if all the people holding their noses voting for clinton or trump would just vote for for who they rather have for president, maybe things would change. This road we've been traveling ain't getting any smoother. The car is being held together with tape and bubble gum. It's time we got off of it before there's no car left. But hey, it's your vote, have at it...

on anything she might do in the next four years as President.

No way. It was bad enough going through that from 2008-2012.
